David Cronenberg met with some opposition when he announced that he wanted to cast Jeff Goldblum in the lead role. The executive at Fox who was supervising the project felt that Goldblum was not a bankable star, and Chris Walas felt that his face would be difficult to work with for the make-up effects.
Hope this helps.

It says that it's based on data gathered during Spring and Summer 2010. Granted, it's not like it's the only thing he was doing, but even the data gathering phase must have been quite a lot of work.

oops almost set fire to the neighbours trees there. I bought one of those sky lantern things and we all wrote what we wish for Jakes future on it to celebrate his 13th birthday and followed the instructions, lit it and it started well and flew up into the air then decided to dip just as it came into the neighbours trees. Scary! Thankfully it burned out just before the trees caught on fire. At least he has had some drama on his birthday!

Saw Back to the Future in the cinema earlier. Now all I can think of is that Eamon Zayed is going to gun down Doc Brown in a parking lot.
Rest easy. He'll miss. :p

Saw that. Is that an automatic 0-3 to Serbia as Italy were hosts? Or to Italy as it was the Serbia fans who seem to have caused everything?
I'm genuinely surprised. Not that the Serbians caused trouble, but that the Italians didn't join in.

If it's given as 3-0 to Serbia, expect chaos at the rest of their away games!

from UEFA.com: http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro2012/news/newsid=1545636.html#italy+serbia+match+abandoned+c rowd+trouble
The UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying match between Italy and Serbia in Genoa was abandoned due to crowd trouble.
Only six minutes of play were possible at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, the kick-off of which had been delayed by 35 minutes due to crowd disturbances. It was subsequently decided to abandon the match in order to ensure the safety and security of all parties involved due to the disturbances and flares thrown by the Serbian fans.
UEFA now awaits the receipt of the official UEFA delegate's match report before deciding whether to open a disciplinary case.

Police arrested idiot. They waited until all the fans had got on to coaches and then searched through each one making the Serbs strip to see if they had tattoos like the guy on the fence. If your going to cover you face then you think should cover your tattoos too!
He was found hiding in the luggage section underneath the coach!

My God, but Sky News' coverage of the Chilean miners' rescue is utterly, nauseatingly over the top. "Next up is Jesus Soap. He's 34, married with four children and likes football and classical rock. He's been working with the company for ten years and had a bad back last year", all while a caption on top tells you we've (8 of 33 miners rescued".
Anyone associated with Sky News should be shot.

Is it that the first task for the Chilean miners after their release is to visit Anfield - to advise Roy Hodgson on how to get out of a ****ing big hole before Christmas?

On that, I got a text that yesterday was Maggie Thatcher's 85th birthday. Given her condition, she probably spent it staring at the telly, only to see celebrating miners and scouse football fans.

My favourite miners joke so far:
Lets all dress up in Planet of the Apes costumes to greet the Chilean Miners!!
I heard that Gary Glitter volunteered to take part in the rescue effort. Once he heard about 33 trapped minors he was straight in there.

It's only three years since once of them was killed at a Serie A match. They take this stuff seriously.

The Carabinieri in Genoa have history too at G8/20 etc...
Really, they could've picked a better place to riot at than Italy..and that's what goes on in public, never mind those who were arrested..

I think it's the amount of positive (or negative) feedback you've gotten in the form of 'thanks' or, more rarely, 'reputation'.
Click on your control panel (top right) and you'll see a column called 'latest reputation received' - it will list rep and thanks.

A thank is worth one point. Clicking on the star, you can add positive or negative reputation, the value of which varies according to how highly thought of the giving poster is (I think; I haven't paid too much attention - honest! - but I know the values vary). Hover over the bars, and a description of the poster appears.
My favourite are the red bars for overall negative reputation. We've only had a couple of those so far though. :)
