Did anyone catch what exactly Rooney said to the camera after the match? RTÉ just had it on.

"good to hear your own fans booing you"

errr, what do you expect Wayne? you and your team had a shocker!

“Nice to see your own fans booing you,” he said. “If that’s what loyal support is, for f***’s sake.” (http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/sport/columnists/mattdickinson/article2563506.ece)

Yes Wayne, damn and blast those fans who had travelled thousands of miles, and paid thousands of pounds in the foolish expectation their team might be able to even create a decent chance against a team ranked 30th in the world. What demands they have!

I suppose many wont agree with me, but I agree with Wayne here. It's not as if the players wanted to draw, and wtf does booing a team actually achieve other than probably making the players feel even more isolated? England haven't even lost a game, and if they win their next match they'll go through.. if they don't win, then you can boo them and throw tomatoes :D

Why support/follow a team, if you want to support/follow a team, then get behind them, thats what it is about, not about performance or opinions, you follow a team, you give your best to them, what happens, happens, move on.

Mr A
20/06/2010, 9:53 AM
That's all predicated though on the players giving you their best. Some of the England players were strolling about as if playing their first preseason friendly rather than a vital match at the world cup.

But I do agree with the point that the hysteria that surrounds the England is unhealthy, if highly entertaining.

thischarmingman
20/06/2010, 12:08 PM
It's ridiculous the media circus around the team and it's utterly mad how things that two weeks ago were being pointed to as evidence of how good Capello is (strict team camp, aloofness for instance), are now being used against him.

That said, if ever a group of supporters were justified in booing a team, surely it was last Saturday night- England were inept beyond belief and not a single player wanted to take responsibility.

Sometimes you see someone and are sort of knocked back by how good they look.. happened to me twice today!

Wimbledon starts tomorrow, time for the world cup to take a back seat for me.

Nah, I've gotten over the shock of my own beauty by now ;)
I reckon there won't be many on here who'd take tennis over football. Though the World Cup this year is more like a soap opera than a football competition.

I had two American friends visit me over the weekend in Limerick. They stayed in Dublin on Friday night, and ended up heading out to Dalymount Park with some people involved with Bohs in some way - they had a drink or two there and even had a walk on the pitch apparently, all the while being filled with tales about the immortal enemy that is Shamrock Rovers.

They were delighted, so on behalf of them, I thank those Bohs involved.

League of Ireland is finally back . . . time for the World Cup to take a back seat :) (though with transfer speculation and the Market's Field it never really took the front seat!)

Also, what Rooney said was right, but he was wrong to say it.

There's nothing exotic about freezing ice cream. If it can't do it, it's not cold enough, either because it's set up wrong or because it's banjaxed.

Double-check the temperature control. If that's okay, leave an open-topped plastic container of water in it. If it doesn't freeze, get a new freezer. If it does freeze, the freezer is probably operating around -1 or -2 Celcius or so - it's tottering on the edge and you should think about replacing it soon.

everything else (meat, ice, bread) freezes solid and its at the coldest setting. Its just the bloody ice-cream.

Then it's the last thing I said: it's below freezing but not by all that much - probably slowly failing.

The sum total of my upper body and core strength is approximately 0. I'm not looking forward to the pain tomorrow after lunchtime circuit training.

I have to recommend it though if anyone is in Dublin City centre and fancies an intensive lunch time workout, it's a crowd called Urban Fitness they're in Schoolhouse Lane (behind the big Church on Dawson St) Tuesday's at 1 and Thursday's at 12.30, they do alternate days in the IFSC somewhere. The website is www.urbanfitness.ie, there's not much on it other than contact details but they're very good at getting back if you email them. It's €8 a session or they do 10 for €70. I've no affiliation with them whatsoever by the way, and I've only been the last two Thursdays, but so far so good.
