And why is that, boy bach?
Oh, no ... it's contagious.
Luton getting promoted to the Premier League would be proper 80's nostalgia stuff for me. I would love it.

Millwall in the shake up too & Coventry City are decent again. It'll be 88 / 89 all over again. Just need a couple of plastic pitches with surfaces like aircraft carrier decks & we're all set.

Luton :)
It might be somewhat tainted but this is still one of my all time favourite sporting memories. As an Irish kid watching an Irish athlete come back like that, it was pretty inspiring. I can still remember Roche turning that corner at the finish and being shocked that it was him even though there’d been reports (no footage though iirc) from commentators that he was gaining ground on Delgado.

My only real memory of the TdF is Patrick's Hill in Cork, which I didn't actually see myself. :)
Anyone remember this poem?? A classic from my youth…still know it off by heart
“Ladies and jellyspoons,
I come before you
to stand behind you
and tell you something
I know nothing about.
Next Thursday,
the day after Friday,
there will be a ladies' meeting
for men only.
Wear your best clothes,
if you haven't any,
and if you can come,
please stay home.
Admission is free,
you can pay at the door.
We'll give you a seat,
so you can sit on the floor.
It makes no difference
where you sit,
the kid in the gallery
is sure to spit."
Somehow I have been labouring under the impression that Terry Wogan was still alive. Dead since 2016. Must’ve missed that…

Was that not the Bohs squad's FAI Cup Final 2024 suit he was wearing? ;)
My iptv set up had to be renewed today under a different service and it’s massively changed. For Irish tv I now only have access to RTE1 & 2, whereas before I had access to pretty much everything including Virgin. I also have most of the Sky channels. I remember that some Irish games are on RTE and some are on VM. Can anyone let me know what games I might not now be able to watch with the above set up? And if anyone know whether there are other means to subscribe internationally to VM? I’ll also have to resubscribe to LOITV which was available in my previous set up… sad day :(

Unemployed.
Sorry to hear that Tets - unless it was planned/voluntary of course.

Try and take time to enjoy some bit of freedom if possible - you'll be complaining about being desk-tied soon enough.
(That's from having been there myself...)

Ah sorry to hear that man. I'm very aware how unpleasant an experience that is. For what its worth, I completely agree with PS - take a breath, refresh, regroup for as long as feasible in your circumstances.

Sorry to hear that Tets. Definitely enjoy a bit of time to yourself for as long as you can. There's plenty of time to get back in the groove again in future, but nothing beats a bit of time to yourself.

How's the job market in your industry tets? Going to stay at it or thinking of a change?
I'm working on selling my hosting biz at the moment, probably still keep the webdev thing going but time for a change I think, quite like a safe part-time public job with a pension!
Would be easier to enjoy a break if you'd something lined up I'll bet! Not a nice situation to be in, hope it works out for you.

Best of luck with the sale

How does this new job look in terms of your running the predictions league :D
Boss has vanished, Seagull did his shift last season and you'd be ideal for a numbers / stats game
Congratulations BTW

Keep an eye on Alex Dunne. He just won the F2 (Formula One’s feeder series) feature race at Imola. His second win of the season and he’s top of the standings.

Isn't drivers bringing sponsorship with them still a big part of who gets an F1 seat ?
How is he fixed in that way & which agency / management is he with ?

Yeah, sponsorship's a big thing for every young driver and far too big a thing at that. But he's driving for the Rodin team as part of McLaren's Driver Development Programme.

I don't know who has the 'Annie Hall' quote in their signature, I've tried searching but I'm useless at it.
I finally realised where it came from watching a particular show. It was like a lightning bolt hit me.

And managed to land P4 in the first practice session in Lando Norris car for McLaren. That's quite a way to introduce yourself.
So he's starting to surface a bit, Saturday Sports on RTÉ Radio One today had him on just after 3pm as it went out live if anyone wants to listen back. Said some silly things, like the car doesn't matter, when it absolute does. He also refused or tried to refuse to address the Monaco pile up where the abuse on Socials toward him after caused him some distress. I think he was trying to say he'd put it behind him, psychologically, but he needed to field the question better.
Said his dad was a huge part of his set up but has stepped back a little & then said his dad is still responsible for attracting the sponsorship he requires.
So I'd say a little bit of press training wouldn't go amiss as he's about to be interviewed plenty more if he keeps lapping the way he does.
He definitely has that racing driver who knows he's good, confidence. No shortage of that and very aware he'll need it too. Good luck to him, interesting emerging Irish sport story for sure

Really up and down weekend for him in Austria. The test in Norris car was brilliant, was only .1 second off Piastri. He drove really well in the F2 feature race to finish 2nd after starting 7th... but then got disqualified for a technical reason with the car.
Ive watched most of the F2 races so far this season and hes definitely got the speed, the Monaco thing was a brain dead mistake but hes bounced back really well from it. Will be hard to see him breaking into the McLaren F1 team considering both Lando and Piastri are so good and so young, but if he finishes the season the way hes started it there might be a fair bit of interest in him from other teams.
