Bah, I've had my bike stolen. Went down to the bike rack in my apartment complex to get it this morning on my way to work and it was gone from where I'd left it on Tuesday evening. I can't believe it really as not only did I have it locked to the rack with a D-lock, but the racks are also within the apartment complex for which a fob is needed to gain access. I've reported it to the police anyway so am awaiting further word back from them. Have also spoken to the complex management but they've confirmed that there are no CCTV cameras in the vicinity, which is a bit annoying. All I can do now is wait and hope it turns up somehow, but I'm not overly hopeful.

Friend of mine had his bike robbed from inside an art gallery yesterday, he had it down the back, locked beside a storage room too, he went away for a few hours, came back and it was gone, there was some others in the building all the time while he was away, and very unlikely to have stolen it, so someone must have seen it through the window, walked in and robbed it. Can't imagine someone having the gall to do that in the middle of the day, but there you go. Apparently laptops are always being robbed from gallerys too.
Saying that the other people in the gallery are either blind or must have gone down the back for a considerable amount of time to let it happen, but still..
How disappointing. I was waiting for the bit where you smite them mightily with furious anger, thus curing them of their deviant cycle thieving ways.

3 hockey coaches sacked in 3 days in the khl, actually 4 now. Kind of makes me miss home, also, I noticed that there are some really cute female journos working here. My other half finds out and I'll be gelded.
On a good note, congrats Nigel, you're living the dream. Until it turns into a nightmare and your 3 year old is running around outside Old Trafford saying, I want to play football here. And then throws a fit when you refuse to shell out 150gbp for a lego model of the den of evil. They grow up so fast these days!

Indeed, I think we'll all be a little disappointed if Acornvilla doesn't don some sort of football related superhero costume (maybe a helmet/mask fashioned from an old, burst, Mitre Multiplex) and set out to avenge his dear friend's loss.

Now that is downright creepy! What do I do, just take sneaky pics of girls?
I thought about it but I like my work too much! Might try something though, but I have a real problem uploading pics on the site, otherwise there'd be a selfie of me and Isinbaeva!

I'm sitting in the lobby cafe of a crass Moscow fitness club, just thinking how great it was to watch the Dubs Kerry match with my Dad and to discuss todays match, which I only heard 20mins of, with him on skype tomorrow. Last December he was given up on, then 2 days sfter the all Ireland semi he collapsed again, and almost a year after he was first checked, they found a bug in his system that Blanch, the Mater private and the Beacon all failed to detect. So thanks to the Lourdes hospital I can dissect todays match and hear why Dundalk lost, why Bucko needs to leave Ireland and why Enda Kenny is a hero, on second thoughts :

You know when you have a bad feeling about something, but you do it anyway. I'm beginning to feel that way about my Masters course and I haven't even started it. I've been hearing about alternatives that tbh I think will suit me better. I've not paid any fees yet so I guess backing out of it is still an option, but I start next week. Decisions decisions, I'm not very good with quitting or backing out of stuff..

I was going to go to SK. but I wanna sort out driving licency things. Fupped if they think I'm gonna do a test again. Damn you Canadia!
Isn't there a reciprocity agreement? Plus you can for sure use your irish license for the first 6 months. They made mine permanent without a test.
I'm currently checking sh!t out on this.
some responses...
Stuart Cunningham Irish in Regina - what's the story with getting a drivers license in Sask? Do they recognize the Irish license beyond the first 6 months or do you have to take a test? I know you used to when I moved here 7 years ago but think this may have changed...someone who might be moving here's asking...
Tanya Healy We just had to show our licences, driving record which we got from our county buildings at home and we also had our driving no claims bonus from our insurance company at home. Then they issued us with sask licences. No hassle at all. No test
about an hour ago via mobile · Like..
Tamara Ferraton I know that our physicians from overseas also just have to show their licenses/record and sgi will give them their license

Paudie Ahern Yea same as above but I got mine within the first month two!
Needed drivers abstract from county hall, proof of address, letter from bank any other bills with name and address, passport and work visa!

During your hiatus Stu I posted this here:
So in preparation for my move to Canada I was investigating whether I could exchange my Irish licence for one in Canuckland without completing any tests or exams.
From a brief piece of research it became clear that only Manitoba, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick were the only provinces who had a reciprocal agreement with this State so I had resigned to starting off in one of those for the sake of my sanity as I'm not willing to be a learner again.
Good evening,
I'm moving to (large city in Province) from the Republic of Ireland [this hurt to type as Danny and Nigel would know but for the sake of clarity...] in the coming months.
I currently hold a full Irish driving licence for the last 5 years with no endorsements.
What is the procedure for me to get my (Province) licence without completing further licence tests?
James
So I decided to email all of the drivers licencing agencies the following just to confirm or to see if there was a loophole or something; this is what I sent:
British Columbia, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Manitoba all got back to me saying I would need to complete some bloody written exams and the graduated licencing thingy would kick in.
All said my existing driving experience would count towards the graduation and then I would be grand.
Saskatchewan didn't get back to me. I didn't email PEI, Yukon or NT or Nunavut.
New Brunswick confirmed I could do a straight swap and all will be fine. WAHEY! Moncton here I come.
Quebec didn't respond with anything relevant. They didn't understand my email and asked me to call them. Clowns.
But the reason I wrote this post is because ALBERTA! Oh Alberta! I knew you were already a hickhole that I would never care to live in.
This is what I got:
Thank you for your inquiry.
Alberta has a reciprocal agreement with Northern
Ireland for an Alberta class 5 licence without having
to do further testing, as long as you can prove 2 or
more years of driving experience.
WTF!
I responded to Alberta with this:
Good evening,
As mentioned in my initial query, I am from the REPUBLIC of IRELAND not Northern Ireland or great Britain or the UK etc. and hold a licence from the Republic of Ireland.
What is the procedure for holders of my licence type?

:D Honestly, that's basically what I told the bint who gave me my license (in order to avoid doing the test which was required for Irish license holders at the time). She said "my reciprocity information states we recognize northern irish licenses", I said "ah brilliant, sure Northern Ireland and Ireland are one and the same thing, that's great go ahead..." Brazen but it worked :D

It will be tough. But I reckon I will manage it. Only issue is that if I change my Irish for a Canadian (NB licence) it will be tough changing it back to an Irish one when I get home. I'm waiting on a response from the NDLS here.
