Bought a bottle of that 'Football Special' stuff today that ye Donegal/Nordies rave about...such a let down.

Bought my sons a bottle each when in the Showgrounds on Monday. They were thrilled to get it since they havent had it in years.

I thought I was having a bad day yesterday. Just found out this morning my cousin's husband has died in a shooting accident. She is same age as me and has 2 wee girls. My heart is broken coz I loved them so much. And my sisters fiancé had to have his appendix removed yesterday and his heart stopped for 12 seconds. He was born with a heart problem. So all my minor woes yesterday are nothing compared to what those I love are going through. Makes you stop and think about appreciating what you have.

I don't mean to sound insensitive (though I'm not very good at that), but what is a shooting accident?

He was out with his gun and trip in a ditch and the gun went off. Absolutely devastated. Thankfully my sisters fella is ok coz couldnt cope with that too.

When I heard about the burglary in Killsallaghan I thought that that was the incident in question.

Either way that's a shocking way to go.

Maybe because ye didn't have it too often it felt like it was something special/nicer? I remember I used to be mad for Dr. Pepper when I was younger cos could only get it when I'd be in England, not the same now they sell it here.

You'd think that, but it has actually changed. I know plenty folk who would say the same thing too. It's still nice though.

I'm dying.

Ah now, don't be at that.

Wednesday 4PM: I think I may wet my whistle with some friends on my birthday in my favourite Dublin bar.
615PM: Hmmm I better catch my train as I am only meeting friends at 8 for a couple and I need to get home and shower first.
7PM: Uh oh, I don't have time to shower. Ah I will only be out for a couple of hours. No problem.
8PM: Delicious Heineken.
Thursday 1AM: Ah, the bar is closed. Oh, thank you Bar manager guy for my free birthday pint. :)
2AM: (scene missing)
4AM: I should probably leave the bar. I have to be up for work in the morning. I said I would be in early today.
915AM: I won't be in today. Or tomorrow. And please don't look at my pictures or check-ins on Facebook.
4PM: I should get up now.
553PM: I think I'll look at Foot (http://foot.ie/threads/99286-The-say-anything-what-s-on-your-mind-thread?p=1587745&viewfull=1#post1587745)

What way does the blood donation work in Dublin? When I lived in England I gave blood religiously every 4 months(I think?) because they had a dedicated location open all day so I could go when I could. It's kinda fallen by the wayside since I returned home. You only have 3/4 opportunities a month to donate here, they pop up in random locations that thus far haven't been suitable for me.

Questions just as fun as the English one so. One of the questions they ask before you donate is "have you been outside the UK in the last few weeks?" que me "yes I've been to Donegal". Nurse has to go consult with her boss if that's a problem.:D

My love affair with Magners is no more. Pint bottles/tap is fine, but when it comes from a can I get bad heartburn. Last night was horrible.

I gave blood in 2007ish and I was queried whether I had sex in the previous year with an African. I said no. But then I said, "actually yes, I was seeing a South African when in Australia last year", the nurse said, "White or Black...?"

Hmmmmmm... apparently Afrikaners are okay.

If the infection rates in the two communities are significantly different then this makes sense. There is no place for political correctness in medicine.

I can't give blood, because I had yellow jaundice when I was a kid. But I do feel bad sometimes, I'm the rarest blood type, so I figure I'm saving it for when someone I like gets sick or in an accident and can help out. Then again, I could sell it to sickly vampires.

Weird thing today, walking from a meeting around 4pm, in glorious sunshine, with a client and her mother. We're discussing fashion and this young lassy (no more than 14) strolls by with her mother (I think) wearing a t-shirt saying - I "heart" s1uts. I wanted to go and point out to her what it meant, I mean, she might not even know english. But christ.

I can't give blood because I lived in the UK for more than one year between 1980 and 1996. Derry fans beware if you ever have to receive blood, as it's gotta be bad for you....

In other news, why the fook can women not understand air conditioning thermostates? To get the room to an acceptable temp you set it to that temp and leave it, you don't have to ramp it up to 24 degrees. And no, it won't "get warmer quicker".

They know that the engineers who designed it were men, so they assume they know better. It being ridiculous is insufficient counterargument. I just disable the outer dial. As long as they've something to adjust, they're happy, even if it has no effect.
