"I lie on the bare mattress and concentrate on bringing into life the image of myself as a swimmer swimming with even, untiring strokes through the medium of time, a medium more inert than water, without ripples, pervasive, colourless, odourless, dry as paper." J.M. Coetzee, Waiting for the Barbarians
Great novelist, that fella.

I got flummoxed by a question that she wanted an answer that I didn't want to answer. I played it safe and answered anyway and did not expect the reaction.

Been there alright. I'd give you a hug only I'm too manly for that, y'kno.

Sunday Indo at their very best this weekend:
http://www.independent.ie/opinion/analysis/loud-and-proud-gays-want-to-take-over-rest-of-society-2920975.html

I'm not being reactionary and I'm all for gay rights and an end to prejudice and discrimination, and always have, but at this stage it seems as if the tables have turned and a minority community -- the gays -- want to increasingly change mainstream culture to suit them.

For example, why is civil partnership not enough, and why do gays also want marriage, a surely traditional heterosexual facility, which gays used to see as patriarchal, and 'straight'?

I'd say the journo's wiki has been recently edited too:

Can't stand the daft ***** who, after the professor finished his lecture and says "so, anymore questions?" decide to ask questions. Its not so bad if its, "so its due on Monday, right?" but when its a question that either pertains only to you, is common sense, or could easily be found and we have a long-winded teacher just keep your mouth shut and either email him or just go up after he dismisses the rest of us. He was going to let us go 15 minutes early and two daft questions later somehow 15 minutes had passed.

Would you be saying the same thing if it was a paedophile's house? Personally I hate answering the door every couple of minutes so sometimes just to mess with them I go to the door and when I open it just sort of act like I don't know its Halloween and can't figure out why they're on my doorstep.

Rotten eggs are best, more aerodynamic and thus better for pelting the little ****s with. No brusing and it will make them smell. Giving out bad stuff will likely just end up with yourself getting egged or TPed but if you throw the eggs they'll be frightened.

Had the misfortune to see the Hustle last night on bbc 4. My god what a rubbish show, so obvious its all staged. **** Colin Murray on it last night in a silly poker game, guy with 4 aces that went all in when he had no hearts considering there were four hearts on the table with one card left and one man betting against him. Doh, maybe he has a heart!! And they were all surprised about this!!! FFs

Why can I get a $505 round trip from O'Hare to Istanbul but haven't been able find any fares under $1,000 to Dublin for the 2nd Leg? Thats how much a one-way ticket costs in most cases.

Perhaps if you undertake on the M50 it will be your Last Ride (I'm sorry I don't even know if Undertaker is still in WWF or still does the Last Ride powerbomb as he did 10 years ago when I watched).

I don't even know what undertaking is, I looked it up and its perfectly legal here so I'll continue to undertake thank you.

BonnieShels
10/11/2011, 8:00 AM
Yeah undertaking is perfectly legal over your way but most definitely not here.

One of the arguments against it here is the safety issue. But to be honest the safety issue only arises as we are not accustomed to drivers taking us on the left hand side. I think that the general quality of driving in this country leaves a lot to be desired anyway and I wouldn't trust the driving population with it. I mean, we have a difficulty with merging.

I've driven enough abroad to know that as much as our drivers suck, everyone else's drivers also suck. Sometimes in different ways, but more or less the same amount.

The biggest problem with the motorway here is that you have to spend all of your time overtaking the kind of people who will do 80 km/h on the motorway in perfect conditions, while allowing for the people who will do 150 km/h in a blizzard. The single most annoying thing for me on a motorway is to be overtaking a solid column of people doing 20 under the limit while a **** in a ****-mobile is flashing his lights and weaving because I'm unwilling to either exceed the limit or slot into a car-length and a half of space in a stream of traffic going much slower than me just to satisfy his own need to compensate for having a tiny penis and inability to slow down to a mere 120 km/h for the ten seconds it's going to take me to clear that traffic. Thankfully, the precise traffic conditions needed for that to occur are rare at the times I tend to be driving on a 2 lane motorway. (Somewhere, the same **** has presumably told his mates about the git who can't drive, and the herd of cattle to our left have presumably complained about the terrible weather we've been having, and how the traffic seems a bit heavy.) In the eternally wise words of Douglas Adams, people are a problem.

There's a limit to how many attachments you can have stored on the site (or rather to the total size of the files). Click on "go advanced" while you're composing a post, and then on the button "manage attachments". This pops up a new window: the File Upload Manager. On top, it says its name and then
"Manage all files that you have uploaded__________60.4 KB of 97.7 KB Used"
or whatever. If that space is too full (and it's not big), you'll have to delete some old attachments before you can add more.

Of course, you should still be able to hotlink an image. Click on the icon for that, and under "From URL", uncheck the box "Retrieve remote file and reference locally".

If that doesn't help, ask Dahamsta in support.

I always thought undertaking was legal here if the driver was going slowly in the outer lane? I do it enough anyway (that or just flash slow drivers in the fast lane until they take the hint)

SkStu
13/11/2011, 3:22 PM
not sure what its like back home but whenever I undertake a slow driver in the fast lane, i would say 75% of the time the person is on their mobile phone. When you consider that the highways here are long, straight and flat and therefore the amount of time they have to notice me zooming towards them is considerable, it just goes to show how distracting talking on your mobile is while driving.

As a result, I have moved to a policy of immediate undertaking!!

Only in traffic jams, not in general driving.

And another thing, if it's dark enough for lights, put on your full dips!
