Went to the Cobh game at the Cross last night.
New shed end stand looking great. The seated area looks finished. There looks to be work to be done on the area between the pitch and the stand and behind the stand.
Couldn't see whether the varous rooms under the stand are finished. Glass in all windows.
Started Work on the Townside Development at 8am this morning with a finshing date of 23rd July 2007.

all you need to do is extend the main stand to link up with the new one, they look the same height.

We can't do that because there is a passage to allow access to the back of The Horseshoe Inn, which we can't block.
The next big job will be a roof on the St. Anne's End.
Will someone try to give regular picture updates? There will be a pictorial diary on the offical website. Turners Cross is looking class cant wait for friday well done to all concerned.:ball:

It nearly looks like a real football ground now ;)
Roof the St Annes end now and a few more bits and pieces and it'll be the job. It would be good to bring it up to 10,000 seated eventually though.

The new stand at Turners Cross looks nice alright. Hats off to the Munster Football Association for the development.

Coz the Wexford fans have never been at KCP they wouldn't have noticed the improvements but despite me having seen it while they were working on it, I was blown away by the finished product. It really looks nice!
the new wall with railings, raised area for wheelchairs, new patio area and the tarmacing make the place look almost brand new!

A patio, some tarmac and a railinged wall
Just watched Pats v Cork on the TV and highly impressed with Turners X. Best ground in the country by a distance now. Are there plans to roof the other end of the ground this season ? Regardless, I think the cup final should be at De X this year. It probably holds as much as Tolka or Dalymount, and if full it would have a great athmosphere.
(Oh, and did I mention, Pats were brilliant tonight :D )

i think the RDS with its new 15,000 seated capacity will hold the cup final... id like to see it held in turners cross though, really looks the part now

Turner's Cross is by far the best ground in the league. I've only been there once for the Inter-Toto agaisnt Cologne all those years ago. I'm looking forward to going there this season.

Thats just the start of the improvements and it makes the place look lovely. At least we own the 14 acres of our lovely ground out right.

What the jayzuz were you doing in Cork for that?!
That's almost as random as Steo being in Romania for Shels-Bucharest!

Land is that bit cheaper up in Monaghan I'd imagine
Besides as sly digs go that was a pretty $hitty one what with you being fairly familiar with Limericks situation and all ;)

What id love to know is has the Shed managed to keep the atmosphere it used to have? Is it filled with all the hard-core fans again or where are they sitting this year? By hard-core i actually mean the fans that sing away for the whole game so hardcore probably isn't the best phrase to use. I know alot of hard-core fans dont go just for the singing in the Shed end incase i offend any cork supporters.

Singing contingent is a bit fractured at the moment which is always disappointing for eL clubs imo.
Felt really proud to call the Cross home tonight.
Looking really well.
People would appreciate this more if the tv gantry was on the opposite side (Derrynane).
Plans to begin the short job of roofing the St.Anns end immediately after the Sheds completion pending the arrival of grant money.
If not, planning permission will have expired and apparently be difficult to re-attain.
Would finish the job well though.
I agree that the stands could be joined up but like the way there are 4 very different sides to the ground.

Well considering you are not doubt well aware that we dont have loads of money to build beautiful stadiums but do our best to make the one we have nice, you were getting a nice little dig in too!
Yes land is a bit cheaper up here but fair play to the committee who had the foresight 20 odd years ago to buy a bog & turn it into the facility it is!
Turners Cross for my money is now the best stadium in the lge, thats a very impressive photo on the prev page, looks like an eng lge 1 ground !

is there plans to move the TV gantry? the stadium is looking class and a credit to the club - but it is lost a bit on TV. well done to all concerned as it is without doubt the top eL ground in the land at the moment.

Hats off to the Munster Football Association for the development.
Hats off to the FAI, Cork City FC and to Government Sports Grants.
The MFA did everything they could to delay the project.

Unfortunately, afaik, no.
I'd imagine planning permission would be required.
There's a TV gantry over the new Shed end though.

No there isn't. There's a camera mount point.
We've been over this TV gantry thing before and moving it to the Derrynane Road side is a non-runner.

tell them to **** off, what are they doing for MFA/CCFC?
They could have built their own access if they hadn't put in that offo.

This is their own access and they've always had it.
The ground was built around it.
It's always been the way.

As part of the St Pats takeover there is talk of a modernisation of Richmond Park.
Are any detailed plans (or even nondetailed ones)available?

Was up in Monaghan last week at Wexford game. Really enjoyed it - friendly people, good facilities and a draw in our first game. Hope to go back in not too distant future - only 170 miles!!

Given the current capacity is maybe 7000 when 3 sides used I cannot see how could fit more than 7000 seats into the current space even using 4 sides. The shed end (apartments behind) & Camac side (river behind) can not be developed with any significant size.
He's going to put up an ultra modern block of flats
Thats what i'd be worried about if i was a Pats fan

looks pretty good, but will they really have a terrace built in exposed to the elements? i dont see the sense in that...

Wexford YFC will have 1,000 temporary seats installed at the ground for Sunday. Five electronic turnstiles are also being installed but may not be ready for first game. (the info on seats is direct from the club, info on turnstiles is from a poster on Wexford forum who was at the ground)

Great to have the seats in for the first game.
A lot of people will go out of curiosity to the first game but may not go back if the facilities are too spartan.
