So, does the contractor buliding the new stadium plan to pay for it off the profits they make of Finn Park, building apartments on the site etc.

Legally that wont be their concern now. Thats one for the contractor and has nothing to do with Harps.

It'll be a concern to Finn Harps if the contractor goes bust..

Seriously, who would build an apartment complex in Ballybofey?

Two things can happen ...

Contractor goes bust and Harps keep Finn Park
New Ground is finished, handed over and everything is signed, sealed and finished and Harps get the new ground.

Its an either or situation, black or white. Harps, legally should no suffer (obviously they will want to get to the new ground though)

There are government grants also available, its not Harps concern what the builder does with the ground as long as The new Finn Park is finsihed.

At present the builder claims they are not under pressure and will not be folding, this has been looked into as the current financial melt down amoungst developers had the board worried but they have been assured the ground will be completed.

Its almost as if people can't wait for it to fall through.

Where'd you get the idea it's three tiered? Plans were around a while ago, but may have been modified since.

You can see a picture of the plans on the 3rd page here: http://www.wexfordyouthsfcsc.com/photos.htm

well if you go to:
http://www.wexfordyouthsfcsc.com/index.htm

go to the bottom of the page and listen to the radio click with wallace. go to 2 min 17seconds... he says its three tiers... main tier, press tier and vip tier.... sounds like the business. hes got his head screwed on. i can see him being the LOI's main man in five years time - if it takes that long and if the lge is still around

Don't think it'll actually be three tiers though, just designated sections, the original plans certainly had all of these in place.

Mick has obtained planning permission on his original design for the new stand, which is a 2,500 seater with facilities underneath for a bar, shop, coffee shop etc. It was never a 3 tier job, but was laid out with designated areas. Perhaps that is where there is some confusion

Wine bar or a proper bar?
The clubhouse will remain as a wine bar/Italian sytle restaurant and I'm told a normal bar in the stand.

I think the last few (financial) hurdles have been sorted out recently, so construction could start shortly

There's lights on the roof of the stand anyway definitely.

The floodlights were delayed due to the factory that makes them in England being flooded. The las I heard they were due to arrive mid February. I think the foundations are being dug for them at the moment.

Turners cross is definetly the best looking ground in the country,

what would be perfect is if now they switched all the red seats to green

Good point. How come they have red seats in Turner's Cross?

Longfordian
29/01/2009, 9:17 PM
Cork City don't own it so why should they have green seats?. Red is a more traditional Cork colour I guess the MFA feel it's more appropriate. Or maybe there was a load of red seats going cheap..

When the first lot (i.e. 3/4 of the ground - everything apart from the new stand) were installed we were wearing red and white jersies.

They've just stuck with that since. That's the reason.

29/01/2009, 9:49 PM
Well then change the jerseys to red.

Can CCFC buy it from the MFA?

And what work is being done behind the St Annes end?
No they would not want to sell,Also city do not have the cash and it would be a bad investment as not much can be done to the ground to extend capacity.

adamd164
29/01/2009, 9:50 PM
Well then change the jerseys to red.
No.

Can CCFC buy it from the MFA?
The MFA don't own it. They run it on behalf of the FAI, who have a long-term lease on it (100 years I think) from some Canadian millionaire.

In short, we don't need to, nor could we afford to. It's written into the lease that the ground be made available for rent to an LOI club representing Cork at a reasonable price. The land will never be rezoned by the council or anything similar because it's the only football-exclusive stadium worth speaking of in Cork. So we're happy as things are, for the same reason Rovers are happy not owning Tallaght.

And what work is being done behind the St Annes end?
They are installing a chipper, a shop, and toilet facilities.

Theres a new sponsorship box currently been built adjacent to the Enda McGuill suite upstairs in the main stand at Oriel, its located above the Lillywhite! Not too sure if its going to be used for Press as well!

And Bray could change theirs to a weather-beaten pink colour to match their seats.

Cool.
May i ask, will the away section be in the same place this year?
Yeah, afaik it will be.

Unless the people in the shed move down to the St Anne's End, in which case they'll move the away section down to the shed end of the Derrynane.
