I'd imagine residents behind the Derrynane would object if we tried to extend it right back to the wall.

Nice idea though.

I dunno man, it would definitely be better with something like this

ive seen that before it woul be great but i cant imagine them doing that

Id rather they focused on extending the DF first to be honest

The floodlights were delayed due to the factory that makes them in England being flooded.
I'm sure there's a good joke in there somewhere. I'll get back to you...

Yeah, Galway did it and it worked out well but i don't think they're able to at Turners Cross.
As of now that is the only stand without tv access.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is Turners Cross now the only all seated, all covered stadium in Ireland?!

Technically Tolka Park is all seated if there where the correct restrictions put in place regarding standing behind the goals!

Ballybough End is exposed though, so it's not all-covered.

Its not completely covered; the roof doesn't manage to reach over the very front section of the Donie Ford Stand (the one with the TV cameras).
Its still a great ground though - best in the league.

From the official website;

The Donie Forde Stand (1900), St.Annes End (2800), Derrynane Road (1185), Curragh Road Stand (1500).

That's wrong anyway. But to be fair 7500 isn't out by much.

While technically true, most of the grants gotten were done so because of City using the ground. Also we have paid for parts of the ground including seats, tarmaccing, turnstiles(friendly with sunderland) etc.

It's not owned by the MFA actually.

adamd164
11/02/2009, 8:24 AM
Correct, it's not even owned by the FAI. They have a long-term lease, they let the MFA run it, and we rent it off them.

Canadian family. FAI have a long-term lease on it. 100 years I think.

Up for renewal in about 2095.

so are you saying cork FC paid a landlord gants to build stands. When if cork leave they have no ownership of anything. Why would you do that.

No. We're saying the MFA applied for the grants on the basis of having a LOI team in the ground The stuff we paid for, we did for the good of ourselves. Weve been here longterm and are likely to be for a while, worthwhile investment

adamd164
11/02/2009, 5:56 PM
What do you mean if we leave?

I'm confident the county council of 2095, whoever those good folks will be, won't be rezoning the only football stadium in the county.

The Football Association of Ireland is ready to apply for planning permission to install extra seating at Drogheda’s United Park later this year.

The FAI is the landlord of the ground, which requires development work in order to meet the necessary licensing requirements for Drogheda United to take its place in the Premier Division in 2009.

Although no work will take place before the new season’s March 6th start date, Drogheda will be given a derogation on the understanding that some refurbishment will take place in the near future.

According to the Drogheda Independent, as many as 1400 seats could be installed on the terrace behind the goal at the ground’s North Road end.

Drogheda had planned to construct a brand-new 10,000-seater stadium outside the town but the project met with massive delays which eventually precipitated the club’s financial implosion late last year.

If you go TC will still be used, i'm sure - just a different tenant

Well it might interest you to know that Cork City is the longest serving LOI club in the county in our 25th season now, and every year I've been supporting them people have said the same crap about us going down the pan.

They haven't yet got the satisfaction.

We dont really recognise Cobh to be honest. So much so there is a huge effort to try and have it removed and attached onto Dublin somewhere near Howth. The opposing voices are all saying the price of property would plummet having them attached onto the head land. We live in hope though

But we're longer serving in the LOI than Cobh!

I added up all the years the various clubs have served for in the past, then juxtaposed them with our current total. Why, what other ways would there be of doing it?!

Cobh Ramblers entered the LOI in 1985.

You should have said "The longest serving LOI club in Cork", not "in the country". Lots of clubs are older than you.

It has cost us €50k but has cost €250k in total, the supplier covering the majority of the cost.
