It may never happen.
Nice post by the way, really added depth to the conversation.

Behind both goals, 3,000 behind each.

Will the temporary seats remain there after the game or are they just for one game?
I know they're temporary, but that can just mean they stay there until the ground gets developed, whenever that may be- take the Brandywell PSG temporary seating for instance.

The capacity for the Newcastle/Hibs friendlies will be circa 6,000, so it seems one temporary stand will be in place for all of July, the other just for los galacticos. I'm not sure whether that one remaining temp stand will stay in place until the new stand is finished...I'd guess that it'll be taken down at the end of the 'festival of football' and capacity will revert to 3,500 until the new permanent stand is finished a few weeks later.

Anyone know what the story is with Rovers' seat colours in the stadium? Surely it should be green and white all round

According to a rather vicious email I got off SDCC which firstly accused me of being a Rovers fan (!!!!), its to make it look better on TV, comparing it to the random coloured seats in some Italian stadiums. Which are individually different colours, not blocks; and a secondary reason of it "not being Shamrock Rovers stadium".
My original complaint was that it was a visual eyesore with the random blocks and that as they were spending a lot of money on it they should make it look as nice as possible... not "make it green and white for Rovers" like they managed to read it as!

Why should it... Rovers don't own the ground. It's upto SDCC what to do with the ground. Isn't there a rugby crowd moving in soon??

Never considered this point tbh :o Even still though, the random seat colour arrangement looks ridiculous IMO.

Yeah I agree, the multicolour seats look awful in random patches. Would look alot better in green and white even though its not owned by Rovers, do they not think it would look better as a ground with at least a pattern of colouring??

And when will it be finished?
Will be opened for our game on August 22nd.

Great to see. Its a ground that the league can be proud off. Im green with envy and id say its a great buzz to be heading to that ground every second week. Best of luck with it.

I didnt rate the actual playing surface when we played up there a while back, thought the grass was abit long and awful, it will be a hell of a stadium once the new stand is up and running? WIll there be home fans based in the new stand too or will it just be for away fans(I know it will never be full if just for away fans)

RTE are still refusing to use the new purpose-built TV gantry at Terryland. Instead, they plonk their camera in the new pressbox of the new stand. Originally, RTE were invited to make suggestions for the design of the new TV gantry and in fact, it was built to their exact specifications.
It is important that LOI grounds are best shown in their best light but RTE aren't playing ball.
I noticed that the TV cameras have moved in the Showgrounds. They have moved over to the other side of the ground which portrays the the newer stand in Sligo which looks very impressive on MNS.
It makes me wonder why the RTE cameras operate from the newer stand at Cork City? The other side of the ground looks crap on TV.

We have always had a gantry above the shed apart from the year we "won" the promotion/relegation playoff but we didnt have any live games that season. The following season we had a roof put on the shed and a gantry put in place above it and it was used by both the club and by either TV3 or RTE for any of our live games to date. It faces the main stand. I think they try to get them to face the main stands as in Richmond it faces the covered stand, Dalymount it faces the big long covered stand etc etc.

no room for it on the derrynane side of the pitch (and it would be very low as the stand is not very high). the way the cameras are now shows displays in the shed when the team comes out which looks good.

Not sure. It was earmarked for this summer. As far as i know its still going to happen but the plans have had to be adjusted 2 or 3 times and then put back out for public viewing each time. So once everybody is happy building will start. The funding is still in place from what iv heard.

There has been a very important addition to the facilities at Terryland which will put a smile on everyones face. New club sponsors, Pappa John Pizza, have set up an outlet to sell there pizzas at all home games.
The pepperoni pizza slice will challenge the Mon Dog at Monaghan for the best food at a LOI stadium.

I know.
The Development is key to the future funding of the club so the commercial side of the development will be considerable. I think they are considering closing the Lilywhite Lounge moving the bar to the new development and extending the dressing room area in the main stand..

No mention of the necessary rezoning or the ginormous shopping proposals already earmarked for the town. Looks like kite flying rather than a feasible proposal on first glance but best of luck. the site has always had obvious potential for something really progressive whilst retaining a decent little stadium.
Harps Stadium Situation Update at EGM:
STADIUM WORK TO RECOMMENCE SHORTLY
On a separate front, shareholders also received an update on the Stadium project.*They were advised that while initial groundworks had progressed, that same had stalled over the last month or two while some legal documentation required by the Chief State Solicitor was being prepared.*The documentation is required to enable the first drawdown of grant funding approved by the Department.*Shareholders were advised that the paperwork was well advanced in this regard, and positive news on this front would be expected shortly.
