There's a three phase plan. What you're looking at is phase 1. Phase 2 would involve covering all of the existing stand and building a similar sized stand at the other side. Phase 3 would see stands put behind both goals. I don't know how real or likely the other two phases are but they exist in writing and are allegedly targetted to be completed in 5 years.

Derry City Council today agreed in principle to hand-over the ground to Brandywell Properties. BP is a subsidiary established by DCFC to hand the ground issue. It is made up of current and former board members
SDLP/Sinn Fein voted unanimously in favour. DUP abstained.
Brandywell Properties/DCFC now have 6 months to prove that they can get funding in place.
No excuses now - its now all in our court.

I was out in athlone/Lissywollen today working and was hugely disappointed to realise that only two-thirds maxmum of the seating in ATFC'S new stand is fully sheltered from the elements. Was this known from the start? It's a big let down to go to all that trouble of building what overall looks like a great facility but is in essence not fit for purpose. I presume the shell of a stand in tallaght will be of the same construction if it is ever finished

In fairness, a stand that is two thirds protected from Proboscidean rampages isn't bad going.
It's not like there's that many around the midland anyway. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elephant)

It definitely looks better than what was there but I thought it was going to be a little better.
Why are the seats green? Is it a paddy power thing?
Or are they from landsdowne road or something?
EDIT: Obvioulsy I wont really know what it's like until I'm there. Could make for a good four sided atmosphere.

So what was Pats total seated capacity for the game last night ?
As temporary(permanent in reality just it'll be demolished soon) fixtures go the stand not bad at all .

With the green seats and all it looks almost identical to the temporary stand Wexford Youths have (or had I think they've replaced it with a smaller one since the last time I was down). Difference being Pats have it on a permanent foundation.

I tried counting the seats from the photo Danny linked to yesterday, looks like the two mini-blocks at either end are 10 wide x 9 deep. The three main blocks each look 25 wide x 9 deep. Add in a few extra seats in the very back row where they don't have to worry about blocking aisles and you're looking at approx 870 in total.

New TV gantry and interview room (I kid you not) in old stand at Terryland. It will be ready in 2 weeks time
Also, old seats being replaced with shiny new ones - see photo. Fans are taking old ones away as souvenirs.

Are there plans to do any work behind any of the goals? Terryland is fast becoming one of the best grounds in the country, good to see also that the new stand will be shown on the cameras.

Terryland is starting to look the part now even the old stand! Have any seats had to be permanently removed to accomodate access to the new TV Gantry?

From the photo it looks to me that this would not be the case as it is a standing area at the back of the old stand that has been used for access.

Bohs deal well on the road. Hopefully all legal agreements will be signed before the year end and already one large six figure sum has been received by Bohs. Will be at least 3 years before we are in Harristown.
Just found this thread now. Not going to go through 40 pages to find an update! What's the latest with this? Things seem to have gone very quiet.
Also... any update re; Tallaght and the GAAliban; Drogs; and Finn Harps?

It looks like most of the old press box has been demolished to make room for the access. Hope the new box is as good as the old one.

Terryland is looking quality. It was only eight years ago when there was no stand. Now we have two seated stands on either side.
All we need now is a lot more arses on those maroon seats to make it even better.

There are new press facilities in the new stand.
although, that aside, terryland is looking well now to be fair.
also how much is the 1500 seater stand costing?
it would be ideal if the fai/league got that made into a standard design with the builders and build it in other grounds which need development
cost will be around 1.5m when underneath facilities are complete stand will be in use for game v sunderland on 1st aug for spectators but underneath wont be ready until oct

is there any chance of building a few hundred seats behind the housing end. theres a car park between the ground and houses. could put a decent enough 500 seater stand in that end , to give it a better look.as its a bit bare just having a wall now
there is definately room at the car park end. especially when you consider the design of the new stand (i.e. very steep and not really too deep).
there would also be room at the clubhouse end as the clubhouse will be practically defunct anyway, i would have thought, when the facilities are finished under the new stand.
in all honesty though it would only be building the stands for the sake of building them. the capacity will be 5,000 when new stand opens and there will be very few games each year (if any) which would attract more supporters than that.
the new stand is at minimum 3 times the width of the space that is behind the goals, unless you mean building out into the car park also?

yes and no
i wouldn't expect the stand to be the same height or capacity. perhaps half the size therefore it would only need to go into the car park by a few feet - but the room is there anyway by going into the carpark if we ever did want a bigger stand. the club house end could also house a similar sized stand down the line.

Rovers plan to press ahead with move to Tallaght
24/07/2007 - 09:15:53
Shamrock Rovers have announced they are to press ahead with their move to Tallaght Stadium.
The club plans to have relocated to the south Dublin venue in time for the start of the 2008 season.
Court proceedings taken by GAA club Thomas Davis are pending, but Rovers have issued a dossier explaining that they can move to the new stadium without their legal position being affected.
Rovers say they can complete the main stand structure and auxiliary works without prejudicing any outcome in the High Court

Tallaght Stadium: Shamrock Rovers could be playing in their new home by the start of next season if proposals to allow work to restart on the Tallaght Stadium get the go-ahead.
South Dublin County Council (SDCC) are considering an FAI-backed initiative by the club that could see builders return to the idle site at Whitestown Way.
Rovers believe their proposals will not prejudice High Court proceedings after the Tallaght-based Thomas Davis GAA club challenged a decision to develop the council-funded stadium for the playing of soccer only.
Rovers - the intended anchor tenants - maintain they are "completely open" to other sports being played at the stadium and believe some work can be carried out to open the ground during the time the court case, which is scheduled for October, runs its course.
The club insists these works, once completed, can accommodate any alterations that may be required in the event of Gaelic games being granted access to the stadium. "Once we heard there was leave for application for the judicial review we looked into how we could work within the parameters of the High Court ruling and try to get into the stadium as soon as possible," club director James Nolan said.
FAI chief executive John Delaney recently put the proposals to SDCC on the club's behalf. Rovers' directors will meet council officials later this week when an outcome could be given. These proposals focus on the completion of the existing - but only partially constructed - main stand and the addition of temporary seating.
Rovers are confident the erection of such seats would not be in breach of the terms stipulated by Mr Justice O'Neill when awarding the judicial review.
The main stand, left idle for years owing to previous financial difficulties at the club, has no roof, no seats and internal structures are incomplete. However, Rovers maintain its location and layout does not require alteration to facilitate Gaelic games, should the need arise.
"This is a simple plan," said Nolan. "We'll finish the main stand structure but not put the wraparounds at the ends. We will also finish auxiliary works around the outside of the stadium and put temporary stands on three sides of the ground.
"It is costing the council roughly €13,000 per month to maintain the stadium in its current state. We want to get into a working facility straight away."
Some 3,000 supporters would be facilitated in the main stand with another 4,000 divided between the temporary structures. Similar temporary seating is being used by Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds.
While Thomas Davis are entitled to seek a court injunction against the Shamrock Rovers proposal, to do so would "really show them up", Nolan believes. "That would prove to the general public Thomas Davis don't want us playing there. If really and truly they had no problem with us playing in Tallaght they would be behind this plan 100 per cent."
A Rovers delegation met Thomas Davis officials in May when the soccer club expressed a desire to play in Tallaght next season. According to Nolan, "they (Thomas Davis) had no great objection to it".
A spokesman for Thomas Davis could not be contacted last evening. Rovers will undertake structural surveys of the site and seek further legal advice prior to work restarting should SDCC give the go-ahead this week.
The club is also awaiting the thoughts of new Minister for Sport Seamus Brennan. His predecessor, John O'Donoghue, had vigorously supported Rovers in their fight for relocation.
Local Fianna Fail TD Charlie O'Connor is "satisfied and confident the (new) Minister will want to see this issue through". "It is time this was solved," he said. "There is a big, big bank of support for Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght . . . and a strong view that this issue should be put to bed."
