That's great news. Will the new stand be opposite the current one?
Yes it will. The RSC will finally resemble of what you might call, a football ground.

I think Athlones stadium is pretty cool.... You can probably put a second tier above it and get 25,000 in the door if it goes the whole way around.
with as population of approx. 15,000 (http://www.cso.ie/census/documents/census2006_volume_1_pop_classified_by_area.pdf)* I wouldn't think that the upper tier phase of Athlone Town stadium (Lissywollen) is planned for oh, say, what, maybe 30 years or so!
ps - it was pie in the sky ideas like yours above that has your club in the situation you find yerselves in today!!!

First time up in Oriel since they did it up - still not convinced about the pitch, but the ground looks a lot better. Much neater, new shed looks good, various bits of old metal and random shrubberies are gone too.

Arkaga apparently has plans for us to build a 28,000-30,000 all seater stadium, my guess would be in the new Docklands development.

That site was only mentioned in passing, they are looking at a number of sites for the last while. They are looking for 12-14 acres and it will be a multi functional ground so concerts can be held there too. Also mentioned having 5-a-side pitches there too.

Apparently the Belfield Bowl will be getting a cantilever stand over the whole of the seats in the next couple of years.

well, a few months later, and work has recommenced on our new stand, the foreigners were kicked out, and a few dubs have come to help us out, by firstly ripping down what was built of the seating section, apparently they don't have a clue as to why an engineer passed it to be built,
two dates iv'e heard for completion are end of september and end of november, hopefully september,

the people of cork paid for the Lodge, it was sold to the Bigots by the AOh due to the poor management and effective corruption by successive Cork (United, Athletic, Hibs) clubs.

A little wooden shed has appeared in the Bowl. It looks like the type of thing you'd get in a garden centre.

Leinster has a match in the Bowl on 15th September so I presume everything will be finished by then.
I was over there just now to watch Ireland train and it seems finished except for half a fence to be put down on the stand side and the turnstiles haven't been installed.

Where did Richmond Parks stand disappear to?
A lot more temporary than anticipated then.

You can't have a temporary stand getting in the way on a site when you're building a permanent one, I presume.

Relevant to the FAI Cup Final, new bucket seats are half installed in the Angelsea (Main) Stand in the RDS (it spells R and D at the minute) and the framework for the temporary stands on the other 3 sides is in the process of being put up.
They are considerably bigger than the stands installed a few years ago for the Leinster games. I hope the nuts and bolts are well tightened...
New floodlights look the biz as well.

I would guess they'll be a no standing area if FAI Cup Final held there then?

A good bulldozer would be better then a roofer. Then build a proper stand instead of doing what was done to Tolka 17 years ago

Possibly so that the whole ground has proper metered admission?
I don't think the new turnstiles are installed in the St. Annes end at all.

Ah, but we haven't owned any of our $hitholes (including the current one)
See, not our fault :p
Anyway, who knows, this (http://foot.ie/showthread.php?t=72085) might even actually be built at some stage :)

What exactly is happening there?
Sounds like they reckon they'll need the extra capacity for those games and obviously wouldn't have anything new built in time. Probably a sensible move.
