Ah, they're two different things.

Promoted sides are left to fight for themselves and relegated sides too - which is why some sides are yo-yo clubs too good for one league and not good enough for the next level up. Boostings are generally where a team has been manager-less or inactive for a long time missing Change Reports and then a new manager comes in.

In order to make that team at least competitive for the new manager, they can be boosted to the average skill level of that league by the admin.

Just wondering- is it potentially a bad idea to accept friendlies against teams from higher divisions? Won't the inevitable hammerings just wreck a lot of players form?

There's been 2 new teams since the season ended, I've boosted them as they're going to be going into Division 2 and all the other teams there have been around for a season now. Should I boost any others?

There's 31 teams now, so to make things even I think I'll de-activate the manager who's been inactive the longest length of time, which is thischarmingman. Then I'll create a new season with 3 divisions of 10, 3 up and 3 down playing twice a week, same as this season then. That ok with everyone?

No. :)

The form is affected by the performance in the games and in some aspect the results of the game. There are a lot of factors involved but to be general you can take this as a fact:

1) The size of the form changes are depending on the player's current form. If the player gets a positive affect on the form the form change is percentage of the form the player doesn't (the form left to 20 form bars). If the player gets a negative affect on the form the form change is percentage of the form the player current has. This means that if a player has a high form the form reductions will be bigger and the form increases will be smaller and vice versa.

2) Directly after the match all players in the squad will get a normal form update that has nothing to do with the match itself and is only depending on the players' hidden form tendency and a random value. This normal update will mostly have greater affect than any form affect due to the match.

3) The form changes due to performances and results in a match are depending on you and your opponents team strength. If you play a match against a team that is weaker than your team the team is expected to win and therefore the form will not be affected very much if you win. But if your team play against a stronger opponent the form increase if you win will be greater. This also works vice versa so if you lose against a weaker team the negative affect on the players will be greater.

This means that if you have are weak team you will NOT get affected by the losses as much. And if you have a really strong team you will not gain very much form when you win or perform well cause you are expected to win.

4) The team parts has some simple mission (very general speaking)
* The goalkeeper is supposed to prevent the opponents from scoring on the chances they have created
* The defenders is supposed to prevent the opponents from creating chances
* The midfielders are supposed to create chances
* The forwards are supposed to score on the chances

If a team part succeed in its "mission" the players in that team part will get a positive affect on the form proportional to the extent of the success.

This means that if the team creates 15 chances and no goals. The midfielders will get a quite a significant form increase but the forwards will get quite a significant form reduction.

The actual result of the game, if you win or you lose or the match ends in a draw is NOT very important to the form changes.

Conclusion:
The form changes due to match performances are depending on your opponent. If you win against teams that are stronger then yes you will get a bigger positive affect in the player's form. But if you lose a match against a stronger opponent you might still get a positive affect on the players' form if the team made a good performance. The form changes are depending on your team's performance compared to what was expected from the team against that opponent.

They really did nothing for the Premier this season - won a couple of games and just folded. So much for the team that would last 1000 years. Is Dahamsta actually managing them in anything other than name? If he is, fair enough. But if he is not interested - good night.

Not too happy with my change report, only 6 visible increases, at least I had no neagative ones I suppose.
Squad is very thin and a really need a quality young striker, there's a real danger the three older lads might retire at the end of the season.
Any VIPS interested my 7 skilled 24 year old striker is for sale, he's got a good record for me and he's a leader, he'd do very well in the lower divisions.

15 average form is what you should be aiming for really. Bit higher for players that are 16-20 and lower for late 20s upward.

Your xpert rating is at 100; you need 95 to have two private league teams so when your VIP runs out you would lose the team that has it's change report next. You'd need an xpert rating of 115 to keep all of your sides.

What playing style did you use? 343 is actually quite good against 352, it just would have needed defensive playing style (perhaps even very defensive due to the difference in the strength of each side).

dfx-
04/10/2009, 1:10 AM
343 normal. 6-0 result, but obviously strength difference over-rides pretty much everything except the form gain for both sides.

Wanted to play Hedman, Cobh and Haggander, but forgot and had youths in...didn't even put in a playmaker. :o

I actually threw in a good few of my own young lads seeing as it's preseason and they could do with a lift.

Still, it seems to have helped my form if anything, weirdly enough.

Aye, true. Just making a general point on the use of it though. :) A particular formation is never too defensive or offensive to use, whether that be at home or away in >90% of situations as long as you get the playing style correct.

Played against another 3-4-3 normal today in the Master League. 4-1 hammering. More of that please - on the back of a 2-3 win against 4-3-3 last week with me playing offensive 3-5-2 away. I love playing 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 :D

They were fairly old though..they've three 39 year olds in their squad.

Normal with 343 away though is suicide unless you are definitely the stronger team.

dfx I don't think tactics is enoughh to warrant a 6-2 mauling. Is form really low? Jesus, completely over shadows our win over forest :D

Burts are obviously to be watched...strong midfield and forward ratings. DBS back to their best? And GoS start with an impressive draw at Loftys. This could be a really interesting season - might be worth going VIP again. Mind you results are improved since I dropped it. lol

We won 3-6 three days beforehand with the exact same team but with tactics.

The default tactics are set to offensive..which is why we gave away so many chances and no Cobh, Breen on low form, Melet etc.

Same team went 343 this week away against our main rivals who went 352 like me and a similar skill level to us. They were held to a 2-2 draw having created double the chances..so obviously it does work.

It's not that bad...but you have way to many. 6 would be standard, 7 should be the most you have at any time depending on how many youths you have. I'd sell three of them and buy a a few youths there as you only have a 19/5 for the future.
