5. Provisional SRFC How rubbish must have the team who finished second in Season 6 been ;)

I agree. They should be drummed out of the league for failing to finish above that shower;):D

Season 6 - Best. Season. Ever!

Ernst Graupe actually scored a goal:eek: That's a whole 2 goals in 25 appearances now.

A really useful and slightly flattering win, but I'll take it:)

[And 2nd place again...]

It may be a bit naughty, but there is another rather good league going into it's fourth season based on the Eircom League (i.e. 22 teams named for the current teams) that is looking for six managers (all div 1 sides, five 5* teams, one 4*, top teams in league are 7*, and only four of them).

If you are interested in challenging, Lofty, Holidaysong, myself, and some other folk, in a different league, click in with LeagueID 124760.

I hope some of you join us.

Have to win on Saturday now or I will look like a right eejit!

In fairness, if you win by less than four goals, you will look a right eejit - we;'re the weakest team in the top flight, and you are the strongest team in the league by a good bar (aside the Provos). Nope. The only team that would be humiliated by three nil would not be the Gates...

No pressure!

EDIT: @rse, won't get a chance to do up a responding press release until Sunday evening now. But I will then, and by Murris Liffey's left feet, I will have my vengeance on thee!

Great win and great performance at the Forest especially after a home defeat and a week off with some changes.

DP...your form has gone up so much, that the skill has duly increased and as with the change report, when the skill increases, the form plummets..it's a vicious circle

That only happens with the change report- there's never any skill change during the season. It's just random form tendancy. Nothing to do with winning or losing games.

Provisional SRFC 3-2 UCD AFC

After the beatings handed to us last season, that is an especially nice win which will be increasingly rare if ever..

Looks like a new title holder - Pants? - and really surprised to see Holidaysong FC that far adrift...still think they'll rally late on.

Balls. Just ONE subtle (but significant) mistake in tactics for my last two matches results in 1/6pts when without these 6/6pts guaranteed.:( Stuff I wouldn't normally do as well.

9 points is not an insurmountable gap for me to overcome. Need to beat Pants obviously but if that happens only need a couple of slip-ups from them which is bound to happen. Have to worry about other teams as well though. Four teams I think with a shout of winning the league this season at this moment in time (Wexford will start to slip without their first choice keeper who has earned them quite a few points this season).

Another 3-2 win, but useful ME gained this time around - kinda got out of jail too..

Have to say this focus of man-marking Cobh this season is proving dangerous and really bearing fruit for the other players - Boyle this and other weeks, Isgren last week

Finally after 7 games I got my form at the level I want- if we play like that every week we will win all our games. Good news for lucanhoop is that our form is even higher after that match. :)

Even taking into account winning all our games against the teams above us, which is a must if we are to win the title, it is difficult to see if they will drop enough points from other games to allow us to capatalise as we will not win all our remaining games. I think we will get top 3 but close to call after that.

To save me wading through pages and pages, is there a link for a league all you guys are in? I just joined.

Ta, I'll take over Dundalk.
You gonna join in? You haven't even logged in yet.:p

Similarly, if me and five mates played the 1928 St James Gate team now, we'd destroy them. I think you'll find that the Alberts had only a slightly older age profile as yours did when they went out of existence, yet were a dramatically better side all around, as evidenced by failing to finish sixth, or indeed failing to finish outside of the top one over their last four seasons:D

They'd a decent manager too:p

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but a decent result that most newly promoted sides would be proud of.

Drunk Babysitters 1-1 UCD AFC
Pants AFC 2-1 Holidaysong FC
Gates of Steel 2-1 Landenstown Forest
Wexford Boys 0-1 Provisional SRFC 77th minute winner - the Boys edged it on possession, but the Provos had way more chances

Ah that's not so bad, hopefully form won't take too much of a hit and my first choice keeper is back now too. I'm just hoping I can get safe in time to give the younger lads 100% experience. I'll probably start throwing them in anyway, as long term it'll pay off more.

Possession: 54-46
Chances: 1-6

It was long past squeaky bum time - we scored with our last chance and Wexford's only chance came one minute later.

Then Pants got a last minute winner and Holidaysong FC missed a penalty at 1-1..

The opposite to the first game, but still we were 1-0 up in injury time at home, so still disappointing..

Tonight:

Primera Liga

Finn Harps 3-1 Holidaysong FC
Landenstown Forest 1-1 UCD AFC
Gates of Steel 2-3 Provisional SRFC
Pants AFC 0-2 Wexford Boys

Division 1

Cobh Ramblers 0-3 Lofty's Lazy 11
Ragball Rovers 5-0 Sligo Starlets
Dundalk FC 0-4 Patsy's Fags
SRFC Sligo Rovers 1-2 Burton Albion

Got away with both Gates of Steel games, but it was the turn of Hedman to capitalise this week and a good result at The Crystal Lake..

A close one alright. The better team did win, but only just. A second very positive showing from the Gates against one of the best teams in the league, but no points on the table for either effort, and Harps win against Holidaysong drops us back into relegation spots. Our little canter may well be over...

Just back from my holidays...and my couple of weeks away from the puter looks like its gonna cost me dearly - form is rock bottom and beaten by Wexford. Our run in is rough too. GofS should be confident.
