The reason why Alberts are so far ahead is because the Bearded one's youth stars in Killorglin, Carrick and Shannon are maturing into giants in terms of skill levels right now. We have Cobh at a similar level, but that's it.
Good news everyone - just got offered another 18yr old midfielder with a six skill! It will probably be a couple of seasons before he has the chance to get into the first team with the current squad though That Ulster is a bench warmer was unthinkable for us about three seasons ago.

if you hold back and dont just take a chance on every youth that comes your way do you then get offered better quality ones?? or is it still just a lottery??
i generally always take a chance on them but the quality usually isnt up to much
I reckon it is pretty much a lottery. I generally hold back, largely because it means that I have space to take someone in if they are good enough. Kilorglin came in at 6 about two or three seasons ago. I wouldn't expect another good one for a spell.
No guarantee that this new kid will be any good, by the way.

Ive been giving the ones with 1 or 2 special q's a go lately. Salthill and Hanner the most recent, they both had bassists and goals last night. Good thing about the first is you can give the 4-5 rated young fellas experience and they get goals etc. Have a nice few young lads coming up, so if I can get promoted this year, and hang in for a season or two. We'll have a nice wee side.

Do you reckon that putting groupies in your line-up will help in the long term?
No need to worry, I'm already wearing me coat.

Delighted to get the win- if only I had gotten the three points last week I'd be four points clear and only have two other teams to worry about. Starlets-Fags is a big game this week.
Just been looking for desperate inspiration from our old games against Flynny's Knees:o
Took four seasons to beat us and when they did, it was 4-0 and Shannon, Carrick, Navan, Tengvall and Kilmainham who did it. Nice to see some things never change :( :D
Leaking far too many goals now:mad:

:mad: Lucky guess of the playmaker costs me victory.
Only two points between the top four now, with the First Divisoin's equivilent of Super Sunday coming up next.
Fags vs Burton
UCD vs Starlets
If ourselves and the Starlets play like we did tonight we will hammer them. Only an if though, although their form is poor so looks like they will under perform again.

Good win for me against the Starlets after a few shaky weeks of indifferent form. But it came at a cost. injuries picked up by 2 players. I'm hoping that we're over dip in form and can drive on. Tough game to Burton now who we owe from the last match(4-1 loss). Win here and I'm in a great position...lose and I've a lot of hard work ahead.
At the least I don't have to play anyone in the top 4 after the Burton game but with the few inactive teams now active no one is a pushover anymore.Going to be an interesting close to the season.

I was waiting till those games to get everyone to 100%. Might still now but need results in my next two games or else it will be a big risk.

I was going to do thwe exact same thing actually so I'm in the same catch 22 situation as you. I'll prob chance a one or two players regardless...

on a different note i actually cant see anyone catching flynnys anytime soon, i forsee a rosenberg type sceanrio prevailing if they keep improving, just cant see anyone getting near them :(
Muah-ha-haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Incidentally, I reckon (and have here before) that if UCD can get promoted and sort their old away form problem out, we'll all have to watch out.
I also expect Landenstown to hand us a thumping tomorrow.
Good result against the Provos though. Pity the loss of three quality players and an injury to Valentia stopped the game being the display of quality it could have been.
One question though: How does Liffey still get a game?

One chance per game the Lazy 11 have created in their last 4 matches. Doing well. ;)
To be honest, all my players had a green arrow for the last match. I thought I might sneak a point.
One question though: How does Liffey still get a game?
We believe in him...not many else do, but we do :D
Ok, so he's not a Carrick, Shannon, Camoranesi, Milbourne, Boyle or Valentia...

He's not even a Pádriagh Canavan or Braden Rosslare - he wouldn't even be a sub for Sligo Rovers:eek:

Needed that win today (ahead of the trip to Canalside :o ). Another goal for young Borgstrand today  5 in 4 games now for the 4 rated 19yo - too bad he went off injured.
ALberts 1-1 Forest
Loftys 4-4 Cobh
Pants 2-1 Provos
Sligo 0-4 Babysitters
C1830 1-3 Wexford
Another 5 rated performance from the defence, 1 win from 5 and rooted in mid-table. Form in midfield and upfront is very good, but won't make any difference if we keep going 0-2 down.
Silverspjut is on dodgy territory if this rubbish continues.

I think I should be safe enough now and can make sure all the youngsters get to 100%.

have made a massive error in the last few games. Never realised i9 had my 5 rated goalkeeper in goals, with an in form 8 rated keeper on the bench. The lad has ben woeful and i thinks its going to cost me promotion.:(:(
Very useful side in Division 2 of the Master League in the Job Centre ;)
DmanDmythDledge
31/07/2008, 10:26 PM
where is the job centre?? just had a bit of a scout around there and i couldn't find it
Log into your xpert team and it should be on the tab on the left.
There's a better team available in Div 2 of the Golden League though. ;)
Couple of good teams there actually. None of them can tempt me though, despite only being Div 5.:p
Yeh, but the Golden League is not the Master League ;)
Just looked, lucanhoop - you just renamed your team and if you do that, you can't apply for any new jobs for another 3 months afterwards, so the job centre which should appear on the menu on the left of your Xpert Team won't show up.
6-0 :eek::)
Davidsson and Maynooth went on a rampage..Davidsson's best ever rating. Form is very high among a lot of players...too late though:rolleyes:

With all due respect of the top 4 you have only played Burton Albion. The top 4 this season are a cut above the rest. I'll make a proper judgement after your last three games.;)
Messed up at the weekend- forgot to do my bloody team again.
Still only two points between the top four, with Burton vs Starlets on Tuesday only game left between the top sides. Tricky one myself against that defence I'll be facing.
You're welcome to the league, lofty. :)

Was on edge until the 81st minute. Demian finally comes good.
Fags are in freefall at the moment and have a tough away game up next. Burton and Starlets draw which was best result for me. Tricky game up next but should get the win.
Really have to sort out this defence. The result doesn't matter.

Was out of town since Friday afternoon - but no excuse for the Forest game, theres no legislating for conceding two direct freekicks. No excuses for todays game either really, if I had got back with a bit more time to spare I'd have realise I should tight mark Ravenhill - but fairplay to the Babysitters turning out to be a force.
Forests perserverence will pay off eventually, obviously not this season but in the next 2-3.... mind you I thought that about my own team!!! But it deffo looks like X11 is slowly "phasing in" a new elite - which is good for the league in the long run.

I'd definitely agree. Complete new world order at the top these days. Wexford and the DBS really have made their mark in the top flight now, and Landenstown the only team to stop us winning in both ties this season, and the last side to beat us (that 5-1 whopping last season. With UCD the strongest team in the First, and probably likely to be one of the top three or four in the Premier, it could be a fair tussle next season.

i set up to tight mark camonrensi (bad spelling i know) but it didn't register, same thing happened for both teams on my xpert ladies team

Two places available in the NPL private league. Code- 85782. One of the highest ranked leagues (inside top 40), regular PRs, multiple VIP prizes and all managers active (120) it is a very enjoyable league. I'd definitely recommend it if you have got the quota.
Right time to be playing us :(

Massive game for me tonight, really need to put space between me and relegation, if I lose, I'm back in the relegation zone. Again taking a risk by not fielding my strongest side but want some of the younger lads to get match experience.
