is there any benefit in training players now before the CR? Will it give them much of a boost? survived by the skin of me teeth!

Well I'm promoted and got all my players to 100% experience so I'm happy. Some team orders might have helped stop me losing 4-1 against 10 men in the last game, but I was already up so the experience was all that mattered. Not expecting a great change report as a lot of players struggled a bit for form so I'd say I'll struggle in the top division.

No, credit where it's due, you did your bit to keep hopes there all season by nicking points here and there, and are well worth your fifth spot finish - defeated every one of the top four, and only two points off the team that looked promoted up with an hour gone yesterday. A great performance from us, but your result could so easily have been vital. I hope to be able to return the favour some time in season 13, when you'll have been just promoted, based on your form!
Fascinating to see that up until the 62 minute of both games, it looked over for me - a man down and a goal down, and the Fags a goal up - I wouldn't have expected anything at that point.
The friendly against Sligo this weekend should be interesting to see if they have improved at all since we hammered them in preseason:p

Train players that av form of above 10 now. Their form will plummet after the CR.

I hope I get a nice enough CR because I'll be eaten alive by the big boys next season if not!
After winning 5 of our last 6, it's a bit annoying that we threw away the start of the season and some of the late defeats we had, but still glad to hold on and to fourth with a game to spare (and third after our 16 games) when we were eighth a few weeks in.
Maybe some more notable personnel changes soon..Boyle is beginning to run out of steam after seasons of injuries. Will be interesting how long more we can hang on in the top league with the new sides..

Change report tonight lads (well tonight here anyway). Gonna be a mixture of plusses and no changes. 6 x AF14, 3 x AF15, 1 x AF16, 4 x AF12, 1 x AF11, 2 x AF10. Everyone up to 100% except Cansund at 93%.
Predicting
DEF: Olausson up to 9, Sjolund up to 7, Slaney up to 6, Tone up to 7
MID: Janson up to 7, Jensen up to 8 (pushing it though)
FWD: Borgstrand up to 6, Winger up to 6
Haggerstrom has AF14, but think he'll stay at 8 (don't know what his last report was like). Stapleton has AF14, but he'll stay at 10 as last years increase was unexpected.
Need a midfielder for next year. Contemplating another keeper too.

29/01/2009, 6:28 PM
1 x 17
3 x 16
7 x 15
5 x 14
2 x 12
All have 100%, bar Stringheim who has 0%. He will be shipped out. Somewhere around 1.4/1.5m. Anyway predicting:
Marney +2
Skaggmark +1
Sligo +1
Gorka +1
Garrity +1
Szarmach +1
Redondo +1
Joycer +1
Good few touch and goes as well.
Just need an old defener and young striker to be fully happy with squad.

Good CR. Olausson 9. Slaney 6. Tone 7. Sjolund 7. Jansen 7. Wingfield 6. Borgstrand 6.
Surprises: Alvarsson 8. Weijden 8. McKenzie 10. :eek:
All but two had an increases and only one or two actually had visible increases. Thought it might have been a bit better but happy enough all the same.
Have to say I'm pleased with that
Dolan +1
O'Leary +1
Killaloe +1
Bursic +1
Boyle +1
Cobh +1
Debbi +1
Gyllensten +1
Apart from Isgren and Dolan, the base skill level is seven..and overall eight

Thought some players were due a bigger increase, but by and large happy with what I got.
It'll be some battle for us to stay up next season - cannot see one team likely to finish beneath us in the table, much less three. Another season or two in the first would probably have been in our longer term interest. Still, nice to be able to bounce back from self imposed relegation at the first attempt.

Balls, didn't get Sjoholm and Mushi to go up. Apart from that OK.
Also Stringheim and Kerrigan on the transfer list.

I'd jump ship to a different team now if I were you. Your team at the moment doesn't have much potential and if promoted would probably be in Div 6 for a couple of seasons. If you switch you would get a savage team with your ranking.

Nine visible increases, one no change, one decrease not visible the rest increased but not visible. Can't complain but I'll still struggle big time next season. Trying to strengthen a bit but not much cash.

After 3 months with the same Xpert team you can go to the Job Centre to apply to take over a different club. It doesn't affect your rating.

I think you only have to wait three months if you have changed your team name (which only can be done at the end of the season). 3 months is about the length of one full season.

Hmmm, interesting. Been with Bucharest for ages now, and feel I've taken them as far as I can, wouldn't mind a new challenge.
5-1 from 6 chances in 30 minutes :eek:
I know it was a weakened side in poor form against a strong looking Lazy Lot, but still..:eek:

Maybe only 2 up 2 down? It's a pretty big jump in standard, some teams might be better off building in the lower division for a bit. Even a playoff for the third spot if that could be done. Otherwise the format is grand.

Actually yeah only having two relegated would be great. :D
If there's to be nine in each division, then definitely two up two down gets my vote. A third of the league is too much to go down..certainly Lofty's lot shouldn't have gone down whereas the bottom two were that bit further adrift.

id agree with 2 up 2 down, is there many inactive teams that need to be cut off?? Maybe one division of 16!!?? Looks like the sligo strong hold is swinging to a derry one now in terms of managers!

2 leagues with 2 up and 2 down is probably the best bet given the current set up
Gets my vote as well

A variety of generic Foot.ie answer styles to the above question.
NB. Team circumstances, and the attitudes of actual managers are not remotely reflected by the views imagined below. All typos are carefully chosen:
* I think relegation should be scrapped entirely, the natural order has come through, and we're getting 65,000 people per game
* Hah, I see that the league wants to change the rules now that Lofty's have got what's coming to them. My club got sh@t on from a height when we broke the rules spectacularly and everyone else has been much better treated since then. Impartiality? I think not!
* Sure, leave things the way they are, if there were problems, sure we would have seen it here.
* I don't care. This has nothing to do with the Starlets.
* Any chance of a women's league starting up?
* A women's league? I'll join only if they get to swap shirts!
* MODEDIT: This message has been deleted owing to the poster's sexualisation of the topic and general personal abuse.
* That mod does illegal things to sheep!
* Quality. Bye now Ruben:D
* I see Robbie Keane has moved to Tottenham again. Might be good for Ireland
* Could the mod move that last post please - it isn't that relevant to the topic
* I don't care what happens, we finished fourth!
* I read in the Star that Roddy Collins thinks that the league is rubbish, and that it was much better quality when he managed the Alberts.
* Should be a 16 team league, get rid of the rubbish teams without a tradition like Dundalk and the Babysitters.
* The junior league I play in operates with two up and three down, which generally had been working for the past four years. It didn't go so well this year though, for some reason.
* Lads, UCD were great this year, and we are probably the best side ever. Jaysus, I don't think any side will ever be as good as them.
* The last time I watched a game was when The Fags won everything. It hasn't been the same since. These days I go to a neighbours house to watch him play Chamionship Manager 09. It's much better.
* When is the Newstalk Primeria League meant to start again?
* What is the score with the "A" league lads? Is it starting properly this year?
* I think you'll find that of the various seasons, that -DFX's winning season was by far the most intriguing, three sides in contention right up to the death, possibly the closest relegation battle, and two very good cup finals. Statistically speaking, season six was the best.
* You're full of Sh!te.
* Lads, none of this will solve the problems of the foot.ie league. there is one solution, and one solutions only, and it will solve all the problems in one go. An All-forums league. If we can unite the YBIG and the Boards leagues with ours, all the problems will go away, as though someone came in and waved a magic wand.
* Is he serious?
* If the Provos lived way beyond their means and get away with it by not being relegated somehow, then how come we get relegated. It's not right. I demand that we be reinstated, and the Provos relegated. They should be winning the league with that side for gods sake.
* Yeah, Robbie's move could be good. I just cannot understand why no-one has seen how good Liam Lawrence is? How come they aren't clamouring for him too? I think Trapp will have to go if he doesn't sort this out
* This is a disgrace. The league is re-starting in a moth, and things aren't sorted out. Typical.
* The league is re-starting in a moth: Looks like the downsizing has really gone too far this time:D
* Lads, face it, the league is in Sheight. Three clubs went out of business last year. The champions, Alberts fuken disappeared - another might go this time. The whole thing is a big ball of sheight and there is no arguing the point.
* If you think it's badly run now, you would do well to remember how badly it was run when sligoman wasn't involved.
* Lads, I haven't had a chance to read anything in the thread before this as it is just too long, but I think that RObbie should play in the hole behind DOyler and LOng.
* Gobsh!te
* Waster
* To$$er
* Roddy Collins (Again)
* Roddy isn't that bad. No, I'm only messing.
* Roddy couldn't manage a mid afternoon snooze.
* Saw Loose Women on the other afternoon - if ever there was a reason for a mid afternoon snooze...
* RTÉ comedies are four times more dire than Loose Women, and they are on in Prime time:eek:
* I think that this thread has gone off topic, though I refuse to acknowledge that by simply saying this I continue to divert it further off topic.
