Don't want to start jumping the gun but I think I have a very good chance to at least challenge for the title this season. :)

Eight visible increases, one visible decrease. My defence will be much stronger next season but my midfield will be a bit weaker. 8 others with non visible increases, 1 with a non visible decrease. First division will be interesting.
11 visible increases including Haggander +2, so can't complain. He cost 1.1m..
Looks like it might be a three or four horse race..though Bluebeard probably still won't admit they've won the league :p :D

It will be a lot more interesting this year. Alberts haven't had a huge increase in skill level, Provos not as bad but still not hugely significant, Pants seem to come have come off quite badly (I think). Ourselves and the Drunks have had quite good CRs, as have the Forest although they have been hit by retirements. Can't forget about Loftys either. I think these seven will be a cut above the rest next season. I'd say the gap of 30 points from 1-7 will be reduced by a fair amount.
Or the 10 point gap between 2nd-3rd.
Top two still look the strongest, but UCD have the age advantage on ourselves and Alberts, I haven't looked at Pants yet. Cobh, Sligo and Finn Harps will have a fight on their hands. For our age, it was a good CR. Silverspjut, Di Napoli, Liljedahl, Maynooth and Davidsson weren't likely to go up because of age and Boyle was injured.
Everyone will have to hit the ground running.

I won't believe we've won the league until the first games of next season have been played - you forget that I follow the League of Ireland...

Wouldn't say we came off badly Dman in fairness. I suppose we lost on the swings what we gained on the roundabout.
Camoranesi down from 10 to 9
Aboyne down from 10 to 9 (surprised at that TBH)
Geladaris down from 8 to 7
Sjolund up from 5 to 6
Kristofferson up from 7 to 8
Cansund up from 7 to 8
Stapleton up from 9 to 10
Thilderkvist up from 6 to 7
I won't believe we've won the league until the first games of next season have been played - you forget that I follow the League of Ireland...
So who wants the asterisk then?
1. Flynny Alberts* - yes they did indeed win the league again.
2. Provisional SRFC* - yes, they actually got within a point!
or 7. Sligo Rovers* - No, you're not seeing things, they did stay up. ;)

Ahh, that is a relief - the asterisk to me is the sign of a league that is run as I best understand it...
Note to self: Don't play the Alberts in a friendly with shockingly low form players.
0-6

Anyone any objections to same format for next season(ie. 2 games a week and no cup, 3up and 3 down)? If so, suggest an alternative and see what people think.
I don't mind either way.

Almost tradition at this stage that I am proposing one game a week and a cup.:)
I would support one league game a week and two cups. I would argue that a 10 team league is too big for one game a week and would take too long to finish, so would shorten it.
We must defend our last remaining title.:)

Any chance of signing up for the new league season lads?No problem. You can take over any of:
Arrow Harps
Depor Cali Bohs
Mullaney Bros FC
Or start with a new team. If you're taking over one of the above then let me know in advance so I can sack their manager.

Voting...
It might be an idea to open up a thread on the xpert forum to let people vote there too in case they don't look at this thread very often?
Shorten it to what?
That's the hard thing. A 10 team league would last 18 weeks - 4.5 months which is very long and very open to form fluctuations.
But shortening it by taking out the inactive teams might mean that there's no room for last season's top three to be promoted if divided equally between the divisions.
Thread on the Xpert forum up and running.

Jaysus, they're in rag order! I'd rather start afresh with a new team, but I already have a team in the league we have on the Drogs mb so I'm not sure if I'm allowed another one?

If you get your xpert rating to 95 you would be allowed an additional private league team. Here's the bit from the rules about xpert rating:
The Xpert rating
The Xpert rating is a measure of how active and serious you are as a manager. If you place the mouse pointer over the Xpert rating (the horizontal bar) you will see your exact rating.
The Xpert rating is based on:
1) You start with 25 points.
2) Number of days on which you have logged on during the last 3 months (maximum 75 points)
3) Number of days on which you have issued press statements of more than 150 characters in the Xpert leagues during the last 2 months. Each day is worth 1,5 points. (maximum 30 points)
4) The number of penalty points you have been given.
Penalty points are given in the following situations:
1) A press statement that is deleted in the Xpert leagues by the league admin or a moderator. Gives -5.
2) If you leave a league (non Xpert league), you get between -6 and -24 points depending on whether you have played for a whole season or pull out during a season or before a season has started. You will get penalty points whether you resign or the administrator sacks you.
3) In addition we in the X11 team can give penalty points if a user misbehaves or breaks any rules. Between -5 and -50 points.
You keep penalty points for 3 months.
It's not that difficult to get your rating to 95. Mine is always higher than that and I don't usually bother with press releases.
Alternatively you could become a VIP which gives you full team quota (3 months €8, 6 months €14, 12 months €24).

I had this in my inbox today;
Following Wexford Boys's last match, Police have unearthed irregular betting patterns on the result of the game. Several playing staff at the club have been found guilty of betting on the match and as a result, the club have been fined 1 060 000 econ.
Quite good timing I think! :)

yeah well i personally dont think anyone should take over flynnys, should just leave it, would be a very unfair advantage for someone to take over a team that good
it will also make the league very competitive next year if they are gone, with a number of teams then in with a good shout of winning
I think it would be a shame if a team like that was left go to waste. I do think, however, that someone just joining that league should automatically get a team like. Ideally somebody already in the league would apply for it (I'm sure somebody must want a team that good) and just give it to the highest ranked manager that applies. But if nobody applies I think just let a newcomer have them if they want.

Just taking the reins at Depor - name change in the next couple of days due - have to fathom one first. 16 players only and we're rubbish.
I notice Alberts managed to defeat Pants with the last team I selected. All change from now. First up, a hammering against UCD, then a walloping at the Empress - the novelty being that I'll be on the receiving end.

Decisions need to be made soon or else pre-season will keep dragging. The 1 league game and cups seems to have won the vote but if a 10 team league will take too long then what will we do? Three divisions? I wouldn't be too fond of that idea tbh. Also, does nobody actually want Flynnys?

It is possible to have a two series First Division, with say three or four going up (play off between 2nd in both to go up). Prolly only time to have one cup though.
I'm astonished that nobody at all wants Flynnys. It would be a pity to see the one of only two clubs never to have been relegated go out of business altogether. Them and the Provos top the all-time performance table. It would be a shame. I'd nearly be tempted to go back rather than see them go bust...

Surprised none of the 1st Div managers want it. I've been with Pants too long to be dropping it, and I'd imagine thats the case for all the long serving managers in the league.

As long as this restructuring doesn't mess about with the chances of promotion.. I'm sure there is a virtual Maxi out there somewhere. ;)

I've been sorely tempted, but will be staying put..
Maybe another VIP can step in and break the team up if necessary to keep the likes of Tengvall, Konda, Shannon, Killorglin and Carrick in the league at least, but also could someone go back there and stay with them until the new season is created, then there's another season to find someone/someone to be tempted..
Breaking the team at knock-down prices might be a bit of an unfair economy though. Also, as The Bearded One said, there's only us and them left all-time at the top.

So it looks like the only feasible option is to go with the 2 divisions, 2 games a week same as last season?
Also, I'd be against the idea of selling off Flynnys players, it wouldn't be fair.
In the same vote as everybody else with regards to Flynnys.
Would love to see cup games making a come back but agree with you sligoman tis thde only feasible option maybe next season
If the FD teams are aware that making it 1 game a week from next season may mean they finishing top might not mean promotion this season, then that's what we can go with. It's not fair springing it on the top three last season now.
