To be fair to Lampard, he did start with Derby. He was offered the Chelsea job far too early in his managerial career, and quite possibly still hasn't recovered from it. He's doing ok with Coventry this season, about the same as he was with Derby.
Yeah Tets, but Robbie wasnt even given the opportunity of a Championship club when he was clearly desperate to get into management. Hes taken a different path to Damien Duff but I admire them both for finding different ways to get involved in management, and its brilliant that both have been successful to this point.

True, but he did coach at Middlesbrough for a while. We don't know that he was looking to take over a Championship club, just that he took the Maccabi job. Arguably Maccabi would be bigger than most Championship sides, plus were able to offer European competition.

Fair point, but I dont even remember a single rumor linking him with any Championship club ever, the only rumor I can remember is that he was linked with taking over at LA Galaxy very briefly. After he did well with Maccabi, especially on the European run you would have thought that there might be a decent opportunity available in England but instead he had to wait until well after the season started to get the job in Hungary. Hopefully if things continue to go well for him bigger a better things will come his way

I clearly at the start of my post focussed on the coaching aspect and not the other stuff. and your reply focusses just on that, and worse drags Ebosele into it. Why? Why do that? Why do you appear to be taking my comments personally?
I clearly stated: "I was just making the point that others were complaining about etc etc etc"
Note my use of "others".
As for Ebosele, my point concerned other posters complaining about RK taking employment in "authoritarian" countries, whilst remaining silent when FE does so in Turkey.
In other words, other peoples' double standards.
One game left in the Hungarian campaign for Robbie. 3 points between Ferencvaros and Puskas Academia so looks like another title for Robbie is likely incoming. However, if PA win and Ferencvaros lose, then the standings look to be determined based on games won before goal difference comes into play which would leave PA top. Robbie is facing 4th place ETO Gyor who are on a run of form, with PA facing 6th place Diosgyor whose season is done. Will be one to watch on Saturday.

He won the Hungarian league today, and will be in the Champions League next season if he sticks around.

No better time for Spurs to make a change, you could argue. Can't screw up the Champions League chance.
I don't think Keane would be close to it though.

Despite winning the Europa league, it is a big gamble to give Postocglou another season ~ Obviously after the great start he had at Spurs, the other, teams / managers, worked out how to take his system apart ~ He really has to convince the powers that be at Spurs, that he is capable of playing different systems and doing it successfully !
Also the not practising set-pieces thing, was kinda mad in this day and age ( maybe always ) First you have to try to use every and any possible advantage, and ya might be better to be keeping footballers busy at working on set-piece routines, than having footballers doing a lot of the daft stuff that some footballers get up to ~ ~ Keep em busy and out of temptation !

That's a strange one I'd have thought. More money, status, visibility, etc. Reasonably stable club with an eye on Premier promotion. What's not to like?

I think it's a smart move. He has a fair shot of getting to the champions League and showing his tactical prowess against some of the best.
Would have a good shot at a PL side then next year or replacing whoever gets sacked in January. Id argue it'd be better for him to come for the last couple of months of season so that he has a bit of a cushion to bed into the league.
A lot of managers go to the championship and never really get out of it so yeah, could be a smart one.

Might be a good one to swerve. They gave Carrick a three year deal less than a year ago, he dropped two league places & five points from last season. Last season they finished four points outside the play offs, the previous season, the eighth place finish, they were also four points outside the playoffs.
One was a new three year deal. The other, a sacking. Granted the five fewer points were five costly ones but over forty six games, they've sacked a guy who was one win & two draws short. That doesn't ring of sticking with your new three year deal young manager, does it ?
Since 2017 they've sacked Monk / Pulis / Woodgate / Warnock / Wilder & now Carrick. None were given a third season, most were given one & Robbie was there with Woodgate as a coach so he will know the chairman & his notions of where Middlesbrough belong.
The varying managerial styles of the sacked ones don't suggest an over arching strategy or club philosophy either.
I think he feels he can do better in time & really live the dream, and fair play to him.

Id look at as a positive that hes at least now starting to get a bit of chatter in English management circles. Id agree that Boro doesn't seem like a great job, but they are a big club and him getting linked there is a sign that he might be finally getting a bit of credit for how well he has done in his management career so far
