based on what lad? how many times have you watch kuyt play ? all im saying is you cannot not judge any player from how they played in the world cup. in my opinion kuyt would be more effective than torres in the premiership, but sure its all just guessing and presuming anyway!

I've only seen Kuyt play a couple of times before the World Cup, both times he didn't score but it was evident that he worked hard for the team. Torres is technically better IMO although I have only seen him on a handful of occasions too.
All I'm saying is that based on World Cup showings, I'd prefer Torres. Yes I know it's not the complete book but it was a simple explanatary statement...

Well we weren't too hot last night, although you could see that most of the players were not fully fit. Except Sissoko who was everywhere again. Thought Pennant played very well and his link up play with Finnan looks promising to say the least. His crossing was top notch, but again Crouch's headers were too weak to trouble the 'keeper. That's why Benitez is probably after Kuyt more than anything else. Bellamy played well but I thought he drifted out wide/dropped deep too much. Gonzalez looked sharp, good finish but what was better was his run into the box for the goal. We look like we have some great options on the flanks now. Early days yet though!
Total opposite...these know how to play and will be no fools - they were in the Champions League before, are experienced and don't seem to bothered by playing on neutral ground if necessary.
Very difficult draw, imo.
Ditto for the second leg. If they go 1-0 up, Liverpool are in big big trouble..

I expect Liverpool to win away by which time they'll have a few more games under their belt. They were sluggish at times but should be sharper come the 2nd leg. The Israeli's were good on the counter but it'll be different over there as they will be expected to attack more. They won't sit as deep so I expect Liverpool to expose them at the back a bit more with Gonzalez, Pennant and Bellamy's pace causing them major problems.

We looked good today but can't really read too much in to the Community Shield. Good performance though, great pace to the side now which is really exciting. Sissoko was superb again. The man is just a machine. Thought Agger had a good game, looks like a sound defender. Benitez made the right subs at the right times again and it made the difference in the end. Chelski looked unfit and subdued and the turn out from their fans was a disgrace. Thought Ballack was a load of bo||ocks.....

everton off to a good start AJ off the mark and they hit the woodwork twice ,add in a dodgy peno to finish off the game before stubbs knocked in a og in the last min .good first half but a poor second half display .
Glad to see our manager being honest saying it was nt a peno and even if the defender had of hand balled it it should nt have been given ...when you compare it to rafas comments after the game when Gerrard clearly dived to win a peno yet again to salvage a point from sh. utd !! he is worse than ronaldo .

When Sheffield United were last promoted in 1990, their first game of the new season was against us at home. We won 3-1 then, even though their keeper was sent off early on, in the days without reserve gks.
Looking forward to Warnock's mouth this season. He's a character and is far better to listen to, than the bland PC nonsense that most bosses in the league spout every week. :)

Their was clearly no contact between the Sheffield United player and Gerrard. Gerrard messed his chance up so decided to fall and win a penalty instead.
Benitez's comments afterwards showed he clearly knew it. All hesitant and saying that "we can't talk about the penalty, if we're to talk about the penalty then we'd have to talk about every single foul today"
Such ****e, if he was sure it was a penalty, he'd have said it!
By the way, Man Utd are winning 4-0 after 20 minutes;).

gerrard didnt dive the ref cocked it up.im a liverpool fan and i agree there was no contact.gerrard avoided a wild tackle stumbled and fell.i even cursed him out of it at the time for not scoring.referees would want to be told that this isnt rugby and advantage doesnt last for minuted:confused:
i think you ll find he did , the defender didnt touch him he took his shot messed it up then dived on the ground screaming for a peno !! there was no advantage as there was no foul

I think if he had dived he'd have hit the ground straight away instead of trying to continue his run.
I think Gerrard expected to get clattered (it's too hard for anyone to say that he definately did/didn't make contact) and as such tried to adjust his run to avoid the clatter. This is what made him lose his balance IMO, he was falling as soon as he got away from the challenge and didn't deliberately go down.

He fell over because he shot with his left foot while his right foot was still in the air.
You're spot on there Ledge.
Neil Warnock has every right to be angry.

what a stupid reply , same old line out again for this year anytime a liverpool fan knows he is wrong but wont admit it he resorts to the same old boring "bitter" line ( that he still doesnt even understand !! you shouldnt just repeat stuff you heard the older boys saying :p ).

Pot, kettle, black.
This coming from a fan of a club who only won their own league match, by getting a penalty of their own, from a headed clearance. :D At least Gerrard's pen is debatable, what's your excuse??

The above responce is probably a more accurate and fair interpretation. He was stumbling even as he tried to get his shot away but you mightn't see that through the thick blue smoke of bitterness :D

there was no excuses thats my point !!!!! do i have to explain the difference, ok here goes
1 : no everton player cheated to win that peno, unlike Gerrard
2: After the game the everton manager came out and said it was nt a peno that the ball clearly struck the defenders head and that even if it had hit his hand it shouldnt have been given because he was making a fair effort to get back and block the cross .
contrast that to rafas mumblings about gerrard got a slight touch bla bla bla .... Gerrard cheated end of story .
3. Everton where allready winning the game it made no difference to the final outcome if everton hadnt have got the peno the game wouldnt have followed the same patern the deflected shot wouldnt have happened ....but thats a different debate , where as liverpool where loosing !!.
but hey dont let any facts get in the way of ye're "points" as normal
you have lost this arguement so lets hear it same as allways " stop talking about liverpool ye bitters " ye havent used that one before

you must have , it was when he stepped past the defender who made no contact then took his shot and when he saw it was nt going in trew himself on the ground and started screaming at the ref for a peno , also in the last england friendly before the WC he dived to win a peno then aswell , its becoming a habit.
not that ye armchair liverpool fans care about playing with a bit of honesty who cares how much they cheat as long as when you check the results on teletext they have nt lost .

anto, you should be a comedian. I actually know a guy whose brother is a well known one, maybe I could get you a gig? :p
Secondly, like Roadend I have my doubts about your regular attendance at Woodison Park. I mean after all, I could boast that I have a season ticket for Anfield and go every second week but who can prove it? I go to Anfield alright, but only now and again as running a business and having a life take up a lot of my time. I'll tell you what, why don't you scan your match ticket/stub (I'm presuming Everton still use this system and are not as technologically advanced as Liverpool) and post a link to it on a weekly basis just to humour us.....anyone want to second that? :D
Gerrard was clipped and was put off balance by a lunge that failed to get anywhere near the ball but right in Gerrard's way. As a result he lost a clear scoring chance as the ball got stuck under his feet as he tried to keep his balance. That is a penalty. Now what Gerrard could have done is dive over the defenders leg like w@nkers such as Ronaldo, Robben would do and con the referee. That would be cheating. But he didn't, he tried to stay on his feet and was rewarded for his honesty. Speaking of players staying on their feet, Andy 'the feather' Johnson.............

Another good result for the toffees last night 1-1 away from home v blackburn dispite the ref who should have given everton a peno and also sent off Brad F. for pulling back mcfadden when he had an open goal , still i reckon that cahill scoring the rebound got him off the hook .AJ should have had a peno as well when he was taken out of it by the defender who made no attempt to play the ball ( as he was looking straight at AJ elbowed him in the head and pushed him to the ground making plenty of contact !! key point !!) even mark huges , alan hansen plus that other gimp on MOTD said it was a stone wall peno .
still at least we were able to score from open play to secure the draw
