The better team won in the end and Moyes was right, the ref was over fussy. The Stubbs-Kewell bookings being a point in case.
the ref was a joke there was something like 40 free kicks , i know the derby's are hard games but rarely do they spill out of controll ala utd arsenal . but the game was so start stop id be furious if id spent money to go to watch it which ever side i supported .the ref ruined what could have been a decend derby game .

well thats that game out of the way , it was going to be tough with out artetta on the pitch and kilbane starting ( it s like starting with 10 men ), then liverpools tactics of kick everton off the pitch coupled with hoof long balls at crouch all day plus the cheating to try to get everton players booked and sent off worked a treat ( and liverpool fans slag chelsea about being cheats and playing long balls FFS  )
gerrards tackle should have been a straight red same with alonso 's one when he went in with his studs up on neville . the first goal was clearly out of play from the corner allthough nevilles header was a joke . wright was totally at fault for the second made an easy chance into a simple chance by rushing out .
everton let themselves down the way they have being playing lately they should have passed them off the pitch .
the VDM red card was a joke ,again liverpool players hassling the ref and looking for a red card for a nothing clash between 2 players going for a header , there was a much worse one in the bolton game yesterday not even a free kick .
I love it :D the perfect anyalysis of the game !!!
what a load of (blue)scheite LOL

I am not going to rise to that terrible terrible post, but I would like to add that the grass was the wrong type of colour green so how could anyone expect Everton and their far superior players to win..?
I mean to break 10 men down and pass them off the pitch with substitutes like Big Dunc's silky skills, you can't have the colour of the grass go against you as well...
So many excuses made up - the way you go on about the game being over with like you have bigger fish to fry is delusional beyond usual Everton levels.
Of course you can pass through Liverpool with the likes of Ferguson, Weir, Naysmith, Hibbert and Stubbs at the heart of the Brazilian football that Everton love...whereas the likes of cheap imports such as Alonso, Kewell, Garcia, Finnan, Riise just resort to the high hoof. Of course you'd think Everton would be perfectly suited to defending against the high hoof. Even moreso, we still haven't beaten Everton 11 against 11 under Benitez so really none of the three victories out of four can really be regarded as wins.
The perfect quoite I heard from an Everton fan second hand is thus: "The Gerrard red card was terrible news for us - we had to change our gameplan"
And changing the gameplan of sitting back and sneaking it 0-1 was a bit too far for the Everton side yesterday. Even Moyes admitted that after the red card he was happy to ge this players in at half time at 0-0 because it was their "worst period" of the match...they couldn't cope with trying to be defensive and rough and having to attack at 10 men.
Oh and as for the cards issue, I think 8 yellows and 1 red compared to three yellows and one red is a bit too much of a gap to say that Liverpool kicked anything that moved and Everton were just the innocent victim of the referee.....9 cards to four - over double the amount of cards, but Everton were hard done by of course...
Oh well, go back to 'sneaking a European spot' - Beware though of Barcelona robbing all your silky stars - they need a left back and Naysmith surely fits the bill, Stubbs would be a perfect foil for Puyol and who needs Henry for millions when you can have big Dunc.
But please leave us hoofing and cheating teams to buy cheap imports and sell them a few months later (having not played) and go about finishing well above you.
this is very typical , liverpool hoof long balls all day at crouch tthen you slag duncs "silky skill"
i dont know where your going comparing dunc naysmith etc to barca players and henry , your talking about 3 second choice defenders 2 of which are over 34 , and a striker playing at 50 % fitness .
at least your starting to admitt ye are a long ball team there is some hope for you .

A longball team that are the current European Champions, and after disposing of a below average Everton side, they took their tally to 18 goals in 4 games. I'm amazed Wimbledon aren't still a premier league outfit.

It was sarcasm mate. Have another look and see can you spot it.
You really are clutching at straws anto trying to play down the significance of the defeat for Everton. Playing against 10 men for just under an hour and you still couldn't compete. Liverpool, who are often labelled a 'one man team', played without that 'one man' and still managed to dominate against a team who have played 13 games less so far this season.
Your the first person to attempt to claim that Alonso's corner that led to Neville's og was out of play. Brilliant anto! Keep trying to deflect attention away from your own inadequacies and all will fall into place sooner rather than later:rolleyes:

You're spot on as usual Anto. Arteta was a major loss on the day but I think it was just one of those days where nothing really went right. The corner clearly went over the line that led to Neville's horrific own goal. I don't know what Wright was thinking for the second. It must be pointed out that both of those goals came at crucial stages of the game (just before and after half time) and that really knocked the stuffing out of the toffees. Gerard's tackle was a disgrace. The ref of course felt obliged to send off VDM and get the anfield crowd off his back. He was only waiting for his chance to make it ten against ten and make his job easier. A meticulous pr!ck.

the bluescheite will clutch too any excuse they can for their pathetic performance. They forget to mention samis wrongly disallowed goal, Alonso struck the bar with a free-kick, Stubbs made a goal-saving challenge on Garcia and Kewell drew a good save from Wright.
It should have been another 5 goals last weekend!!!

ive admitted it was a rubbish performance we should have played that liverpool team off the pitch and they didnt
Thats class , i forgot to mention a defender making a challenge or a keeper making a save !!! well i guess it would have been 5 or 6 if they keeper or defenders didnt keep getting in the way ....what are they thinking of oh those pesky defenders :D
it wasnt me that said the ball was out of play it was proven on skysports afterwards .
simple facts it was a own goal just before half time knocked the stuffing out of everton the second ( in which crouch was offside from the LONG BALL he flicked on ) killed them off . even then they fought there way back into it untill the ref sent off a player for a foul no worse than garcia's elbow on kilbane. due to liverpool players putting pressure on the ref looking for the red cards .

No you shouldn't have, 11 grafters will not play anyone but the pl dross off the park, as Everton had done up until Saturday. Its amazing what a couple of wins will do to people's imaginations. This season, Everton against Liverpool, 2 played 2 lost 2 for 6 against. The woodentops will grasp at anything these days.

name one thats better when you consider his stock v the rest , as mentioned henry and shevchenko are both pushing on now , id prefere rooney than either of those 2 anyway . henry only started playing really well 5 years ago before that and even when he arrived at highbury first he wasnt great ,rooney at 16 was an outstanding player at 20 he is one of the top in the world when he is 23 or 24 + he ll be unstoppable
the only player id buy before rooney would be ronaldino but he isnt europeen so he doesnt count

The thread had slipped a page so I thought I'd get it up to where it belongs again.;)
On a more sombre note, I'd like to mention that today is the 17th anniversary of one of football's greatest tragedies at Hillsborough. 96 innocent fans left home on a sweltering afternoon to see what they hoped would be a victory for Liverpool over Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi-final. Those 96 people never returned home.
My prayers are with those 96 fans and their families on this day and let's hope justice will eventually prevail.

Back to slagging Everton. Anto, where are all these fantastic young players you were harping on about? I remember saying to you that you can't count on youngsters as a lot of them fail to make it when the chips are down, while others get injured and never get back to their schoolboy promise/ability. There was one or two on the verge of first team/squad, while a few more others were younger. What of the former two, where are these brilliant players.
anthony Gerrard was let go due to a"personal problem" .peter clarke was also left go not sure why as he was quite talented
Hopkins is in the reserve team playing tonight .
JP Kissock (liverpool young sports personality of the year) has just turn 16 and can now be signed up to play in the prem league , he is a resserve team regular playing tonight .
ian turner and victor anichbe have all gotten first team football this term .
bjarni Vidarsson is a ressie regular and now icelandic international aswell .
scott Phelan made his england under 18 debut this week scoring the winner in a 2-1 win after only 11 mins on the pitch .
Lee molyneux is progressing well at left back ,and Mark huges is still captaining the side .
with the expected signing of scot spencer the 16 year old wonder kid from oldam for 1/4 mill this week we have a very good bunch of under 18's . of which turner ,Vidarsson, Anichbe,Kissock should start appearing in the first team squad next year . if 5 or 6 from moyes's youth programe come through it will do very nicely indeed .

I never wanted him to be our new coach, because he didn't have a long and successful track record. Sure, he coached a few Spanish teams before, and happened to be coach of Valencia, when Real Madrid threw away two league titles. He won the UEFA Cup, but er... so did a certain G. Houllier, and look what happened to him. He sold our main striker, Owen before the start of the season, then said he had enough forwards in the squad. 3 months later, we only had 1 proven striker, so when he bought another one in January, he wouldn't play the pair of them in the League Cup Final. What happened??? We lost.
Another mistake he made is flooding the squad with Spaniards. Generally, Spanish players playing in England never settle. The reverse is also true. The cultures in Britain, and Spain are so different, both socially, and football-wise, added to the fact that many of the players can't speak the language, means they struggle to fit-in. Playing one man upfront in games, is not going to get us into a derisory 4th place, to try and qualify for the Champions League next season.
This may be Beni's honeymoon season, and in fairness, he has had some awful luck with injuries, but half of the team every week is of players that he signed, and a lot of the problems at the club at the moment, are of his own making. 4th place should not be a target for this club. No disrespect to the neighbours, but we should not be having to settle for that every season, with the resources we have. The fans don't care about finishing 4th, (GH got sacked after finishing 4th last season), only the board do.

how many matches since beattie scored?
I've been up in Finn Park, so maybe someone could fill me in on updates on these:
How many minutes since any Everton player scored before McFadden yesterday? Also any Everton substitute scored at all this season yet?
I asked for improvements in results.
The improvements in results were always going to be there, just you refused to see it. You'd have preferred to have the manager sacked, the board sacked, Crouch sold, Owen bought back for double the cost, Kewell sold, Garcia sold than wait for the inevitable results to come. We've been talking about the improvements all year, you can only/want to only see it now that Liverpool are coasting into third.
As I've said before, it's easy to see the likes of Zidane being a good player when he produces the results, the real trick is to see it before he becomes a big star. That's where it requires an understanding of football, rather than statistics.. ;)
