2. We're you ready to come on here and criticise the team before they came back to win the game?

Well, if you weren't so cocky when it was 1-3, I wouldn't have to laugh at you. We are the comeback kings. Just ask Luton, Olympiakos, AC Milan,.........

*wonders how mypost reacted at half time in each of those games - particularly Olympiakos when we hadn't comeback before*;)

*perhaps more accurately wonders how much it cost mypost to sharpen his knives at the exact same time*;)

during liverpool versus everton alonso produced a sublime piece of play on the edge of his own box....the ball broke to him, he clipped it over the head of the everton player, ran around him and volleyed a pass down the wing setting up an attack....awesome...hopefully i'll get to see it again sometime...

of course in a stroll of a match like that he had plenty of time to do it :D

alonso for me is the best passer around.

ps while beckham has an amazing right foot he simply hasnt got a left foot.

ps while beckham has an amazing right foot he simply hasnt got a left foot.Beckham is also not a better passer with his right foot either......Neither is zindane, ronaldo, ronaldihno , lampard (i mean has he ever hit even a 30 yard pass never mind a 60 yard one)etc etc....Alsono is unique is his range of passes with both feet

he controlls a ball !! well done a professional footballer controlling a ball what next .

he rounds a keeper thats at the half way line and as we all know keepers are known for there quick feet and tackling ability

kicks the ball straight into an open goal , how did he manage that .

beckams was nearly as far and he had to chip a keeper , rooney hit a volley straight into the top corner from the half way line they were quality alonso's was nt .

take your ball and go home so.

"rooney hit a volley straight into the top corner from the half way line"

all of a sudden hes moved on two steps now.

ps i scored from a dead ball kick out down longpavement so i must be better than alonso and rooney.

all im saying is alonso's goal was nt awsome as its being described as on here it was good but not awsome . if fact if you did score that goal then it was better than alonso's since it went further and probibly beat a keeper aswell rather than it being an open goal that you kick the ball straight into .

Also would anyone disagree that Finnan is the best right back in the premiership? In my opinion he has been the best for the last year(ok im a bit biased) :)......he really is a quality full back.............

Rafael Benitez today praised the consistency of Steve Finnan and outlined his importance to the team.
Right-back Finnan was his usual impeccable self in Saturday's 1-0 win over Tottenham and Benitez believes the arrival of Jan Kromkamp will ensure the Irish international gets even better.

"Finnan is a player who will always play at a consistent level," Benitez says.

"He will be seven, eight, nine or even ten out of ten every week. This is really important for the team. Some players find a good level for individual games, but don't do the same every week. Finnan does it for a whole season.

"The added competitiveness of Jan Kromkamp will also be good for him and the team and help him maintain his current level."

Liverpool score 5 in a game, and guess what?? Beanpole doesn't score. Normal service has resumed.

It's because of Benitez's pre-season spending, and early season tactics, that sees us where we are domestically. As it stands, 2nd place in the league is assured, but it's not enough. What we are really crying out for, is not a centre-back (for a defence that have conceded only
11 goals  ) but an Henry, an Owen, a Keane, even a Fowler, i.e. a regular goalscorer. I can't remember the last time we had none. Signing a forward for a lot of money who can only score a measly 3 goals in 6 months is not a replacement, but a stand-in. We need to buy a proven goalscorer to take us to the next level, i.e. challenge, and then win the title. Surely there must be at least one of them available.

But wait a minute... the transfer window is here, so who have our overworked scouts been busy recommending we sign? Two untried, unproven, who-the-hell-are you?? nobodies from Denmark and Holland. Enough said.

Let me quote you earlier in the season......again when your insight to liverpool football club was a bad as it is now.....

It shows how far we have fallen domestically, that we're happy with getting 0-0 draws at home. Wonder who's fault that is?

I remind you that at Liverpool, it's not the taking part that counts, it's the winning.Eh 11 wins and 1 draw in last 12 and STILL you whinge and embarrass yourself

Reaching 4th place is not a goal at this club, yet even that looks kilometres away at the moment.we warned you then you were wrong......

Benitez may have won the "Best coach in Europe" award, but that was based on a select few games. However, he's about as effective in the league, as a snowboard in the Sahara in mid-summer. The outlook for us domestically, is bleak.

Benitez is either unable and/or unwilling to compete domestically

Beni, why don't you admit, that like most Spaniards, you simply can't hack it in English football??

My Expectation? To compete for the title, failing that to finish in the top 3
then you have the f**king cheek to ignore all your previous baseless comments and come out with this gem......

As it stands, 2nd place in the league is assured but it's not enough

I'll stop "whinging", when the coach plays the right tactics, picks the right players, we win games, and are competitive, which is not the case at the moment.Pah! as i have just shown you will NEVER stop whinging even when 2nd "is assured" and Top 3 finish was one of your "expectations for this season!

I know of other posters like you on other liverpool sites who like to play devil advocate and cause heated debate but your attempts are just laughable! You contradict yourself all the bloody time. As you say your entitled to your view but so are we.......thats why we laugh at yours!!!:D .......

Never a more true word spoken from Rafa. Steve Finnan is without doubt the most accomplished full back in Premership at the moment, and the added competition of Kromkamp keeping him on his toes will only serve him well. What stands out with him is not only his defensive abilities but also his ability to provide quality crosses with either left or right foot. There aren't many others who have that in their game and I hope he is recognised by his fellow pros, in the end of season awards, for his outstanding displays.

Kingdom
19/01/2006, 2:07 PM
I would imagine both Given and Finnan will be in the Premiership team of the year at the current rate.
Steve Finnan has been excellent and for Kromkamp's sake I hope he's a decent centre half as well , cause Finnan's place is nailed down at this stage.

Incidently has anyone seen the 3 choices available to the Reds for the new Adidas jersey./ Things of beauty they are.

What are the chances mypost will just *conveniently skip* over that post on grounds of something like "vitriolic abuse" though?

Anyway for the mentally capable Liverpool posters here I'm not sure about Kromkamp and where he fits into the team...Benitez says right back, but no need for him really there more than just cover for an odd few games and Centre back the same. He doesn't look convincing as right midfielder either...so where does he fit..?

With regards to Kromkamp lets give him a chance to see what he can do. Josemi was poor cover for Finnan anyway and kromkamp is a straight swap deal so i presume he will act as cover and as rest now and again for stevie too.

19/01/2006, 3:38 PM
I think Kromkamp has been signed purely to provide quality cover for Finnan. To stand any chance of catching Chelsea Liverpool need to have top class replacements for every position. This is also important when you are progressing to the later stages of the CL:) . Just another indication of the positive direction of the team under Rafa.
