Fair dues to Rovers for that. Very sensible.

It means they tried to hawk the rights around Europe and couldn't

Gesture me balls...

Thats what i already said. No one outside of Denmark cared for it, and rte woudln't pay anymore.

Who cares why this has come to pass. It's no skin off Rovers' nose whether this goes on RTÉ Player Intl or not. The fact is they have allowed it and that has to be applauded.

Forgive our naïvety. :)

Anyway, best of luck to Rovers this evening. I could even tolerate Chris Turner scoring a winner.

Is that your latest "light-hearted jab at" or conspiracy theory?

It means what it says.

If its no skin off their nose, then why have they to be applauded?

As ever, its the ease at which people eat the spin that annoys me

Not really very sensible, but I wouldn't have thought they got any extra money directly off rte but off the carrier, obviouslly bar denmark no one else wanted to show it worldwide and RTE just wouldn't pay extra....

ANyway fair play. Thats good be nice to see it on a proper stream.

Came back to where spudliuka?! ;) I thought kilkenny was only available OUTSIDE Ireland.

You'd think so, but I've only seen it on tap here - Russia!

No it doesn't.

For those unclear like Dodge as to what it means..it means Rovers have cleared RTÉ to show worldwide to Hoops coverage that was hours ago only available in Ireland. Be that in Norway, England, Canada, Marino or other foreign lands.

Dodge
02/08/2011, 5:33 PM
Yes, because they tried to sell these rights and couldn't

Regardless, enjoy the game

Hope Hoops do a number on Cop. Despite Mon being the most miserable man north and south of border, and McCabe and Turner leaving us high and dry, nevertheless, for tonight I'll rooting for the Tallaght bhoys.

Would they do the same if they qualified for the group stage? Would they ****!

Yes there one more round in each the cl and el.

Loser in cl (might be just champions) tonight go into next round of el.

Which means me and my motley crew will be enjoying RTE commentary instead of some Dane who sounds like the chef in the Muppet Show! Lovely! My long suffering other half came back from holiday in Ireland this morning and brought with her a can of Kilkenny, though I think there are a few bottles of local cider which might do the trick better! Fingers crossed tonight!
I'm on Slavyutich tonight. Hope RTE's website doesn't go tits up.

So if they get through tonight, Rovers will be hoping to draw the likes of Arsenal? Surely they'd move the match to Aviva Stadium if that happened right?

Nope they play the other domestic winners of others that have come through the qualifying rounds.

Great backdrop behind brady...

Pitch looks great tonight, the whole place does. Lets just hope its not a hammering.

I've the gang here, we've hooked up the laptop to the tv and are ready for the off. Our little boy is still time zoned out and is awake, so it's quiet for the moment. Great odds at 17/2 for Rovers to make the next round!

I've a Kozel (black) that is nicely chilled and a local (Mospivo) freezing for the 2nd half. I hope your service is good, I've had to restart our modem twice....here's hoping!

No, Rovers can't draw Arsenal. The play-off round is split into two sections: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011%E2%80%9312_UEFA_Champions_League#Play-off_round

If it not already been stated in this thread then someone else can confirm, but I think this might be the last round can be staged in tallaght. Either that or it's not suitable for group games.

In terms of fixtures might want to lose tonight get some scottish team in the next round. The wet dream nature of this possible fixture might see calls for it be played in croker

I love to see everyones posts on here about dreams of qualifying for CL group stages... games against Arsenal, etc! Thats what its all about! - But don't forget, they're 1 - 0 down at half time against far superior opposition! They have a SERIOUS amount to do!...

Anyways I'm tuning in from a library in a small town in NY... If shams score I'd go ballistic and be thrown out! haha

Shamrock Rovers are going too hard too soon. Copenhagen will hammer them in the second half when they run out of gas.

Does anyone think rovers are playing a bit too far up when off the ball?

BonnieShels
02/08/2011, 7:01 PM
They need a goal. So they're gonna have to do everything to get one. So far they are going at it with the right attitude. If they do it right you can see Copenhagen losing their heads.

Dan Murray has been lucky a couple of times though.
