Always like to see the LOI sides do well in Europe, hopefully Pats will improve the co-eff tonight and then we beat them on Sunday!

Jesus, that almost deafened me. The IBV keeper sounds like a bit of a Massimo Taibi.

Not LOI but Glentoran 1 up at home to Renova, Glens 2-1 down from first leg so going through on away goals at the moment.

So long as Irish clubs stick to the club model from the motherland, we'll suffer. There are ways to improve it though I can't see any club looking further than the end of the season to try it. In saying that, come on Pats, another run would be great, and ye'll love Kazakhstan!

Need to keep exploiting their keeper. Mahon picked him out before the 1st leg as being their weak link

Anyone any ideas how good this Kazakhstan team are? Have Pat's any realistic chance if they do get that far?

We knocked out a Russian team witha worse side than what we have now. So its definitely do-able

The 2 Kazakh teams were the 14th and 15th lowest seeds in the 1st round and beat Serb and Polish opposition. Pat's opponents are 4th in the league, 4 points off top with 19 games played.

Slovenian and Polish
Good start for Pats hopefully they can get a 3rd and finish it off. Looking up a bit on Karagandy, look like an improving side, would not an easy one by any means but this seems to be their first time progressing in Europe so a good chance for Pats I'd imagine if they seal the deal this evening.
Big turnaround for Lbujlana on Siroki since last season. Bohs will be up against it. Who will be home first?

Congrats to Pats. Nervy finish, but did the job.
I thought Carrickandy was just some place up the road, but turns out it's across the other side of the globe.

That was a lovely evening for football. I'm gonna ask a stupid question, though: Pats sat back in the second half with 5 deep lying defensive midfielders and let the vikings boss possession. What is the thinking behind this?
Giving them space to play the ball 30 yards from the Pats goal resulted in 2 chances right at the end that should have put Pats out of the competition.
Is it down to lack of fitness that Pats didn't play a more advanced and pressing midfield? Makes no sense to me.

Great result in the end, though there were a couple of close shaves at the end.
