Yep, which means we could be going back to Iceland

would Rovers want someone with a reasonable chance of progression like Glentoran or a big draw like Stoke? Or something in between like Hearts?

Bohs and Pats prospects pretty similar. Some decent trips, some decent teams plus some nightmare trips.

Well our game at home is sold out already so we're better off getting the 'easiest' game we can get. Unless RTE decided to televise our game if we got Stoke seeing as it's an English team but would rather get through to the next round

Have the teams been grouped for tomorrow (narrowed down to 5/6 possible opponents?). It'll be interesting to see who Sligo get. Hopefully its a winnable tie. Really, Sligo should have no problems packing the Showgrounds for the home game regardless of opposition.

Shamrock Rovers tie could be huge, can't look beyond Flora yet but if they get through that, there are a couple of teams they could turnover among the seeded sides.

it will be a tough one in Dalymount next week but hopefully Fenlon will have the shackles off and we can give them a game.

Taking Fagan off was a disaster and putting Traynor in there was questionable too.
Yeah, I thought the subs were odd. Is Murphy out of the team because he's not playing well or because Fagan is better? He absolutely tore us apart on his own at Dalymount earlier in the year. Rossiter was a different class when he came on.

Anyone think we'd have any chance against any of the teams in our pot? Don't know anything about Poltava (bet Glentoran 2-0 away tonight) or Famagusta (bet the Georgians 3-0 at home) enough to know if we've any realistic chance.

Pats are in with a shout with the away goal and they will take confidance from the face they overturned a goal defecit in the last round aswell .

Bohs look like they face too much to do if they want to turn the tie around .

Brennan's the only Bohs player who can really mix it technically with this lot. He'll be key to any fightback next week.

Thankfully he's windy, so we're safe on that front.

Famagusta were in the Champions League group stages a couple of years ago. I remember them drawing with Inter 3-3. Not sure if that was the year Inter went on to win it. Don't think we'd want them

Hearts or Poltava are the teams I hope we get.

Have the teams been grouped for tomorrow (narrowed down to 5/6 possible opponents?). It'll be interesting to see who Sligo get. Hopefully its a winnable tie. Really, Sligo should have no problems packing the Showgrounds for the home game regardless of opposition.

Sligo can get one of;
AC Sparta Praha (CZE),
Stoke City FC (ENG),
Anorthosis Famagusta FC (CYP)/FC Gagra (GEO) - Famagusta won 3-0 at home
Glentoran FC (NIR)/FC Vorskla Poltava (UKR) - Vorskla won 2-0 in Belfast
Heart of Midlothian FC (SCO)

Pats can get one of;
US Città di Palermo (ITA),
FC Dinamo Bucureşti (ROU),
KR Reykjavík (ISL)/MŠK Žilina (SVK) - KR won 3-0 at home
FC Karpaty Lviv (UKR),
FC Tauras (LTU)/ADO Den Haag (NED) - Den haag won 3-2 away

Bohs can get;
AZ Alkmaar (NED),
FK Rudar Pljevlja (MNE)/FK Austria Wien (AUT) – Vienna won 3-0 away
Bursaspor (TUR),
FK Željezničar (BIH)/FC Sheriff (MDA) – Bosnians won 1-0 at home
FK Sūduva (LTU)/IF Elfsborg (SWE) – drew 1-1 in Lithuania

Shamrock Rovers tie could be huge, can't look beyond Flora yet but if they get through that, there are a couple of teams they could turnover among the seeded sides.
Rovers can get one of;
FC København (DEN),
Maccabi Haifa FC (ISR)/FK Borac Banja Luka (BIH) - Maccabi won 5-1 at home
NK Dinamo Zagreb (CRO)/Neftçi PFK (AZE), - Zagreb won 3-0 at home
KS Skënderbeu (ALB)/APOEL FC (CYP), - APOEL won 2-0 away
Skonto FC (LVA)/Wisła Kraków (POL) – Wisla won 1-0 away

IN terms of progression, the best hope for Sligo is probably Hearts, for Pats is KR, for Bohs is Sheriss/Suduva/Elsborg. Obviously Pats and Bohs have a lot of work to do.

Best for Rovers would be Wisla, but they wouldn’t be favourites in any of those ties

Anyone but the Ukrainians will do me

Hmmmmm Nutsey going defencive in european match, if at first it does not work do the same again and again and.......:confused: very difficult to get back into this one in second leg from 2-0 down, have to hope (3 Hail Marys) for an early goal. Whatever happens we MUST have a go at them at Dalymount - two up front (Git and Bisto) and try and drag ourselves back into it.

While they had some nice players technically they were far from great. Conceeding two from set pieces was frustrating - although over 90 mins they were worth win. At 0-2 there is no point in Bohs playing cagey in second leg, so give it a lash Nutsey

Great trip for shams supporters but very tough draw on the pitch :). Should attract a decent crowd to Tallaght and logistically decent enough away trip for the club, so moneywise could be OK (always a big factor for LOI clubs)

Watched the Bohs game. They got what they deserved unfortunately. Poor Fagan had little or no support. Going to be really hard for Bohs to get through. Have they scored 3 times in any game this year (I think their goals for is even worse at home for some mad reason)?

By all accounts Pats were well in the game in Khazakhstan. Will be tough, but certainly in the tie.

Now all we need is a favour from Platini for the next round ;)

is the UEFA Europa draw at 12 or 12.30?

Any game ive watched in Europe where pat fenlon is/mas manager they always sat back against the higher seeded teams and inevitably eventually conceded, sometimes though like hadjuk split it paid off when they got them home, but then other times you think JFDI(go for it).

That seems like the worst draw for rovers.

Didn't copenhagen push chelsea to a draw last year, or very nearly i think?! Yes they did but i thought it was home http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/9424170.stm

cheers.

ya 2 goals in the last 10 minutes or so wasn't it? But sometimes you need luck as in fairness LOI teams generally don't seem to have much of that in EUrope.

Fenlons approach is so much like Traps playing away from home, extremely negative and boring to watch. The difference obviously being that relatively speaking(opposition and the Irish team) Trap has a far better defensive line than fenlon has/had...

Glentoran's Europa League opponents Vorskla Poltava WILL travel to Belfast today to fulfil their second qualifying round first leg fixture tomorrow night, despite having their stadium's offices raided by Ukrainian authorities on Monday.
It has been reported in Ukraine that computers at the Butovsky Memorial Vorskla Stadium were seized as part of investigations into the financial dealings of Vorskla owner and honorary president Kostyantin Zhevago, a high-profile billionaire businessman and the CEO of the Finances and Credit company, one of Ukraine's biggest groups.
He is also, according to Forbes, the 828th richest person in the world.
The raids threw into doubt the club's plans to fly into Northern Ireland for the European tie, and should they have failed to turn up it was possible that Glentoran would have been given a lucrative bye into the next round of the competition.
At the very least, Glentoran could have been going into the second leg with a head start having been awarded a win for the first.
European football's governing body, Uefa, were unaware of the raid until the Belfast Telegraph contacted them yesterday, and they later released a statement which said: "According to the Football Federation of Ukraine, the FC Vorskla Poltava have given guarantees that they will play both games against Glentoran. Based on this, we can confirm that these matches should take place as scheduled."

I like the attitude of all concerned at Sligo, that its about winning and getting through to the next round rather than the more amateurish, negative get a big team. Plenty of time to get big teams if you keep progressing.

Hopefully that attitude carries onto the pitch and pays off and they get through to the next round.

Ya but they had two clear chances at the end one that went right over the bar, and no excuses, its like they get into the position and like a schoolboy get over excited and ejaculate prematurely.

Was it robinson that hit it over the bar, he def had a chance earlier on if it wasn't him who hit it over the bar, i remember watching thinking how the fcuk did he miss that. Though they should have been 1-3 in that anyway.

I like the attitude of all concerned at Sligo, that its about winning and getting through to the next round rather than the more amateurish, negative get a big team. Plenty of time to get big teams if you keep progressing.

Hopefully that attitude carries onto the pitch and pays off and they get through to the next round.

Too right. The thing is, European ties will always draw a larger crowd than the usual at league games regardless of opponent. The publicity of a "big tie" might increase a club's exposure in the national media for a week, but it does nothing in the long-term. Nobody cares after that. Where did all those Shels "fans" go that filled Lansdowne for the Deportivo game a few years ago, for example? What good did that ever do Shels?

I remember thinking last night Pats would get them. Just need to win the 2nd leg now and go through

Was always going to be them. They were the farthest team from Dublin in Pats' draw, after all.

Ukrainian sides are not beatable, IF we get there both us and Sligo will be beaten comfortably
That's the attitude! It's this kind of positive thinking which makes following the League of Ireland such a consistent joy!

If Pats get through, what would be the feasibility of jointly chartering a flight?..They could drop Pats off in Lvov and then head on to Poltava with Sligo :-)
