How did Pats play?

2-1 is a good result. 1-1 would have been even better but coming home with an away goal and only a one goal deficit to overturn is a great outcome. The Kazakhs will have the same travel hassles and tiredness when they come to Dublin so hopefully Pats can do a better job of hammering home that advantage.

Unlucky to concede the late winner but otherwise a very good result. Looking at the stats on Uefa.com.Pats had a few chances and plenty of corners, so not like they were backs against the wall for the whole match. They should be confident of getting the result needed in the 2nd leg.

would Rovers want someone with a reasonable chance of progression like Glentoran or a big draw like Stoke? Or something in between like Hearts?

Bohs and Pats prospects pretty similar. Some decent trips, some decent teams plus some nightmare trips.

I'd rate almost every Premiership team as a bigger draw than any club in Scotland outside the Obvious Two.

They are a big draw in the context of who Sligo could get and how popular a pastime premiership barstooling is.

They are a bigger draw than Hearts. Easily.

Yes good result for them to progress but it does not help our coefficients at all. Maybe Bohs can do better later.

You'd have to prefer a draw with a more favourable chance of progression. When I hear of people talking about hoping for a "big draw" rather than getting into the next round, it just strikes me as a tad amateurish. Progression should be the primary objective if we're to get anywhere in the long-term.

It doesn't help coefficient alright but as important as the are, if clubs get through to the next round, it'll sort itself out. As long as the league can get 2 or 3 clubs to the 3rd qualifying rounds of both competitions, it's good for the league.

i honestly think it depends Danny. I think progression is always the objective but it needs to be balanced with realism for some clubs. For Bohs, progression, though definitely the objective, could be as much a curse as a blessing. A trip to Moldova would be a poor reward for beating Ljubljana. That said, there are no "big names" in our section so progression and the chance to get a chance to play a "big name" would be the objective. I think some Pats fans would think along the same lines.

For Sligo fans - they could draw Stoke or they could draw an unknown georgian team. To me, as a fan, thats a tough call.

I'd have to say it depends as well. Either drawing a big name or else getting a draw with a good chance of progression. Getting somewhere in between isn't that great. If a win is gotten from it it's good obviously but if it's a defeat, it won't live long in the memory.
