from the RTE article

Being seeded will give the Hoops an opportunity to make significant progress in Europe this summer. Victory in the Second Round would guarantee Shamrock Rovers a minimum of four extra European matches including a play-off for a place in the group stages of the Europa League, if required.

Financially, it would also mean a minimum payment of €550,000 from UEFA - €330,000 of which is already guaranteed - and the club would also garner €130,000 should the Hoops qualify for the next round.
Rovers would also benefit to the tune of a further €90,000 should they fail to qualify for the Champions League group stages and move into the Europa League.
figures seem a bit big to me

do the LOI champions get a guaranteed 330k from UEFA ?

and Rovers would get another 220k if they win their second round tie ?

anyone here with a knowledge of how these things work able to confirm these figures are correct ?

RTE: "The Hoops, along with Sligo Rovers, St Patrick's Athletic and Bohemians will enter the UEFA Champions League and Europa League draws in June with the most favourable odds in the history of Irish participation on the European stage."

I hope RTE are right but usually when things like this is being said about LoI clubs, things go pear shaped. Hopefully the teams representing themselves and the league will do well.

Looking at Shamrock Rovers' draw , you would have to think that they have a fighting chance of making the group stages of the Europa league, considering they beat Isreali opposition last season.

I think Rovers will make the group stage of the Europa League. Pat's could also if they get a bit of luck.

Why would Sligo's game have to be moved out of the country if the Showgrounds is not able to meet requirements, surely they are venues in Ireland that could host the game ?

The RDS is definitely OK. I'd imagine Tallaght would be too

Who said anthing about moving it out of the country?

The club has said they will be doing everything they can to get the game played in The Showgorunds. So here's hoping.

Thomond pk.

Perhaps the Sligonians can say for sure, but I reckon it's a lot easier to get from Sligo to Dublin than Sligo to Limerick. Iarnrod Éireann can run a couple of special trains to take the supporters all the way to Dublin, not so easy to get them all to Thomond.

Depends on the opposition, I'd say. If Sligo draw Stoke, I reckon at least 10,000 Stokies will come over for our first European game in almost 40 years. That's getting into RDS or Lansdowne territory, especially when you add in the bandwagon brigade who'll turn up just to see a team who live in the telly.

Oh, Stoke are box office!

I'd think we'd be big enough for a fair few to show up just to see them. The fact that we have a few Irish players on our books would help, of course. But most of the true barstoolers would probably still stay away. After all, it's not like Manyoo are playing a meaningless friendly against a makey-up league select.

Definitely easier to Dublin when you can fly in, get out the airport door in five minutes and into the RDS in seven.

I'm getting all maudlin here listening to the chat about Europe. Grevenmacher and Sofia seem so very far away now :-( Here's hoping that Sligo get to play at home properly, any northern or welsh team would be great for any of the Irish teams. Sligo to Limerick seems logistically a bit of a nightmare.

Its looking good 4 the LOI teams in Europe this season. I can see Pats winning in 1st and 2nd round, while Bohs should win in 2nd round btw they could be drawn against TNS.

Shamrock Rovers should win in 2nd round but theyd have to be extremely lucky with 3rd round draw to go through.

While Sligo could be facing Athletico, Stoke City, Fulham etc.

Won't matter. When the Irish teams are hammered in the group stages, they'll throw it back at you. My suggestion is not listening to them and enjoy supporting your own team

It wasn't regionalised officially last year either, but they were still put in the groups that were practically regionalised. I've linked it above.

With this draw on Monday, I know Pat's are seeded for the first round. Will they and Boh's be seeded for the second round draw as well? From what I can see based on 80 clubs being drawn in round 2, with the round 1 team being determined by the team with the higher rank, Pat's and Boh's should be seeded 25th and 32nd respectively. It's a good position to be in for two clubs looking to join Sligo in the third round.

Yeah. In Round 1 Pats are seeded

In Round 2 Bohs are seeded and the winners of the Pats 1st round tie is seeded.

The draw for Rd 2 is made on monday too. So 2nd round draw may be Winners of Pats/Team A play winners of team B/Team C

No Irish clubs will be seeded after that

Any hints as to how the groupings are going to work?

Got this, on procedure from uefa.com

Draw procedure
For the first qualifying round equal numbers of seeded and unseeded teams will be allocated to five groups of ten in accordance with rankings established at the beginning of the season. For each group, balls containing seeded teams will be placed in one bowl and unseeded teams in another. A ball from each will be placed in a large empty bowl in the middle, and the first team drawn will play its first match at home. Clubs from the same association cannot be drawn against each other.

And definitely getting ahead of myself here, but, should Derry qualify for next season, would they be able to get a uefa licence?

More in response to your post in the Dublin Super Cup section...

It's a huge ask alright. I'm confident despite all the points you make that Pat's can make it through two rounds for a third time. The 3rd round can produce some higher profile games, it'll be great to see as many LoI clubs as possible involved.

Is the CL draw on Monday as well?

Pats could get a nice run together in the Europa if they maintain their current form. Seen something about a few Irish League players going to sign for them shortly too so that should help their squad improve.

Apologies read it wrong its actually Drogheda who'll potentially be signing players from the Irish League. It was in the Independent's preview of Drogs v Pats yesterday.
