Thanks,Any idea who the ref is for that game tonight as it looks like the referee's have a huge influence on games these last few weeks.I thought wembley were down to play pike this weekend?
Yes Summerville are definately playing Ballananty the weekend..From what i gather they are missing 5-6 players. They will be hoping there B players get something out of it!

Dont believe half the crap you read here about refs, you know how (esp certain premier sides) try to ref things from the side line, they convince themselves they are right and the ref is wrong and get 'excited' when they're not having any influence. Its easier rant on about a ref than admit their own mistakes.

granville have 2 games left,, if carew and granville draw and granville win the other game they would be on 21 with carew, with summerville losing there remaining game they would be on 20pts, thats also if corbally get something from the balla game, cant see it coming to that though reckon they'll be safe
thats spot on,, can't see it happening either but i guess you never know,,

Agree that you shouldn't believe everything about ref's, but having to listen to a refs report being read out at a council meeting, realising that it contained so many misrepresentations of the facts that it wasnt funny...maybe if SOME refs showed some respect to people inteliigence then people might respect them...
there are many refs who are respected by most people, but the one ref that i think has the respect of nearly all of the foootball people is Enda quaid. Communicats with players and officials in a superb manner. He also has played the game and understands players frustrations. some of the refs appointed to the top premier games this season shouldn't be left ref a game of blow football. I know that there is a shortage of refs, but if there are no refs how about less teams....

One idea would be to pick out a number of refs(decent number) at the start of the season that can ref premier games only. The "better" refs if you like(provided there are any). The fact that they would have so fewer games might help their performance as they would be examined more closely. Also it gives refs around Limerick something to aim for i.e. to reach the premier standard of refereeing!
This way there would be some kind of consistincy to refereeing performances???
just a suggestion

In fairness most of these guys have never played football they see it as something they can pick up to earn an extra bit of cash nd they havent a clue on the flip side how many of you players would be a ref? not a lot im thinking!! But the only way you'll stop these people ruining the game is get your finger out become a ref, Im sure that if you've at least played the game you'd know your offsides whats a leg whats a hand etc EX PLAYERS=GOOD REFS simple

pick out a number of refs
Paddy Collins is the man - He picks who he thinks is capable - So with your suggestion who do you think should decide the best Refs? The Clubs ? Don't think so!
gives refs around Limerick something to aim
What Ref in their right mind would look forward to Reffing Premier games when they can get the same money for mickey mouse games.
The abuse they have to put up with is worth no money.
Janesboro need to take a serious look at their carry on on the sidelines. IMO it starts from the manager and spreads into the spectators and Ballynanty, Fairview, Pike and Regional are also serial offenders.
The current batch of Refs is all we have so we have to stop behaving like a shower of old women and accept their decisons(admittedly sometimes looney) as part of the game or go play Playstation where the Ref is always perfect.

No cornflakes this morning?
I do agree with the sideline bit. But in fairness, how do you think 30,000 plus fans roaring at the ref is dealt with in England? By ignoring it !!!
If the ref is good enough, the sideline will have no impact on his decisions... Abuse like that at the wembly pike game should be dealt with... Dom Considine and the Crusaders should be punished harshly to set an example... Someone said the ldmc were at that game so they know whats going on. Its up to them to do something about the sideline

As far as I know thats already done, the better refs do the premier, 1a etc, the average refs in 1b, 2a/b and the not so great refs div 3 etc. But obviuosly there's some overlap becasue theres not always enough refs to go around so you'll get the good refs doing lower divisions and vice versa, but the tendency is to assign the best refs to the prem and the big games. At least thats my observation from follwing different divs in different seasons in the past, so I'm pretty sure thats the way its done.

What is needed is linesmen (referees assistants)

Balla wont be playing Corbally next Thursday night as they have the Touhy final Tues night and Lawson final the following Sunday. Pike / Wembley being heard Tues night so its possible that Pike/ Wembley issue could be resolved before Balla get to play Corbally.

Lawson final always has to be the last game of the season doesn't it? So that would probably be pushed back until after the Balla/Corbally match has been played.

Touhy should be played and finished by February like the League Cup in england. Instead of having it drag on to June as it is now.
Pike-Wembley conflict will be resolved Tuesday night. With one of the two options of Pike awarded the points or a replay that following Sunday on the table.

I think divisional cups should be played off in the first 2 weeks at the start of the season,
It would give all managers a chance to look at new signings and also to try a few different ideas (ie; formation's, different players in different postions).
So for example (as is the case every August) all clubs would have HUGE squads to start the season with, the 1st round could be played on a Tuesday evening (as the bright evenings are still available), the 4 quarter finals on the Sunday, the 2 semis on the following Tuesday, and the final on the Sunday (all within 2 weeks, and before the end of August, or you could keep the final for later in the season).........Then come the start of September, the league commences....
This would suit clubs (as the divisional cup is out of the way), managers (as the get a chance to see new players (rather than chancing new players in important league games), and players (as it would build up their fitness for the start of the league campaign).........Just a thought, what do ye think????

Pike will be awarded the points for Wembley's inability to follow the rules of the game. Simple as. I'm not particularly wanting to go over this again,as its been talked of too much as is..Personally I'd want to play and win the match to get the title, but I just can't see it happening to be honest.

The precedent was set at the Abbey and Hill Celtic game 3 seasons ago, when the match was abandoned in the 83rd minute after a infraction on the pitch involving players and staff. Hill Celtic got the points in that incident(correct me if I'm wrong). Current Chairman John Walsh for Pike was manager of Abbey that season. It bares various similarities to the Pike-Wembley clash. So from what I judge, Pike have all the advantages going into the meeting Tuesday night.

Once upon a time Sir, until I broke both my Tibula and Fibula in the same tackle. This was back when the only recoup was 7 months in Croom hospital. Eddie O'Donovan amongst plenty others were present when I broke my leg. Lets just say it was back when Charlie Elliot played for Pike,if you can recall that or even knew that, then your as old as myself..

i see your point the only thing is,balla are the only team that is punished by this happening, nobody knows how the match would have finished and basically wembley get off scot free for there actions,to me thats wrong, why not replay the match,i'm guessing pike will win anyways and dock points from wembley from the start of next season, therefore they will be rightly punished for there actions and it will send out a message that the treatment of the ref was out of order
