I think that is a bit harsh, surely there have been worse teams, hill celtic and park spring to mind from recent seasons. Is the reason why corbally are so bad is that all there better players left as soon as they got them promoted
Northville were the worst team i ever seen playing in the premier

A lot of players left, most to the boro, 8 went to them with 2 since returned. I think a lot of the problem this season was Pa Mul coming in with his "big ideas" and a few of his own players. When the going got tough he bailed as did some of the players he brought with him. A few of their better players that remained aren't always available to them as they're in college in far flung places and such. They've done well to get themselves into a position where they have a good fighting chance of staying up.

corbally star granville three of of the worst teams that have ever played premier you're talking about beating granville they are the WORST team to play premier football in the history of the town while ye have been on this run of form ye were hit for five by aisling and aisling were hit for five by the view and pike,,,the only reason corbally won't go down is because the granville and star are so bad,
i think that is a very unfair comment dell hell.in fairness to corbally you have to give them credit for getting teams out and winning games considering pa mul jumped ship and took 4 of the players he signed with him earlier in the season.also as everybody knows janesboro have signed 5 ex corbally players, and according to one of the corbally lads i was talking to recently at least 5 of there current team work outside of limerick and travel home week in week out for games.i think it is a credit to them that they have managed to put themselves in with a great chance of staying up.the luck they have had in recent times would cripple many a premier team.also considering janesboro won the double last year it just shows you where corbally might be if they could manage to hold a squad together.i dont know why but for some reason they dont seem able too.

There's a fair few away during the week so that affects numbers. There was around 30 players signed at the start of the season and about only 15 of those are left. They've had to use B players on a few occassions recently for weeknight games. AS to why the players are leaving, well that's not an easy one. All of the players that left for the Boro are Corbally local who played with Corbally from schoolboy up to junior. I have a few ideas as to why they left. I'd imagine a big one is that you're asked to pay €130 at the start of the season. Now this is part membership and part corbally lotto. (you're entered into each weekly draw over the course of the year) I know a lot have a problem paying that much just to play football.

thats unreal E130... at summerville we can't get some of the players to come up with E60 and this is for club membership and insurance the only time people pay is when they get hurt and want treatment,,, corbally have decent facilities maybe a lack of ambition on the football side of things is the reason players are unhappy,, does your astro not take care of players subs?

ive been readin wat ye say on this site for a long time now,and while a lot of ye make sense,ye then let yourselves by makin some silly remarks. The first thing ye talk about is the league winners. Lets be honest about this, theres only three clubs in the hunt for the league-Ballananty,Pike and Fairview, and if they draw against each other its really only between Pike and Balla. PIke to win it cos they have this ability to win the important games.
The next thing is relagation. Theres really only one place left here,Granvilles plight is simple-lack of goals + small squad=relagation. Its too tight to call between the rest, but the way star leak goals is a worry..
The last thing is Keith Hartnett, jesus lads give him a break. He mightnt be good enough to get into the fairview winnin teams from the turn of the century, but he gets u 20 goals a season and theres many clubs whod be happy with a striker that can do that
Christ first post and he's made more sense that the majority of us put together...

From what I recall Pa Mull had an average of 4 players for 4 training sessions over a 2 week period,no wonder he left, any sane person would..Severe lack of commitment. And that paying 160 at the start of the year is a horrible idea too, most clubs just sell individual tickets per week.Corbally's lotto can't be that bad that they have to tie down people at the start of the year for it, can it?

Thats way to much money to expect people to pay up to be honest..Surely there is some way that teams can arrange a certain amount to pay each sunday morning(or whenever a game is on) that each player brings 10euro to each game and hands it over...That covers u then for your insurance for the year and your lotto and whatever???

so ye have lost 8 players or so in the past season, we've lost at least 12 squad players since the end of last season to now alone, plus none of our "B" players will play with the "A" team, and we're still in with a chance.

keith is on it for every tournament that he is eligible for and mark sheehan and alan barry were in the provisional squads.

Can't do much if theres a severe lack of commitment, can't do anything unless the players WANT to play...You can't force anyone to do anything these days..

I have a question for all genuine Pike supporters. Do you think Pike are making any progress or development off the pitch? It appears that alot of other local clubs seem to be progressing with regards to pitches, training facilities, changing rooms....Pike have a income from the clubhouse bar and functions which many teams in Limerick don't have yet they seem to be able to upgrade changing rooms and improve training facilities. For over two years now, Pike have been selling bricks to towards the new changing rooms yet no plans or work have been shown or has taken place. Pike appears to be one of the leading teams on the field yet off the field they are falling further and further behind as each season goes by. The current state and the decline of the pitch is only proof of this. What are your opinions?

Current state and decline? Still the best pitch in limerick bar none.Decline?Where? And compared to what?3 pitches(1 floodlit),Secure parking facilities, fully functioning bar and clubhouse, massive hall upstairs.Only thing that needs improving is the dressing rooms I'll give you that. The fully piped and drained pitch is still one of the only in Limerick thats playable 365 days a year.

I agree with you, all the facilities you mentioned are there but they have existed for years now. There has been no IMPROVEMENT in facilities for several years or even an attempt to use the income been generated by the club for the club. The pitch is playable all year round but I feel the standard of the pitch this year isn't as good as it used to be or even should be.

Also 3 pitches???? From what I know there are two pitches and a cattle field with lights on it that players train on. Hardly the definition of a pitch.

Your talking rubbish in my opnion - The Pike field has been immaculate any time i have seen it this season and as said above is one of only a very few pitches that is playable all year around.
As for selling bricks well this has to be done in my opinion as Pikes income from the bar is not that great because of how out of the way the clubhouse is,you could go up there on any week night and you would be lucky to have a handful of people there.
Also dont think your comment that they have fallen behind off the pitch recently is fair.Maybe you could have said that a few years ago when they had no schoolboy teams but certain members of the club have worked hard the last few years and now they have a good few schoolboy teams so that in my opinion can only be looked on as progress.

Falling further behind ??????? we have 7 school boy team's 5 years ago we had none..bar / clubhouse running at a profit..the best playing surface in limerick (x2)..never had a game called off because the pitch was unplayable...new dressing rooms held up because of planning permission..new committee lead by John Walsh, who I might add is doing a fantastic job...no debts hanging over the club..if this is falling behind other clubs...every club in Limerick is in serious trouble

you seem to know a hell of alot about pike ,but i would never come on this site and try and justify any work on or off the field that pike have done/doing.pike,s name AND facilities speaks for itself.and you mention the decline are you having a laugh .stop trying to stir a reaction from GENUINE pike supporters and believe me there is,nt a whole lot of them on these forums.the pike supporters on this site only know what they find out on these threads and want to be in the know except for silvercircle who is the only genuine one,now could we get back to talking about the wknds games and stop instigating an arguement

Hardly..Purcell disappeared for large periods of the game,Harnett hit some lovely passes through out the game.Pa Moloney had a great game.Held up the ball very well and laying it off well.Trevor Cosgrove was poxed to stay on the pitch at times, very hot headed. I think Kelliher is still up on the Fairgreen trying to turn around, getting Bigger by the day..Sad to see really, one of the more talented Junior players around Limerick of recent years.

Have to agree with u there a chronic ref he did the 1b match against Prospect and Murroe tues night all he does is stand in the middle of the pitch, and as for reffing a premier match absolute joke . But he's just 1 of many bad refs it would make u want to give up the game altogether.
