Summerville 1 - 6 Fairview

Some of those 6 goals were impressive, Summerville heads seem to drop after the first went in and im sure they werent amused to see Brian Buckley brought on to tighten up the Fairview defence in the second half. :ball:

True. Major selection headaches now at the club (good ones at that). Fairview players who didnt take to the pitch at all today include Robbie Kelleher, Paul Harmon, Gary Hannon, Ger Hannon, James Hayes, Brendan Hughes, Jeffrey Judge to name but a few!

How did we know you would say that???

If you want a fair report on the game, look at todays loacal paper, which was written by a "neutral observer of the game".

It read, "Pike had to withstand some nervous moments but did enough to take the points".

I rest my case.;)

Pike players and supporters sh*t themselves every time Pa Barry was on the ball for Star, and I wouldn't blame them either, the way he walked through your team to score his goal.

And before you start bitch*ng, I will agree that Pike got a few chance in the second half to make it 3, but that was only because Star were pushing for the equalizer.

you are a funny man....... pike should have had at least another 2 in the first half. Missed a few sitters in the second half. Ask smackers how many times he touched the ball both halves. He had 1 save second half and about 2 kick outs.

Not even going to argue, all I'll say is Pike need to improve big time if they want to win the league this season, and even the Pike supporters will agree with me there. (at least the honest unblinkered ones will agree anyway).

pike will be left behind with their 8 thropies, and 2-1 to a young inexperienced star side.. do you remember the gerldines and cals teams from years ago that won throphies............. that may become ye. ya star were poor, but young and can only improve. they will stay up with little to spare

agree with most of it and balla one of the best sides in town over last few years but i thought last years munster junior final showed balla always come up short on footballing side of things.in fairness they play to their strenghts but i wouldnt call them a footballing side.

abbey if you saw the match pike could easily have scored 6 or seven but didnt. Pikes problem through the years has been missed chances and again on Sunday Star could have got a share of the points from a fluky goal. Three points are still three points what ever way you look at it

If the truth be told Star never looked liked creating anything and pike weren't great. If we dont step up a gear or two then there will be no league this year.

Fairview have to be odds on to win the league with there squad. When the mid week matches come in a lot of teams will drop points because of player unavailability. Pike could struggle with that this year for the first time in a long time.

Star def werent the worst side we've played this year and they showed a lot more heart than summerville last week so I tip them to stay up

Lets be realistic here lads.
Balla are not a great footballing side.
Long ball is there forte. There physical and slow and the back.
There strength is there physicality. And P Hickey in goals.
Pike Regional Fairview Wembley and Aisling are better footballing sides.

could not agree more and saw the match, ya star could have sneaked a draw cause pike would not put the game away in fairness i's score against carey in goals but 3 points on the board whatever way taking. ye need a greedy striker thats hungry for goals and not one who plays for the crowd to look apon him with a look wat i just did attitude [maloney]

Fairview, Pike and Wembley are the only 3 sides in Limerick who play anything close to REAL FOOTBALL.. Balla are route one as are Regional. Fairview and Wembley have young lads who were brought through playing the right way. It's standing to them now. Pike recruited footballing mercenaries.. Not as impressive as View and Wembleys method but typical of modern clubs.

have to disagree with you there.balla and regional are both good footballing sides.having seen them at close quarters they are both well able to knock the ball around and also use route one which makes sense when you look at their strength and size up front.

My main point being Balla and Regional don't play football against the Pikes and Fairviews of this world. Maybe they turn it on against Star or Summerville and the like, but they resort to aggressive tactics when playing at the Fairgreen or Pike field. Surely they should attempt to play??

Sniffer is vital, but a centre forward he aint. Except of course for St. Pats and now Limerick. But he is being missed up there.

Also, a real test of any team is when faced with Jackman Park on a glorious Summer Sunday. As with last years final. And Pike made a mockery of Balla's "good football" by destroying them. I was there and it was "Football versus Balla"... Not that I enjoyed it. Was hoping for a real close footballing game.

Star were missing, Collopy, Griffin, Joyce, Morton, Waters, Flynn, to name a few, but you dont hear them bitching about it!!!!

Anyway, ye'r missing Sniffer every second match, and Mitchell isn't a usual starter, so ye were really only missing 2 regular starters, where as at least 4 of the above 6 Star players would normally start.
