well done to balla flyin the flag for Limerick junior soccer. Went to see the St. Michaels v Lisselton game today St Michaels up 3-1 with 5 minutes to go looked a very strong physical side gotta be favourites now with a strong Lisselton team gone 6 genuine ex league of Ireland players on the team good luck to balla in the rest of the competition.

Also caught the summerville pike game today pike deserved to win but didn't look too strong themselves, Summerville strugled all over the pitch not a good game one big decision to be made and the ref didn't make it only a goal between the sides when smackers came out and cleaned out gareth kramer could have changed the whole outlook of the game. With that said i dont think summerville desrved anything out of the game

ya the new pitch will be the number one once its ready but we don't want to rush onto it and wreck it right off the bat..the long term plan is then to dig up the old pitch and put a respectable surface down then wall that one off and hopefully have something like the boro pike and fairview,,maybe four five years..

The second pitch would also mean the stranglers who are too cheap to pay the entrance fee would be forced to pay to see any matches. Charlie seemed very pleased with the grounds, really shaped up well now.

thats funny L37/limerick FC have really been drawwing the crowds for the past few seasons with inspiring football:D

Theres twice as many people in our SC alone than that was at that 'game' yesterday! no crowd, no atmosphere, wonky pitch, 90mins of bitching from the Pike players and a poor standard of football. Why in Gods name people think Keith Harnett is LOI standard il never know. Only thing that caught my eye was Connie Macs pink top!

Balla for the title. :ball:

Went to the Regional v Boro game, Boro looked really poor and with Alan Carroll going to L37 they will struggle for the remainder of the season they lack creativity and looked dangerous from set pieces only, Regional play decent football and could be dark horses for the title going to be an interesting few weeks ahead

[QUOTE=Green_Hoop;879636]Summerville 1 - Pike 4

Carew 1 - AA 1 A major slip up from AA judging on Carew's recent results.Gordon saved a penalty apparently.

Aisling had plenty of chances to win the game comfortably, does not help when the ref is blowing off side every time to ball goes forward, it was a complete joke. As for the pitch - another joke.

agree with summerville man it's unfair to say summerville are a poor team on one performance..bad game this morning the ref was shocking, only one big
decision to make and he bottled it,Smackers should have gone off for kicking the summerville striker in the head while he was on his feet, stonewall peno
In fairness pike were the better side and deserved the win but AA looked a much better side than pike last week nothing special about pike at all

Definately agree with u there..It was a stonewall peno..He took the man out and got no where near the ball..Ref bottled it alright...He came over to our manager after the game and told him he got it wrong and should have sent him off and gave the peno..No good to us then..That could have put us 1-0 up..Might and i say might have have been a different game..A goal can insprire a team!! But yes pike did deserve the win..we gave away to much ball!!!

U are spot on there....Thats the idea alright..We will make a fortiune in years to come...Fine setup there ..Hoping to get the astro turf there as well...And then we will work on the pub..

the fact that ye are comparing Limerick 37 to junior clubs around town says all you need to know about the current setup of senior football

Can you think of a better way of explaining to Junior football fans that the senior club are the biggest show in town??

I mean, for the purposes of the argument, it wouldn't be very useful to compare them to say Barcelona or Sheffield United now would it??

Definately agree with u there..It was a stonewall peno..He took the man out and got no where near the ball..Ref bottled it alright

Pike had a stonewall peno early in first half aswell and ref gave a free kick.

I mean normally I'd tell you these things balance out over the course of a season but this actually balanced out over the course of a game! :)

So let me get this straight

Despite the fact that Limerick s attendances average over 600, you refuse to follow them ever because you are upset by what no more than a dozen (2% of the average home crowd) people say on t'internet??

2% of the average crowd you sure about that???

Yes, if you put 12 over 600 and multiply by 100 you get 2%.:confused:

Just reading trough these last few pages and its a load of ****e really.

I follow both grades but i have to say that i can understand why Junior followers have a dig at L37. Some l37 fans think that LOI first division is streets ahead of junior, from watching both grades all i can see is that the Senior players are more competitive than Junior Plays (but not all) and that Senior get more of a crowd. I watched games up in Jackman last year and tbh some of the "football" was total and utter crap to say the least. Sometimes it was like tennis with the ball going from defence to defence for most of the game. I also understand that L37 gave a walk over last week cos they didn't have enough players, That is Lowest standard of Junior you can get.
On the other hand i think its sad that Junior followers take the **** out of L37 when l37 was setup by Soccer Limerick "all grades of football in Limerick", so really they are only taking the **** out of themselves and eachother!!!.

Anyway.......

You say it looks like 1 from 3 at the "bottom" but aren't you forgetting that 2 teams go down, and we are only 3pts behind ye with a game in hand and also have to play ye, Granville, & Wembley at home!!!! You seem confident that Summerville are safe already!!!!

Trust me, its is any 2 from the bottom 4 to go down.

Graham was in goals, I dont think Robbie wants to play in goal.

id have to disagree.. think the worst performance ive seen from summerville was against aisling only 1 week ago... 4-1 down at home with over half hour to go is more embarrassing id say..to top it off, fellas being fairly happy after that game at losing only 4-3 is the epitomy of embarrassing stuff :D

20-22pts should see you safe.

id say as low as 40 to 45 points could win it dependin on how the matches go between the top 4.it looks like balla may have a lot of midweek fixtures too if they keep winnin in the cups.20 points would be about rite to stay up though id say

Stunning debut for two-goal Lynch as Ireland U17 defeat Finland

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Tuesday, 19 February 2008 Section: Underage International

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Under-17 Friendly International
Republic of Ireland 3-0 Finland
Paul Murphy 62
Lee-Jay Lynch 69, 85

Lee-Jay Lynch from Regional United in Limerick scored a brace on his International debut tonight to help Ireland’s Under-17 team defeat Finland in a friendly staged at Buckley Park, Kilkenny.

Finland had the first chance of note after five minutes when Tuomas Rannankari was left unmarked from a corner but his header lacked power.

The Irish took command from that point onwards with captain Conor Clifford the link-man for strikers Paul Murphy and Darragh Satelle.

Murphy looked lively in attack for Ireland and almost snatched the opening goal on 10 minutes. Shaun Timmons, playing on his debut for Ireland, played a cross-field pass from the left and Murphy drove a low volley from 20 yards yards which Finland goalkeeper Aku-Teppo Kelo gathered at the second attempt.

Irish captain Conor Clifford smashed a shot off the underside of the crossbar three minutes later after Murphy set him up with the cut-back to the edge of the penalty area.

Ireland began to probe the Finland defence and utilised the pace and skills of Robert Brady on the left flank to engineer many attacks before half-time.

Darragh Satelle couldn’t convert a cross shortly before the break despite being left free in the box and Mark Connolly was also culpable of missing a chance when he dragged a shot wide of the near post.

The home side picked up where they left off for the second half and deservedly took the lead after 62 minutes.

Murphy broke from midfield and slipped a pass to the substitute Greg Cunningham who sped past his marker on the left before pulling the ball back across goal from the end line for Murphy to blast home from eight yards.

Lee Jay Lynch came on as a substitute with 23 minutes left for Gavin Holohan and scored Ireland’s second goal two minutes later.

He showed a cool head to stay calm and drill a low drive past Finland goalkeeper from the right side of the penalty area.

Lynch repeated the trick with five minutes left, burying another shot beyond the 'keeper from an acute angle to wrap up a 3-0 victory.

Ireland will meet Finland again on Thursday at Buckley Park (7.30pm) in what will be their final warm-up game before next month’s UEFA Championship Elite stage qualifiers.

Ireland topped their European Championship first phase qualifying mini-group in September and have home advantage once more for the second, Elite, phase next month.

The Irish will open that segment of the qualifiers against Germany on 13 March at Terryland Park in Galway followed by a meeting with Greece two days later on 15 March at Lissywoolen Stadium in Athlone.

Their final group game comes on 18 March when they face Portugal back at Terryland Park. Only the winner of the pool will advance to the European finals which are to be staged in Turkey during May.

Ireland: Gerard Hanley (Salthill Devon), Pauric Ormsby (Crumlin United), Shaun Timmons (Birmingham City), John Dunleavy (Wolves), Mark Connolly (Wolves), Conor Clifford (Chelsea), Gavin Holohan (Cherry Orchard), Conor Hourihane (Sunderland), Darragh Satelle (Crumlin United), Paul Murphy (Ipswich Town), Robert Brady (Manchester United).
Substitutes: Greg Cunningham (Manchester City) for Brady (46 mins), John Sullivan (Crumlin United) for Hourihane (60 mins), Dean Kelly (Carrigaline) for Satelle (64 mins), Lee Jay Lynch (Regional Utd) for Holohan (67 mins), Kallum Keane (Derby County) for Clifford (84 mins)

Finland: Kelo, Toivomaki, Appel, Nissinen, Simpanen, Poutiainen, Schuller, Rannankari, Ring, Alonen, Hanhela.

Referee: Sean Grant.

Yeah, we'd be happy if we kept the score down to 5-0, anything from this game would be a huge bonus for us as its one of our games in hand on Corbally but realistically we're not expecting anything, and I'd say Fairview will have to much for Summerville, maybe 3-0 to the View.
