an honest observation ....

without doubt the most naturally talented goalscorer in junior football (probably in Ireland)

but ....

if Robbie Kelleher cant get himself motivated to get fit for premier league LOI with a pay cheque at irelands most historic club what makes anyone think he'll be bothered to do it playing junior.
he was getting fit with rovers after scoring 2 on his home debut he was dropped from the squad and left because he was travelling to dublin 3 to 4 nights a week and wasn't getting a game

If Paul O'Donnell still had the interest and fitness,he'd walk over Robbie, easily the most talented/gifted I've seen to leave limerick in a long time, along with Brian O'Callaghan I'd say.

I meant fellas playing in town at the moment

LMFAO at Brian O'Callaghan btw.

Saying L37 would take Robbie from those 3 isn't saying much, its not exactly like your Bohemians now is it...

Nope. But we are the next level up

If he had a good football brain he probably would have been capped a few times - his positional sense can be brutal but his pace can get him out of trouble at times.

Definitely one of the most cultured centre backs I've seen and I include LoI in that.

But he is prone to lapses of concentration/bad decision making.

That goal Hartnett got for Pike Sunday for example would never happen in a LoI match.

Decent player alright though

No, must be a different one

The Mike Carey I'm talking about is decent as centre halfs in town go.

Don't think that's really disputable tbh.

As for the cultured thing maybe it's because in LoI you're put under far more pressure to get rid then you are down in the stiffs

Thought he looked really composed for a Junior Ball centre half

But liable to do silly things

Maybe it was half dozen off days :)

Leagues at Intermediate/Junior level, overall, do not seem to be well documented re historic data. This has developed as a bit of a hobby collating info.
Also fascinated by history of soccer in city. 1937 is known as the year City had first senior club. Was this a totally new club formed to gain admission to the league ?, granting of senior status to an already established Junior club, and year of senior status taken as year of formation. Or an amalgamation of junior clubs to form senior club ?
1891/92 IFA Cup final was between Linfield & Black Watch Regiment shown as garrisoned in Limerick. As with other garrison towns it was matches between army and locals that led to formation of town or local clubs examples-Athlone & Sligo. In Limerick's case just find it fascinating soccer seems to have to taken so long to take hold, considering city's size. Do know re rugby & gaa, but surely soccer must have been played as well.
Know city had success in Munster Junior Cup 1920's.

Thats rubbish,

I played alongside Mike Carey with The Dines for around 4-5 years and he is an exceptional player who has everything.

Strenght, Pace, Power, Good in the air, and a great belt of a ball.

He would get on any team in town, and that includes Pike & Balla.

History Nut if your serious about this you need to speak to Brian O Brian.

Hes an old pike man who isnt around the club much these days but is an absolute gentleman and from the way your talking I'd say the two of ye could be locked away for days talking about local football.

If he doesnt know it about local football, at junior and senior level over the years, then its not worth knowing.

If you want to chase him up drop me a private message and I'll give you what little details I know about how to track him down
