Nobody has suggested in any way that Maguire is immediately the answer to all our prayers.
Indeed. All anyone is saying at most is to give Maguire a try. If Adam Rooney, for example, is worth a look and a call-up into a squad, then why not give Maguire a chance?

We have to give him a chance at this stage. Unless Scott Hogan or Jutkewitz (hope I spelled that right) come on board between now and June, then who is left.
For me the obvious candidates are Maguire and Paddy Madden.
I understand that MON may want to try to fall back on the old guard (Walters, Long, Murphy, Doyle) but realistically he has to jettison one of them and bring in either Maguire or Madden or both.
He has to do it in order to boost the attacking department for the remainder of the campaign. I would think Doyle is the obvious casualty

This fanboy from balls.ie doesn't seem to think so. - https://www.balls.ie/football/harry-maguire-favourite-player-to-watch-357316
His name is boldly British-sounding (but no, there's no link for Irish eligibility), so much so that the cliché 'if his name were Harry Maguirinho he'd be worth £50m' writes itself, and he is blessed with the looks of a generic FIFA create-a-player, making him virtually unmarketable, so being a defender in a team that has spent the season struggling in the relegation zone, it wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibility for him to go unnoticed. But seriously, the guy is an absolute baller.

Thought that was a pretty weak analysis of striking options TBH, with no mention of O'Brien and Sheridan, as tets said, or even McGoldrick, who is probably the one striking option under 30 who is ready to go right now. And while it's nice that Rory Gaffney is making a solid career for himself, surely Billy Clarke is ahead of him in the pecking order, especially if Bradford get promoted. No mention that Will Keane issued a come-and-get-me plea just before injury stalled a burgeoning Premier League career, and no reference to our promising under-age strikers (Grego-Cox, McDonagh, Duffus, Hale, Connolly, Idah, Roach). Maybe some of us should be writing for the Indo - I mean, I seem to have a more comprehensive view of our options and I'm living in Canada!

I'd be suprised if either gets another cap. Or anyone on Sam's list. The fact that we don't have an international class striker(after Shane long) won't make any of them internationals

Fairly shoddy article. Starts and finishes with Gaffney. If he's the answer then I'm worried about the question. O'Brien and Clarke have much for goals at that level. Not to mention Eoin Doyle. The list of comparable names is endless.
Right now, our options are what they are. The only potential call-ups are Sheridan or Maguire, from what I see. Others would be English-born declarers.

Excellent research again TOWK, not as good as the Liam Bossin rumour you picked up, but still very impressive. Good to see that there is interest in him and that Everton aren't ready to let him go easily. Hopefully he starts getting regular senior football at a decent level next season via loan, transfer or graduation to the Everton first team, as he's at an age where he should be looking beyond the underage setup at Everton.
this Cillian Mbappe lad for Monaco must have an irish mum? ;)

Rory Gaffney (Bristol Rovers), 28: The redhead from Galway is a dark horse in this race, as he is not a prolific goalscorer, but what appeals is his ability to master each level as he has climbed the rungs from League of Ireland First Division with Mervue United, to Premier Division with Limerick, to League Two with Cambridge United and Bristol Rovers, to League One. It makes one wonder what his real potential is, if he were given the chance to play with better players. A strong, pacey player, with a cracking shot, he has a great attitude, and displays vision and intelligence in his play, factors which are not as common as one would like in the game, but are highly prized by top-level managers.
Rory Gaffney is already playing with better players - players that are better than him.
KrisLetang
14/04/2017, 5:54 PM
And low level managers don't prize any of those things.
Team President: What sort of players are you looking for, Skip?
Skip: Ahh. Bad attitude. Crackless shot. Blindness. Unpacey. A few sandwiches short of a picnic perhaps. Weak.
Team Pres: Jaysus me! Why?
Skip: Well...I'm not a high level manager. You said so the other day!

Where is that suggested ?
The Pundit Arena piece (http://www.punditarena.com/football/nmenezes/8-irish-wonderkids-based-overseas/) states the following in relation to Browning:
Lukas Browning (FC Twente)
http://www.punditarena.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/C8UzIv9XgAAjOIB-768x511.jpg
Drogheda-born Browning recently joined Dutch side FC Twente and has caught the eye at underage level for both Ireland and Sweden. Capable of playing across the midfield but particularly comfortable on the left wing, the 18-year-old most recently represented his mother’s birth country Sweden having played for Ireland at under-17 level in March 2016.

Having played at International level with both Sweden and Ireland (he was capped in 2015 in the under 17 Euro championships) he finally declared for Sweden in 2016.He currently trains with the Swedish u18 International group and aims to be part of the u 19 Squad in 2018

Browning has represented Ireland competitively at under-17 level (http://www.uefa.com/under17/season=2016/teams/player=250089895/index.html), so I wonder did he request a formal switch before later playing for Sweden... If he did and his appearances for Sweden at under-age level have also been competitive, that means he is now tied to Sweden for good. Do we know if this is the case? Perhaps it's not the case as he has only since played for Sweden at under-18 level (http://www.transfermarkt.com/lukas-browning-lagerfeldt/profil/spieler/401319), as far as I know, and FIFA do not presenty host competitive fixtures in this age category.

I see the poster who started the YBIG thread (https://forum.ybig.ie/mikey-johnston-celtic-fc_topic55302.html) on Johnston claims (https://forum.ybig.ie/forum_posts.asp?TID=55302&PID=1971408&title=mikey-johnston-celtic-fc#1971408) the player was "snubbed by the SFA" and has "links to Gweedore". He also says that the FAI are "supposedly" on the case. No evidence is provided for any of his assertions, although, as you say, he does claim (https://forum.ybig.ie/forum_posts.asp?TID=55302&PID=1971465&title=mikey-johnston-celtic-fc#1971465) journalist Phil Mac Giolla Bháin (https://twitter.com/Pmacgiollabhain) tweeted this information.
