has anyone seen this? https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=33752 not even sure this lad exists. there seems to be no other reference to him online. Unusual but I guess possible for someone who is probably still an u16.

As for Evan Ferguson, I don't think I would be too worried about it. They wouldn’t have rushed him for the sake of it. All kids are different. Trying to think of similar examples at a pro level. Ethan Ampadu was 15 when he made he debut a few years back, Jordon Ibe was 15. Aguero was 15 and 33 days when he played, so you could just be talking a few months difference there.
With the greatest respect to the league, it’s not the highest standard in the world, and there’s plenty of teenager in that squad along side him. I remember as a 14 year old, I totally changed, I went from 5’4 at 13 and a half to 5’11 by 14 and a half, and with that extra height I gained pace that I had never had. I was suddenly able to compete with adults, just with quick feet and a little burst of pace. Equally, my little cousin is a very good footballer. He’s 16 now. He’s not quite youth international level but at the highest level of underage football in Ireland and he played a few minutes in preseason friendlies at 14 and 15 for his side’s senior team, and it did wonders for his confidence. Now at 16 and a half, he started three preseason games before going back to his age level. He was man of the match for two of the games and he more than held his own.
There’s always a bit of guessing involved with every player at every age but all Bohs will be trying to do is put him at a level which matches his talent and challenges him.
It’s kind of the opposite argument kids playing for too long at 23s where they might stagnate.
From an emotional development perspective I think a big move to Liverpool or Spurs is a more difficult thing for a young person to deal with. Bohs are a semi-pro team. He’s not exactly going to be signing autographs or driving a flash car.

This confirms his eligibility for us:
The midfielder claims he was told by the Nigeria U17 coaches that he was not good enough because he could not play in the sun and that he was being stubborn for refusing to stay with the players at their hotel.

Well I think the issue is that he's a young child playing against adults. As physically developed as he is, there are issues in terms of the physical size of children's brains that can make them more susceptible to head injuries, for instance, and it's the same whether you're playing against Virgil van Dijk or Keith Cowan. Still, I think if the Bohs staff thought he was ready their judgement can be trusted.

An assist of sorts for Johansson in Bayern’s 4-0 u19 win this weekend. At 35 seconds:

What’s the reason for the hold up on clarification on Crowley and Ryan situation? Is it as simple as just more FAI incompetence? Or is is it expected to be this prolonged?

Could just as easily be the Luxembourg FA dragging their feet completing the transfer of allegiance, or the Swedish FA sticking their oar in.

Interesting one, this.
Conor Noß, pronounced Noss, came on for Borussia Mönchengladbach today against Athletic Bilbao, and is qualified to play for Ireland. He's a midfielder, and is only 18. Going by their website, he will play for their U23 side this season (see below), which includes the UEFA Youth League

Not a 2nd choice team at all, full of their stars. Arguably their strongest XI they have out there.
Unsurprisingly he didn't get on, but it's still a very promising sign!

Thank you. Very promising as you say. We have a tough 19s group for first round of qualifiers in November with Switzerland and Austria so would be good to have another attacking option with no parrott or idah likely to be involved you would imagine
That is really impressive alright. I had it in my head that he was a defender.

It’s a strong team. Four of the starting 11 played for Switzerland against us last month (Sommer, Zakaria, Elvedi, Embolo). Ginter and Kramer won the World Cup with Germany. Then there’s Lilian Thuram’s son who’s supposed to be a real talent and Florian Neuhaus who was excellent when Germany’s U21s beat us 6-0 a year ago in Tallaght. Plea is a French international who cost Borussia over £20m. The other two lads are seasoned internationals. Hermann on the bench is a good player too.
Very good sign for Conor. Although their captain is due back from a broken leg soon, so that might move him down the pecking order.
Looking forward to seeing him playing for the 19s. What I've seen and heard, he's more of an attacking midfielder than a striker but still.
I'd have Idah with the 19s in November along with Bazunu and Ledwidge. Plenty of players at 21s up top. Front three of Obafemi, Connolly and Parrott with Ronan behind and Afolabi off the bench. Plus, you call up someone else to the 21s who might deserve it – McAuley or Hale or whoever (Drinan, O’Connor, Grant, Keena, Mahdy, Reghba, Kayode).
Can’t think of any prolific strikers at 19s except for Ryan Cassidy who if I remember correctly had a bad injury towards the end of last season and is only back fit recently… Would be a much better squad with Idah there...

Noss will be the oldest player in the Under 19 squad if he's called up. He was born on January 1st, 2001, which is the cut off date for the 2020 under 19 championships

Nine players allowed on the bench in the Bundesliga, maybe something the EPL should consider as it would give opportunities to give younger players development game time in situations like this where the game is over as a contest by the hour mark.
We'd probably have seen the likes of Parrott and Kilkenny in the Premier League by now if nine were allowed in England.
No game time for Noss today unfortunately.

Ireland & Scotland. Was part of the England U17 side that won something a couple of years back.

Bit more here
Surprised there isn't more noise about his options, but maybe that tells its own story.
“It’s fantastic. Conor has been on stand-by for England before and he’s also had a couple of training sessions with Scotland when he was a bit younger and he qualifies for Ireland as well, but we were very pleased to find out he’d been called up by England for the World Cup. “I’m surprised his first call-up was for such a big tournament because I thought they would use the same players who got them there and in the European Championships.

Anyone know if Man City’s Thomas Doyle is eligible for us?
He’s an England youth international though looks to have hardly been involved for them at underage level — seemed to fit right in tonight for City vs Southampton & showed a good range of passing.
He is the grandson of Glyn Pardoe & Mike Doyle — who both played for Man City & England.
I imagine given his career trajectory and his family’s England connections he will be inclined to stick with them either way, but if I were involved with the FAI I’d make some calls because he looks quality.

I remember Mike Doyle and Pardoe playing for City in the 70,'s. Never recall Mike having any connections with Ireland. I think it would be a little over the top for the FAI to approach this lad

if the FAI get a negative on them, they should try get a rule change like Algeria did. A simple change in the wording of the rule to "citizen or entitled to citizenship", something to that effect. I can't image many associations would object to that...

I think England get a by/bye (sp?) to the elite stage, so they’re actually friendlies rather than qualifiers. Delap is injured which is why he is not involved. I suggest the FAI use the 4 months they have to get Barry, Riley and Delap passports, so we don’t end up with another Johansson / Crowley situation in a few years time
