Did it not turn out he was ineligible, or am I thinking of someone else? I think it was him.
Was that Taylor Gardner-Hickman?

Yes, the same thing happened with Gardner-Hickman, but that's not who I was thinking of. Pretty sure it was O'Reilly that was also one generation out.

Irish eligible Josh Key had a quietly impressive season for Swansea and has been linked with a move to Middlesbrough.

Louie Barry joins Sheffield United on loan. Not sure what that means for Tom Cannon

Barry is more of an inverted left winger, Cannon is a centre forward. There is some overlap, but they're not necessarily in direct competition.

Jack Moorhouse signed new 3 year contract with Man Utd before going on loan to Leyton Orient for the season.

I'm sure its been discussed on here before but according to wikipedia Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is eligible. Moved from Chelsea to Everton today and uncapped at any level so far.

Maybe Seamus can get into him and get him to declare.

Louis Barry starting wide left for Sheffield United tonight, quite a few reports in recent months that he's in the process of getting his Irish citizenship sorted.

Looked lively while he was on but Sheffield United taking a heavy beating at home. Ruben Selles seems a surprising choice of manager there, not sure what he has done to earn that job.

Dan McD mentions Louie Barry and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in his reports this week. For Barry he says he has heard promising reports second hand that he may be going with Ireland but he can't confirm it. For Dewsbury-Hall it sounds like he's a player of strong interest to the Irish management team but the answer to date from the player has been negative.

In the craziest story of today it looks like we've lost out on Denis Cirkin... to Azerbaijan

Jaysus. I can’t begin to understand how that’s his best career move… would be interesting to know more about the source of that intel too to be fair. Could be absolute boll0x

Looking through the Twitter thread his father is from there apparently

That link suggests he qualifies because his dad is from Hatay. Which is in Turkey.
So pinch of salt there, but not someone I see lining out for us in any event

To be fair to him, if he lines out for Azerbaijan he's likely doing it for the right reasons. Albeit he was born in Ireland he maybe has no real sense of connection to this country, having left at a young age.
Yeah, fair enough alright: Nationality-wise he seems a very complex individual!

Fair play to.him.for doing what is right for him. He played for England in Dublin against us at 17s and got sent off for fouling festy so he made his choice. Clearly no affection for us which is perfectly right as he left when very young and has no family ties.

First time hearing about this lad: https://www.irishstar.com/news/new-york-news/kevin-otoole-new-york-interview-32233294
Anyone know if he’s any good?

I dont mean to sound like a smart-arse or to sh!t on him but that interview has the bang of Joey Lapira off it. Knowing what I know about MLS, I cant see that a 25 year old with 34 MLS appearances and who visited last year for the first time since he was 3 years old is the answer to our problems (and i know that is not actually the question you asked)...

This made me look up Laprias "career". There's lads play DDSL that should be in contention for a call up considering Laprias one

Apparently, former international Joe O'Cearuill has a 14 year old son who is training with the Manchester United first team https://www.balls.ie/football/irish-qualified-14-year-old-jj-gabriel-to-train-with-manchester-united-first-team-638433

I knew there was an Irish connection but never would have made that connection - one day maybe it won't just be quizmasters looking for obscure call-ups who will be eternally grateful to Stan for capping Joe O'Cearuill after all! JJ Gabriel is extremely highly thought of at Man Utd (whatever that's worth these days). Too young to pin hopes on, but an interesting one to watch and hopefully, if he progresses, not lose Delap-style.

Dan McDonnell's weekly email today included this line
"There has been chatter about Everton’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall across the summer but I felt Hallgrimsson’s answer gave every indication that something was happening with the 27-year-old who qualifies via grandparents."
I'm not sure if it's a mistake because I thought previous reports had said the exact opposite to that.
