I find that disgraceful when the fans do that, I always feel ashamed, cause Celtic and Rangers are British clubs and nothing to do with Ireland in my opinion despite the creation, just because they setup by an Irish priest, does not make them Irish.I presume you can't see the irony in the post.
Neither it seems can Ally Ross with his 'he's lucky the Scots are such a polite people.' Laugh out f*cking loud! This the same 'polite people' where English 'immigrants' to rural areas have to leave having had their lives made a misery? Ross: You are truly my w*nker of the week. Maybe even the year. :D
GSpain and TheBoss: Let me explain my own views on the old firm. I couldn't give a f*ck about Celtic. I don't watch them and I don't look eagerly at the weekend for how they're doing. What I do take an interest in the old firm is their rivals, a club that is anti-Irish catholic from the chairman to the dirty latrine he sh*ts in. Would you blame a player like Paulo Di Canio, Siniša Mihajlović, both fascists of Lazio or Raul or Salgado, who both posed with neo-nazi flags for a neo-nazi fanzine, visiting Israel and getting grief because of their views? Probably not. Well you can't expect the Irish to applaud someone who's made money from a club with such an anti-Irish history.
I think if either of you think the 'Famine Song' is some sort of harmless fun that doesn't concern us then I think you need your heads examined.

Wonder how Ross would have reacted had English-born Scots internationals like Speedie, Rioch et al been subjected to racist abuse by English supporters. And when were English born Irish internationals (Aldridge,Lawrenson, Townsend etc,) ever abused by English supporters? Like it or not the problem here lies with the anti-Irish bigotry that still exists in some of the darker corners of Scottish society and alas Scottish journalism.

Maybe its just me but I find this famine song more pathetic than offensive. I dont have any recollection of the famine and it doesnt rekindle memories of any family trauma's and I'm just bewildered by these fans who spend time dredging through history to find something obnoxious to sing about and seem completely oblivious to the fact that their clubs are actually multi national businesses now rather than tradition based.

Scots aren't the most 'polite' people. Interesting article here, not football related, but still interesting.

Lads don't worry about the in-bred Scots, let me explain in the now famous words written by a Scot, a bit tongue in cheek but lots of truth here, ( could also apply to us  )
"I hate being Scottish. We're the lowest of the f*cking low, the scum of the earth, the most wretched, servile, miserable, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilization. Some people hate the English, but I don't. They're just w*nkers. We, on the other hand, are colonized by w*nkers. We can't even pick a decent culture to be colonized by. We are ruled by effete arseh*les. It's a sh1te state of affairs and all the fresh air in the world will not make any f*cking difference."

Anyone read reacently about the young Scot - incidentally with a surname of Ross - who was convicted of killing an Asian while a teenager, fourteen years after he'd done it? Now there are racist murderers in Ireland, but this one caught with a notebook with swastikas besides slogans like 'Kill the English'. Guess what he did when he grew up? Joined the British Army? You couldn't make it up.

My message to Ross and the other imbeciles is simple: Show us your passport and let's see if your 'country's' mentioned on the cover.

that falkirk goal was a good combination of headers. Hamilton is taller than I thought he was, he looks to have a physical presence about him.

Any explanation as to why he wasn't called up? Given the recent issues with the Scottish FA trying to poach him this should be a priority. I'm amazed at this.

If I had to guess, I'd imagine his recent press release that he's only going to play for Ireland meant Trap didn't think it was necessary to call him into the squad just to cap him. He's unlikely to play in the qualifiers, and from the squad it's obvious he only wants to take a players he thinks can supplement his preferred starting XI

I think its far from obvious that a load of deadbeats and reserves are ever going to supplement our starting 11.

Accie's boss Billy Reid seems happy enough that he wasn't picked for the senior squad, but is concerned about burn-out with McCarthy.

McCarthy cant have been happy about not been drafted in. According to this article many family members had already booked flights to Dublin in anticipation of him being called up. Also theres a rumour that Trap might see some sense and at least invite him to train

He looked pretty industrious today in Hamilton's defeat to Celtic. Performed well for a team playing with 10 men against superior opposition. He still looks rough around the edges but he seems quite clever, likes to get stuck in and seems to have decent ball retention. He's only passed his 18th birthday and still has plenty of development potential. If only he could step up to a better SPL club like Hibs or Dundee United rather than eventually being snapped up by the Old Firm or an EPL club and fading out of first team football.

Or even a team that beat Dundee United this season desoite being the worst team in their league.

I heard Des Cahill talking to a Scottish sports reporter on the radio yesterday evening about McCarthy and he was saying that McCarthy is getting even greater stick than McGeady for declaring for Ireland, including stuff at his home and that needless to say the Rangers' fans gave him a very tough time everytime he touched the ball

Two goals for McCarthy today in the 2-0 win over Motherwell.
Hamilton Accies manager Billy Reid:
"Today we've crowned it - and young McCarthy, what more can you say about him? What a player. He deserved his goals."
"His progression the last couple of years has been staggering. He played here at 15 years old and then we knew we had something special.
"Now he's doing it at Premier League level and that's the highest level you can do it in Scotland."

Yeah I know. Being Irish is'nt technically a race but whatever. I am dissapointed in the Scots however. The only Scots I know are the guys in Trainspotting, some of which turned out to be from here and not Scots at all, and the guy from star trek, who's ashes were launched into space. Whenever I visit Ireland I ask my cousins if they want to go to Scotland, and they have good jobs and travel all over the world, and are in their 40s, and none of them have ever even been to Scotland. Ewan McGreagor says they were colonized by *******. Oh, and I was surprised to learn Annie Lennox was Scottish, I like her. Also, Axl Rose used to wear a cute little Scottish skirt on stage but he is crazy so who knows what the deal is. Scots. Please.

Two well taken goals by McCarthy.
The Gerrard comparisons would seem to be spot on at this stage.
He's playing a similar role (behind the main striker), and looked quite a player this weekend.
Did some nice set-ups as well which better teammates might have taken advantage of.

Ya I read that alrite. Also in http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_4686529,00.html
To be honest I would love to see him moving on in January. I feel at 18 and with nearly 80 appearances under his belt with Hamilton, it's time to move his development onto the next level. I also feel that Hamilton will sell if the price is right because McCarthy's stock will be very high in Jan (considering his current form) and could be risky to wait until they get relegated in the summer (when McCarthys stock mighnt be as high) and are forced to start selling players on the cheap to balance the books. It is inevitable that he going to move clubs, the only question is will it be in January or next summer
