Higgsy coming back to replace Reynolds

I really do hope that is true.

I can't see Higgsy coming back.

We have rejected two offers for McGinn and also an offer for Farren.

At least one ex LOI player in England has touted himself to us.

Exactly. I love to be reminded of these times where Martyn played in a three man midfield?

You're watching a different Derry City to me.

Martyn did nothing this year, and nothing last year when he came back from Norway.

Fenlon is guilty of many things, but Ciaran Martyn losing interest isn't one of them.

He hasnt done a thing since Gretna away, badly need to get him odd the
wage bill, wasting money on him badly

Sligo Rovers star full back Seamus Coleman appears to be on the verge of a move to second placed Championship side Birmingham City. The English club have made a six figure offer to Sligo Rovers and the club have given the player permission to speak to the Birmingham management.
The young Donegal born player is at St Andrews this week and will train with the first team on Thursday.
Any deal will involve add on clauses in relation to league appearances and international caps.
Glasgow Celtic are reported to be monitoring the situation also. It is expected that that a decision on a transfer will be made inside the next 2 weeks although the player cannot officially move until January the 1st.From here. Billy Clarke as in the Ipswich player on loan at Darlington? More chance of Kilkenny City returning to the First Division than him coming back to Ireland

Actually Jim Magilton has said that Billy clarke does not feature in his plans, his loan is up at xmas for darlington and his contract is up at end of season at Ipswich so chances are that he could end up back here!

How are Cork signing all these players?
Current players have taken pay cuts(large ones) and we only have 7 players under contract at the moment.

Its certainly not a sugar daddy pumping money in. Money in =money out

Are they actually going to be allowed play Premier football next season?
If the deadline is in fact 31st of january(the rule confuses me) then I dont see why not.

we apparently have contacted all players about the payments they are owed.

Disgrace.

How so?

CSFShels
04/12/2008, 11:45 AM
It has been fairly well reported that the deadline was November 30th, Cork can claim they weren't aware all they want, but theres not a hope that this is true. If a decent proportion of fans know this, then theres no excuse for the head of a board not knowing it.

And it'd be a disgrace, because there are no point in having such rules if they aren't going to be implemented.

Ps. Sorry for going off-topic.

It's not Nov 30th, read the rule book. If debts are cleared or agreed by Jan 31st, then club meets the licensing criteria. Fact.

You can prove anything with facts.

License agreement rule states, quote: "The licence applicant must prove that... it has no payables overdue towards employees or Revenue/social/tax authorities as at November 30 of the year preceding the season to be licensed unless by the following January 31 they have been fully settled, deferred by mutual agreement with the creditor or are subject to a not obviously unsound dispute submitted to a competent authority."

I just wish people would read the rules themselves before assuming they know what they're on about.

Please read the rule.

Apart from the fact that it contradicts itself, it specifically mentions having people paid by January 31st if they're not paid by Nov 30th. Most people seem to think this means a deal has to be in place by Nov 30th, which it was.

Big money in the V- League. It's full of African and Brazilian players. Seriously corrupt though, half the country's referees have been jailed. A fair few players have been done for match fixing too. An ex Pat's player should fit right in!

At the moment Cork players have received about two thirds of what it owed.

Backroom staff have however been shafted. Offered less than 10% so of what is owed. If they sign any players before they get paid Matthews will be a staff of one in the dugout next season

micls
04/12/2008, 4:03 PM
All our backroom staff got the same afaik, same as other creditors. A lot of them are happy to write off the money(or were a while back when I spoke to them) as most are city fans(in the office anyway).

Its unfortunate but the same happened to the other creditors. They got screwed.

Players will get their money cos they have to for us to get a license.

A Longford fan was telling me Freimanis is class. Mathews sent him up there when we went into examinership, knowing he could bring him back down once we were out.

Apparently he's down here now anyway. And I know its a dangerous game to judge him on a YouTube video but looks promising. Certainly better than playing Darren Murphy right wing, he's a centre mid through and through.

Not dismissing the player but anyone can look class in friendlies. Brian Morris-Roe was the best player in the country in friendlies...
