Alex Williams, 26 year old Glaswegian, ex Ayr Utd (23 goals in last two seasons) likely to be one of several new faces at Oriel Park.
Goalkeeper Paul Murphy, rumoured above to be rejoining Dundalk from Newry City, has joined Lisburn Distillery on a months long loan deal
According to local paper, Dundalk Argus, Sean Connor has confirmed a 3 July signings, previously anticipated -
Alex Williams - striker (Ayr Utd)
Paul McAreavery - midfield (Linfield)
Michael Collins - midfield (Newry City)
He also confirmed previously stated intention to re-sign former Dundalk forward David Ward on amateur forms from local MDL side Rock Celtic. Ward played and scored in recent friendly against Distillery, and also did well in pre-season games.
An additional signing, a goalkeeper, is expected to follow.

Is that because of his penchant for not finding the target, or because of his resemblance to a thin lady?
Not finding the target;)

Possibly going to Denmark? (by the way I don't actually know, just putting it out there, Linfield do normally go to a European game a week or so before the game)

Yes but there are airports in Dublin ;)
Incidently he isn't going to Denmark yet as he was at Windsor concluding a transfer deal.

I’d rather have our lack of european successes and being in a good financial situation, than pay outrageous amounts of money to get past a round or two and then go bust or close to it.
I am truly envious.
Although I doubt any team in the LOI would have fared any better against the teams we have drawn in the last few years (Gorica, Elfsborg & Dinamo Zagreb and then Randers this year)

You have a point on not spending stupid money to get through one round, but I'm sure Dodge will point out that Pat's knocked Elfsborg out last year, having beaten youz the year before. Similarly, youz lost to Zagreb while Shels knocked out Hadjuk (same league at least)

It was posted on the Cork City forum that we have 2 loan players lined up
Blackburn striker Andy Howarth 21 and another 18 year old who has been released from Barnsley have been lined up as July additions to the City squad on Loan basis.
Goalscorer Howarth has played for Blackburn first team it appears....not sure if in Premiership, Cup or indeed as sub.
However according to my source in UK plans have come unstuck in last few days The word is TNB or City have baulked at financial package involved...watch this space

Meanwhile Shelbourne are in the 1st division and St Pats are hardly doing great financially.
Linfield on the other hand.............. ;)

ALEX Williams has been freed from his contract at Somerset Park after coming to a mutual agreement with the club.
Williams, who was United's top scorer two seasons ago, had seen his first team chances restricted during the recent promotion campaign
Not a great signing then.

Why? Because he was Ayr top scorer in 2008 or because of recent restricted appearences?
He certainly has a good career goal scoring record with 2 goals every 5 games since his debut 10 years ago as a 16 year old.
Time will tell, although he showed plenty of skill and pace in his recent scoring debut in the friendly against Lisburn Distillery.

He's a forward. 19yo, quite a good player. Good signing for you as a squad player definitely.

Hajduk were a shadow team whose players were on the town until 4am the night before the game, but Dinamo had the pick of top players and millions in the bank. FInanial restraint is fine, but success in Europe is the only way to get the event junkies interested (see Real Madrid).
Any truth in George O'Callaghan heading to Malta?

In fairness guys, a motivated Georgie would stroll into any club in Ireland! From the locals he's been dry and working hard since Dundalk. He deserves a chance and good luck to him!

Linfield on the other hand don't have to worry about money like every other club both north or south. You see Linfield are bank rolled by the IFA. It gives Linfield an unfair advantage over the other clubs in the IL, but why change a winning policy. After all, it's part of IL tradition.

No, I'm not ashamed to say that we are obviously an inferior side to Randers and unless we play above ourselves and they play less than well, we wont get a result.

Won 2-0. Not a great crowd though, just over 700. Glens were awful (and apparently drinking before the match).
Great atmosphere between the two sets of fans though. We even ended up playing 'The Sash' on our drums. It was a bit surreal.

In the dozen or so games Georgie played with Dundalk, he never reached the heights that he has scaled in the past; but it was clear to a blind man that the skill and talent remains - fitness, motivation and attitude are the attributes missing.
Anyone who has a semblance of understanding about the cancer of addiction will empathise with the personal difficulties he has enduring in the last few months.
I hope for Georgies sake, that he can find the environment that will allow his gifts to flourish again.
Good luck Georgie!
