Can anyone answer this for me?
If a player signs for a LOI Club from a Junior Club as a Pro Player on a pro contract , is that club entitled to receive a fee for the player, and also is does the player have to receive a release from the Junior Club prior to signing ? ( I'm Sure he needs a release but just checking)

Finally where would be the best place to source players (free agents) to play Junior Soccer , upon signing each player would be guarnteed a job with club sponsor. Still Amateur but job provided to suitable candidates. (Is this allowed ?)
Was thinking to advertise in east european newspapers , but maybe some Irish talent out there especially with current economic situation ?

Any ideas ?

i know when adrian murphy signed for us he had to seek release from camlin utd before he could join us.. in transfer news today ex sligo rovers, finn harps and shels mark hutchison played on trial with us today.. no sign of ray kenny at all assume hes not comin to us..

Stephen O'Donnell strongly linked with Dundalk after Bohs decided not to offer him a new contract.

Also, Gareth O'Connor is in Spain with Bohs at the moment and is looking to earn a contract for the upcoming season.

Against an attack which consisted of a Junior Player playing his first game at LoI level and a Centre Half...............

Would want another look or two at him if I was your boss. :)

I think the post should have really said

" Shane Guthrie played a friendly with GUFC, hopefully we will sign him and have 1 CB in our squad !!!" :)

Hopefully. Hasn't really played to his potential for the last few years so he would be a good signing. Having said that 2-3 defenders are our priority and a striker. But i would still take Bobby now though

Ian Bermingham and Joxer Kelly on trial at Drogheda according to eleven-a-side.

I wouldn't have thought Kelly would need a trial?

Ian Bermingham - along with Brian King & Dean Lawrence - is on trial with Stockport County.

They're playing this afternoon in a reserves game Vs Man Utd.

Wonder if (Irish player)Dicker and (Irish manager)Gannon had any hand in that? Seems to be an amazing amount of cronyism in lower level football.

Gannon knows the league and has one or two other ex LoI players on the books.

Dicker's a first team regular, so you can't blame him for trying out other similar players.

Don't think Dicker ever played with King or Bermingham at UCD. Dicker left at the end of '06, and I think the other two came in at the start of '07.

Mind the time all those Dutch players played at AC Milan back in the nineties.

You know what I mean, though? The likes of Chris Turner getting trials in England due to an ex-NI coach being boss, and so forth.

Yeah, but it's nothing major. It's like me signing all the same players each time I start a new game of CM. You go with what you know. It'd only be cronyism if they got contracts they didn't deserve.

I think its a postive that a manager (at that level) would give a trial to anyone. What have they to lose?

Also expect to see Shane Barrett re-signing for Drogheda and also Forsyth to follow. Reliable source up in Drogheda told me that both players weren't actually signed on paper and Mathews snuck in to prize them away. Will be unveiled by the weekend according to my mate.

Had a weird feeling that was what happened.

Yeah looks that way when there was no specific reason given as to why they weren't signing. Wouldn't surprise me to see one or two other players supposedly gone elsewhere rock up at United Park either. Most lads would take Premier Division football over First Division and I'd say the money wouldn't be much different to what Shels are offering, if not better. Plus Mathews actually personally knows a huge amount of players in the greater Dublin area through one thing and another.

Suspected as much but surprised Mathews would do the dirt, as it were, on his good pal Keely.

Well it happened in reverse when James Chambers had agreed to come to LTFC and shaken hands on a deal after doing pre-season with us in 2007 and Keely called out to his parents' house the next day and signed him up on a contract for Shels. Didn't affect their relationship then, all's fair when you're scrambling for players, they've both been around a long time!.
