Rumours of Georgescu coming back to Shels til the end of the season, aswell as Mark Hughes on loan from Bohs.

Is Georgescu any good?

He was always good for a few goals in the Premier for us. He was frozen out of the Bray team under Eddie.

Rumour on our forum is McHugh has been offered to Dundalk.

I wanted to emphasize the word 'rumour' as it only came from one person so far

He may well have been offered, but I doubt anything will come of it.

With new signing Alex Williams added to Mansaram, Fabio, Mulvenna, and Rowe, theres no space for anymore strikers. If Connor makes room (Fabio to Pats rumour still persists) he is more likely to take in right and left sided midfielders/wingers, goalkeeper and/or left back before another striker

A lot of those were sub appearances. I'd be interested in seeing stats for his first season with Bray which was pretty good I think.

He wasn't fully fit during his last season and he also had trouble with Gormley meaning he was on the bench a lot when he was fit. Afaik, he was our top scorer in 2006 and he scored some valuable goals over the years.

There's no doubt that he has ability and he can do a good job, he just got a bit of a tough deal under Gormley.

Does anyone know the situation with Graham Carey loan deal. When does it expire? Is there any suggestions that it will be renewed?

SkStu

From today's Sun:

PAT FENLON hopes Graham Carey accepts a new deal at Celtic - so that he can rejoin Bohs.

Carey's loan spell at Dalymount Park ended after Friday's 3-1 win over Bray Wanderers.

And the only way Carey will play for the double winners again is if he signs an extension with the Bhoys and returns on loan.

Demand

As Carey is under 23, Celtic would be entitled to compensation if he rejects their contract offer.

But the Phibsborough club cannot afford the 60,000 fee that the Celts are likely to demand.

Carey has been offered a 12-month extension to his contract by the Scottish giants but has yet to accept it.

Should Carey return, he will not play in the Champions League clash with Red Bull Salzburg as the deadline for registering players for the first round passed last night. Bohs boss Pat Fenlon said: "They're saying they'd be looking for compensation, so unless he comes to an agreement with Celtic, it rules us out as we don't have money to pay for players.

It would be £40,000 or £50,000. Even if it was £4,000 or £5,000, it would still be out of the question.

"There's not a lot I can do about it, it's Graham's choice now.

"I think he's happy enough here, playing every week which he hadn't been doing at Celtic and mightn't want to go back into that again. He's had a little taste of first-team football here but it's a difficult decision for him."

Carey, 21, has admitted that staying at Bohs until the end of the League of Ireland season in November appeals to him.

But he has ruled out following Celtic reserve team boss Willie McStay to FC Upjest.

Yet the Ireland Under-21 international is also adamant that he will not commit to a longer stay at Celtic if his chances of a first-team breakthrough do not improve.

Carey said: "If offers come in I'd have to look at it.

"Going to Hungary wouldn't really interest me, it's a long way from home.

"If I sign for Celtic, then I'm definitely coming back here on loan.

"I don't know whether I'm signing there yet. I'll probably know at the start of the week.

Bench

"Last year I wasn't really happy with the amount of players in the whole squad.

"I was barely getting on the bench for the reserves.

"They haven't got rid of players either. If I go back over I'll probably be in the same boat.

"Then again, a new manager has come in at Celtic so I could impress him.

"So it's in the balance and I don't really know what I want to do yet."

I'm confused with aspects of this Sun article about Graham Carey.

The clear implication here is that if accepts Celtic's contract offer, and Celtic are agreeable, he will return to Bohs on loan for the rest of the season.

How does this square up with the transfer embargo?

Is there any practical difference between a club signing a player on loan from another club, and signing a player on a short term contract?

Depends on the wage agreement. Celtic could be paying a percentage of his wages.

You'd imagine they'd have to pay all his wages if Bohs can't sign players. I assume they're allowed sign players if they don't have to pay them, amateurs for example.

I doubt this will be allowed though as then they could go around the whole embargo, get "big" players in on amateur terms and thus those players could go on the dole or seek workers allowance and thus as the players are playing week in week out for a big club in Ireland the revenue will cop on and both Bohs and the players will be in the doghouse...LET BOHS DO THIS!!

Loaning club pay full wages. Receiving club gives him first team football. Obviously agreeable to both sides.

And no he cannot claim the dole as he is emploiyed by Celtic FC !!

No issue with 65% rule there I as no wage expense to Bohs.

I was refering to the question asked if he was released then could Bohs sign him on amateur terms with them having a transfer embargo placed on them!

Why would 'big' players sign for dole money? Do you mean that they would be paying him under the table? If they want to go down that road, they could avoid the whole 65% rule without complicating things to that extent.

Isn't that exactly what they are doing? (Allegedly). Massive increases in underage coaching and the likes. Sign him as an amateur and pay him to coach.

Amateurs can sign outside the transfer window I think, so there's exceptions there anyways. It'd be a bit harsh, for example, for Bohs to have to sell half their squad and still not be able to sign anyone to replace them for free.

Bohs will (as will every other team in the League) be signing a full squad of under 20's on amateur forms. These lads they sign for the 20's can play in the first team if Fenlon see's fit, as is the case at all clubs.
So if you can sign under 20's on amateur forms then why not older players?

Yes you can, we re-signed an ex striker of ours David Ward on amateur terms there last week from Meath & District League side Rock Celtic(who are based in Dundalk). My point whoever is, why shoudl you be allowed sign anyone, even if on amateur terms if there is a transfer embargo placed on the club. A Transfer embargo means coaches, players and backroom staff so if they sign players like this and then make up their wage difference in coaching then isnt that still going against rules? Several clubs in Engalnd had embargos placed on them last seasona and that meant they could not sign backroom staff as well as players, they couldnt even take in loanees!I think one is Chester City if memory serves me right!

So if they place the embargo on Bohs and they can't then enter an under 20 side for this season, are they going to clamp down on them on licencing for next season? (you must have 2 teams between the ages of 18 and 21 representing your club during the season)

Was in the Mirror Newspaper yesterday(so it must be true:rolleyes:) that Middlesborogh,Stoke and Sunderland scouts were in Terryland last Friday looking at Jay O'Shea. He is NOT premiership standard but if a club is willing to part with 6 figures for him then they are welcome to him.
