Dunno if this is a "transfer" as such, but Jeff Kenna set to be appointed our new gaffer. Interview was held last Monday with him, plans being finalised ATM and he's flying back over.
In the paper today says he's prepared to live down here full-time if he signs, which is essential and hopefully true.
I've heard that before.

If Darren Quigley can get back to where he was before his Derry move then that's a fantastic signing.
were did you get that he was doing bad with us
typical UCD bull****,
He is a very good keeper, did really well anytime he got on, just unlucky
with injuries and competing with a keeper on form with more experience,
very few clubs in ireland i wouldnt see him first choice.

i think thats his point, thats how i took it anyway. quigley was unlucky to get injured so early on and then unlucky again for doherty to have a great season. would have liked to see him stay, but costs and the desire for first team football, c'est la vie.

he is only going on loan, so i assume iof we get in **** he will be
called back, so best for us, and Quigley, and Dundalk get a cracker
keeper for a season. Good move all round.
as for what was meant by poor_student, everything he posts on here about
any decent size club in ireland is bitterness, so i just automatically assume it.

Like ourselves at Sligo Rovers you will only fully realise just how much the first division is ignored by everyone when you get back in the premier division and all the extra coverage really makes the season all the more enjoyable.
And I for one hope ye are back to stay because Irish soccer needs clubs like Dundalk in its top division.

Thanks, Gary, hysterical reaction overreaction to an innocuous post. I was referring to the fact that Quigley's progress came to an unfortunate halt with his injury and it would be nice to see him play regular football again. Care to reference any of my bitter posts?

Apparantley it looks like they will survive. Speaking to a current player during the week and he says they will be around next season. Doolin has definately gone though

Not too sure but Stephen Kenny said in today's Derry Journal that he would be with Sligo on loan for the season, with McDaid at Harps for the season

He's not going to be a starting 11 player IMO. Only signed as cover for Peers and Almeida i'd say.

I don't know, I think he's highly rated in Derry, they reckon he has bags of ability. I suppose Sligo will find out soon enough.
He recently signed a new contract, so Kenny obviously see's the potential in him. He needs to fill out abit IMO though to be a centre-half

McDaid will do a good job in the First Division. He was alright with us and up against lower opposition in the First, he should do well.

not sure if he would be suited to the type of football though, he's a bit small. Obviously there's a lot of hoofing in the prem division as well but not quite as much. Looks a good prospect all the same.

I'd have him back here next season if I could. Was very impressed by the lad.

He is a big enough lad for his age but he is very one paced, Ive seen him a number of times playing for the reserves. He has a knack of being in the right places at right time for tap ins etc but Im not convinced. Wish him well but just cant see it. He will never be centre half perhaps full back our midfielder.
By the way I really like Peers/Almeida partnership:ball:

You can never say never but our Board are not a reckless bunch! The club is running in profit, not including prize money and our owner is always there to take up any slack, for example, the 50k to upgrade the pitch. With a Youth Development Centre due in 2009 additional income streams available. The genesis of a niffty enough side on the way if even half of unconfirmed signings turn out to be true...the cycle of football eh!

Quote from Dunny: "Do you rate him ?"
Well he had a great season in 2007 but something went wrong along the lines for 2008, only scored once. I would give him a few games before I could rate him again.
