Ideal situation in Wexford IMO would be sign in your outsiders and sprinkle them with locals who are good enough (like Sinnott and.......... erm, sorry :p) play that team in Division 1 while using the A Championship as a breeding ground for local talent.
3500-4000 a week should be a definite playoff spot this year.
Just my two cents anyway. :)
question is where does 3500 - 4000 come from???
honestly do not believe at the moment we have internal club structure to support paying wages in terms of generating revenue
Why not enter the A Championship aswell??
Had a lot of benefits for us last year in some ways.
It should be something the club could at least look at IMO. If then are bringing in more outside players and under 20 is turning into under 19 losing places to develop players. But not for 1-2 years maybe as a lot of players still do qualify for u19 and do not want player burn out either

If the whole developing local talent thingy is gone out the window why don't you go after more players??
Local paper today has described Peter White as a native of Wexford. Didn't know that:)

We are linked with Weymouth midfielder James Coutts, who has been let go along with half their squad following a financial meltdown at the club

Our team tonight against Monaghan was basically all trialists except for 3 or 4 players. Those on Trial include Aaron Shanahan, James Tandy from Man City, Ciran McGuigan, Kevin Graydon from Sunderland, Michale McGinlay, "Aussie" Josh Maguire, Sean Mackle, Alan Reilly, Alan Griffin and Coco Mulvein(think he might be a youth player)

Coco Mulvein is Conal Mulvenna, Tiernans Younger Bro, he's with the youths.
Tandy hasnt been with City since the Joey Barton Fiasco, and would the Graydon be a Keith Graydon that played with Sunderland a few Years back??..He's a Dub but i don't think he's there anymore either!..

I havnt a clue flawless to tell you the truth, only one iknow of is Alan Reilly and Josh Maguire!Keith Graydon looked good, controlled the midfield! Was very surprised with the team to be honest! Rumour was that Monaghan players where told to kick lumps outa our "STARS" so Connor didnt take any of the big guns!

That is such bull. Our team were only out for one thing, to get a good pre-season friendly under their belt. When will the paranoia stop??

Drogs had Graydon on trial for the shels match. Wasn't up to scratch i don't think. Reilly also asked to come back but he must have been told no. Shanahan's a decent keeper, could do a lot worse.

Iv always liked Shanahan, he was excellent cover when Beno wasnt in the squad, much better keeper than gallagher, sure the chap played the whole second half against Fingal last year in a one all draw with a damaged knee, thats how much he wants to play, excellent shot stopper like Beno.

neill gallagher was in bray on friday. Rumours are that Ger Rowe is signing for Dundalk as he is a free agent.
Where did you hear about Ger Rowe? Never heard about that. As if we need another striker.

I had heard that Ger Rowe had been offered a contrat in Vietnam. Very good money over there, if the numbers are right.

As an aside, the whole Russian roulette thing is a Hollywood fabrication. Nobody who was there ever saw or heard of it happening.

To sign him once is careless, twice is just stupidity.

We're trying to build a team of ex Derry players , only 4 more and we've got the full XI

apologies in advance from all involved in Cobh Rambers :o
I heard Ciaran Foley was coming home from Oz and might be re-joining us(Galway Utd) in the next month or 2.If its true i dont think he has to wait till July as not contracted to anyone.

Thats a very good signing for Athlone. Would have thought he'd been a level or 2 above Athlone to be honest, so fair play.

didnt Ciaran return from Austrailia last February and say that he was retiring from the game ?

Plenty of positive things happening down here under Brendan Place this season. Couple of more quality players being approached as well for signing.

Hopefully thats the correct version of events. Having one junior midfielder on the team like we do at the moment is more than enough.

He definitely has ability but he's very up and down. He was outstanding for us when he was on loan from Shels, then when signed permanently he wasn't quite the same, only showed a few flashes of what had impressed so much.
He went to Rovers in 2007, afaik, and can't remember how he did there. Think he scored on his debut for them though.
Word is that Micheal Funston has left Harps having had enough of the current management.

where is he going to mr a? Ye are lucky that ourselves, monaghan and kildare county are doing worse than ye this year.. Its a big turnaround from when ye beat us one nil at home earlier in the season...

Always impressed me whenever he played at Dalymount. Do Harps fans reckon he's capable of being a good Premier Division player?
Yeah, i think so. Fantastic engine and attitude but not always the best on the ball. Hopefully we'll see Hegarty leave and Funston back in Blue.

Not really, we were p!sh then too. Sure it took to the last minute to get an equaliser against Kildare the week before we played ye and last minute equaliser against Mervue the week after.
Funston has been our best player for some time now, he has played at left back, right back, left mid, right mid and up front at times but his best position is centre mid, as A said, his workrate is top notch and he could easily play at Premier level.
Pity Hegarty never saw that, unless he is from Derry he will get the blame for poor team performances.
Liam Miller has been training with City for the last few days, but he's not signing.According to Doolin he's just keeping fit for the Ireland Friendly against Nigeria at the end of the month.

Few rumours from News of World today
Shamrock Rovers interested in Graham Gartland and Graham Barrett. I doubt Gartland would come back after getting promoted to SPL. Barrett have heard very little about lately, he's a Tallaght lad though If memory serves me right
Jay O'Shea to MK Dons - Think he's probably better than League 1, but might be a good level for him to go in at.

Nonsense reports based on the fact that they're both from Tallaght. Gartland just signed an extension with St. Johnstone.
