Kavanagh deal is supposedly a pre-contract agreement, which would imply he has to be a free agent. And he's 23, so no development fee.
Bohs rumour mill hitting overload? :p

23 and under gets you a development fee. Or at least it did with us for Dave Mooney when he was 23.
Actually most think its a very good signing (regardless of any outlay) and a sign of Rovers intent. There was a suggestion of a fee involved which i was questioning. Maybe some Shams fan or Bray fan can shed some light for sure?

Hmm.
He's 24 in December according to wiki. I wonder would that get them out of it?
Very good player though.

I'd imagine that'd get them out of it alright. The contract would only take effect from January or whatever. In Mooney's case he wasn't 24 until the following October I think.

I meant to post this up the other night but I got drunk and forgot til now! I heard a romour going round Oriel that Aaron Shanahan is on his way back to oriel cause hes not getting games with Athlone and we now need a back up keeper. Aarons an exellent keeper and I really cant believe that Athlone have been playing McGuinness ahead of him. Can any Athlone fans shed some light on this, is he still with ye?

I know that Alex O'Reilly is the first choice for athlone now with mcguinness as no 2 it would explain why shanahan is out in the cold?

Done deal now, Seamus Sharkey, great signing I have been a fan of this lad for a while now. Really surprised he has not played more games for Derry first team. He had an outstanding game tonight marking Jon Stead of Ipswich.

Conor set to add two more to his squad
Published Date: 08 July 2009
By Gavin McLaughlin
DUNDALK have been handed a massive boost ahead of their televised clash with Bohemians on Friday night after Sean Connor revealed that he has been given the green light from the club's board to add to his squad.
To be fair, the board were superb at the meeting on Monday night, he said.
I'm sure we'll announce some signings before Friday but I can certainly bring in two more. It's nice knowing that I have players on the bench who can come on and influence a game. That is something I have wanted from day one, he added.
Connor was remaining tight lipped about who he would bring in but former Linfield midfielder Paul McAreavey, goalkeeper Peter Cherrie and defender Michael McGowan - who all played in the friendly against Lisburn two weeks ago - are the obvious players in the frame. The manager is still hopeful of bringing in more bodies before the end of the transfer window although he conceded that players would probably have to leave for that to happen.
I still would like to bring in three more. We've had a couple of inquiries about players going out on loan to free a bit of room in the squad so we will just wait and see what happens.

Aye can't wait to see him play for us again. His fitness is probably in question now though, so we might have to wait for a bit.

Owen Morrison is supposed to have put in a transfer request while Sean Doherty and Brian Cash are supposed to be gone. None of this confirmed, only rumours for now.

What about - Owen Morrison switch with Liam Burns? Dundalk short on natural wingers, Sligo fans fawning for Burns
The well founded speculation that Dundalk are on the verge of signing defender Michael McGowan gives some credence to the possible availability of Burns (who has been revitalised in recent games against Derry and Cork)

What would Dundalk do with a winger? Connor would even be confused by that.

Scully played for us a few years ago, another mate of cronin's i think. He's very small but works hard. Plays centre mid afaik, played a few at full back i think too.

hows that e13,000 a week budget looking for Dundalk these days? Connor is like Jesus - give him 13k a week and watch him turn it magically into 30k...

Are you serious, Morrison is awful, he was awful against us on both occasions this season and Heary and Burns are rock solid the last few games.

I think Morrison is very skilfull if inconsistent. I don't believe for a moment that Burns is going anywhere, but it is fun to give the Sligo fans some false hope in these challenging times!

€12,500 was the stated weekly budget at the start of the season.
Since then O'Callaghan, Singh and Rogers have gone. In have come Rowe, Wlliams and now Cherrie (Collins was in the orginal budget).
Technical Jimmy Brown, now manager at Lisburn Distillery, also off wage bill.
Michael McGowan and Paul McAreavey are anticipated as further signings - overall very little change in the budget over the season.
Wage bill, while well within the 65% cap, is considerable compared to many in the league, but miniscule compared to Bohemians near €50k!

Guy Bates
absolutely fant bloddly tastic
I heard the news last night - over the moon. He had a big hand in bringing the league to us (on top of his winning goal against cork).
After we won the league I put money on him being th eleagues top goal scorer the following year (then Doolin dropped him  ). I have serious respect for his ability.
Always felt that Mathews would keep us up but this is a massive boost.
Staying up staying up staying up
And Brenden McGill has joined us - a decent player from the little I know about him.
McGill's a nice little player. He should do very well for you. Good signing.

I wouldn't bother defending or explaining our weekly budget to any Bohz fan if I was you.
I think from now on if any Bohz fan tries to question or lecture us or anyone about wage bills/finances etc we should just reply with a few of these :o:D

I like Guy Bates a lot as a player (he's a bit like Fabio pre-injury), but if he was taking the p1ss in a league-winning side, what are the odds on his knuckling down for a relegation dogfight?

For something crazy like that to happen Alan Matthews would have to be a better man-manager than Paul Doolin, NO CHANCE!!!!

Ray Scully was with us a few years back when we were pushing for promotion. He was a big prospect then, but a few injuries and bad moves meant he never realised that potential. A decent First Division player though, and a useful addition to Longfords squad.
Kildare have signed David Lee (Former Mons, Longford) amongst a few others. So many new players it's hard to keep track!
