Ian Bermingham of UCD got a run out for us in a friendly tonight against Phoenix FC. Possibility of him joining us with O'Brien gone. We won 2 - 0 by the way , Robinson & Purcell.

Any further word on Paddy Kavanagh to Derry?

Bray looking silly money from what I hear.

DCFC have a few irons in the fire, would think we will be making another addition before the start of the season.

We've signed a striker on loan from Stockport County, but his identity has yet to be revealed. He will play tomorrow against Cork.
Derry and Cork City cheekily sniffing around Jay O'Shea at the moment, and Derry rumoured to have bid 30k for him.
Surely we can't afford him.

yeah €25k is the figure going around, madness to pay that money imo.

Well whoever is looking for Jay O'Shea would want to fog off cos there is no hope of him leaving for 30k. Nick Leeson said at a recent fans forum that there was interest for him in Ireland, but they were being told where to go cos they were nowhere near the asking price

Still I would say we are not singing Jay O Shea as our owner doesn't want to pay over the odds for players and rightly so after our situation last year. Also he can't as we are not guaranteed Premier Division yet.

Not a terrible squad. I'd say it should be good enough to finish above Galway and perhaps Bray. Kenna, Joxer and Whelan are good Premier Divison players.

I just mean someone like Jay would want very high wages maybe parity with Joe gamble even not criticizing TNB here at all.

If Whelan plays anything like he did for most of last season with us then he won't add anything to Drogheda, but over all i reckon its a half decent squad he has asembled... I still think we will finish above them though, our squad is taken shape nicely and with a few more pre season games o come we should hit the ground running when the season kicks off.

I can't imagine Gormley would want to get stiffed by Kenny (the whole poaching Delaney 2 days before the start of last season) again hence why he is looking for decent money for LoI standards.

But in fairness to Kavanagh he has matured into a very good players since joining us and if last Saturday's preformance is anything to go by then he will be one of the Leagues top players this season.

DUNDALK manager Sean Connor has exclusively revealed to The Dundalk Democrat that Stephen O'Donnell is set to become the sixth former Bohemians star to arrive at Oriel Park this pre-season.

"We have reached a deal to bring him here so hopefully he will put pen to paper in the next 24 hours."

In fairness Cork probably had a higher turnover that anyone last year. There numerious problems there but given their crowds, and captive commercial market, they should be paying the highest wages in the league

Just because Sean Connor claims money is the reason Stephen isn't signing doesn't mean it's true. We'll be tight with money next year, if he signs it won't be for stupid money.

We're rumoured to have agreed a 1k wage cap with pats and Bohs that essentially means none of those clubs could go in and offer silly money to unsettle a player. I don;t remember Dundalk signing up for it and it certainly didn't cover uncontracted players. Though I'd imagine that the money involved would be a nice bit less than 1k per week.

So you know for a fact that he hasn't joined Cork for more money than we were offering? Because word from Oriel park is we dropped the transfer as he started to look for too much money.

Of course it's true. Why else would he be upping sticks to go to Cork rather than Dundalk? And they can only be paying him at least 70% of what he was on at Bohs.

The implication is that we offered 'big wages' more than '1k per week', which I dispute.
Chances are he just didn't want to play for Connor and was using the money as an excuse when Doolin came in, or that he was haggling and chancing his arm. We may have offered more than you [I don't know what you offered] but just because he asked you for €X per week doesn't mean we agreed to pay it.

And again, 'word from Oriel Park' is, IMO, Sean Connor trying to look like the only reason someone wouldn't want to play for him is because of money, not neccessarily the case.

Oh and word from Turners Cross is that you wanted to pay Stephen in motivational notes from Steve Bruce, which apparently isn't legal tender if you live outside Sean Connor's head.
