So I think the Derry team next season will not have changed at all apart from losing 2 and signing 2 players.
Who will be leaving - Possibly Harggy and maybe McHugh[/QUOTE]

Jennings et al will also be out the door.

Disgraceful reports eminating from Oriel about the Scully thing "Lilywhite Army".............a mate of mine works with one of the players and he told me Scully was offered the job at Dundalk after a 3-1 defeat in Wexford over Dundalk and low and behold Scully leaves Rovers , who had to pay him a mad amount of money to go a few days later.....no matter what you say about Gill, no manager should have to deal with that disgraceful situation.......my pal said the Board at Dundalk are jokers and even said they didn't care about losing away from home but when there is a home defeat the bar profits after the match suffer greatly!!!

Kevin McHugh will be coming home if we stay up.

Sligo are looking for Parky off us as are a few other clubs.

Word is, Cook has handed the Sligo board a list of players he wants for next season and the budget he requires, if he gets it then he will be staying there again next season.

Cork will be basically a locally based side next season from what I've been told.

A few local journos were saying last night that Mark Duggan has had his contract cancelled. His profile has been taken down from the Bray website but there's been no official announcement.

Rumours are either he refused to take a paycut or he had a falling out with Eddie (wouldn't be the first...or the last :().

EDIT: Also heard that Graham Gartland had his Drogs contract cancelled and has a few offers over in the UK.

As your manager what he thinks of Parky.

He is also a fan of 2 other players in our squad. He has made inquiries but to no avail.

Gary Murphy isn't playing GAA while under contract to LTFC or if he is he'll be sacked too. Harte denied he was playing GAA until they got to the county final on TV. He the decided he'd had his fun and didn't turn up for any more matches or training. He was then formally sacked. He's not much addition anyhow.

I also seem to remember the rumour about a Jamie McKenzie/Chris Breen loan swap I was glad we got to keep him but we had to sell him then. We could have done worse than Breen, atleast we might have a had a proper striker.

because so many of our players are from outside cork right now? Danny murphy and Dan Murray consider themselves Cork Men at this stage - so that leaves Darragh Ryan, Pat Sullivan (who is apprently going to UCD) and Lawrie Dudfield, as well as some young fellas from Limerick/Tipp/Kerry and Behan I suppose isnt from Cork either!

the majority of the Cork City team has always been from Cork City and County, this will continue next season.

Thats not true.Heary got out of his contract due to him not being paid every week, hence why Bohs didn't have to pay a fee for him as he was on a free transfer.

Jason Byrne was the only one who got his wages paid every week,as shels knew that they could cash in on him as British clubs were sniffing around.

Pats want,Brain Shelley Shane Robinson,(Rovers also want him,John Paul Kelly and Purcell(off Shams). They are also sniffing around Derry for Quigley.

Bobby Ryan and Richie Baker could well be playing for Rovers next year, from what i have heard.Price is off to Shels if they come up

Connor Sinnott will be playing for either Cork or Galway next year.

We'll have plenty of sides trying to cut budgets this year so what will that mean for transfer fees? What will Drogs get for their players?

Ipswich Town Look At Gartland (http://www.itfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10272%7E1446310,00.html)

Jim Magilton has revealed that Republic of Ireland B international Graham Gartland spent a few days training with Town recently.
The 25-year-old defender's progress has been monitored by Blues and the player is now a free agent after his Eircom club Drogheda went into administration.
"Graham is someone we have been aware of for a while," the Town boss told the Club website.
"He has impressed a lot of people in Ireland and Charlie Woods watched him play at the back for Ireland B alongside Alex Bruce.

"When the unfortunate situation came up with Drogheda, we asked Graham over for a trial.
"He spent a few days with us last week and did very well. He showed a great attitude. He had a look at us, we had a look at him but that's as far as it's gone at the moment."In fairness even I'd look good playing alongside Alex Bruce

Fahey Predicts Exodus (http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/eircom-league/fahey-predicts-mass-exit-from-league-of-ireland-1526483.html) from the Irish Independent.

He seems to think players will jump ship to lower league sides in England in light of the current situation. He also turned down a trial at Sunderland as he only wants a permanent move.

I can't see more than half a dozen leaving the league, the others will take pay cuts or go part time. Overall the standard will hardly be affected.

07/11/2008, 10:41 AM
I disagree. There's plenty of players who could make it in the lower leagues in England if they want to. If UCD, who've rarely been out of the bottom half in the last couple of years, can have three players play first team football in Britain (Sammon, Dicker and McFaul, the first two being regulars), and have others on trial/loan (Bermingham, Quigley, Kavanagh), then the top teams would have quite a few. Given a choice of playing professional football or finding a job in this economy, I know which I'd choose.

Dont see many changes with us. I'd say Jennings will go, and we are apparently chasing Richard Clarke of Newry. Sean Hargan is out of contract, and afaik hasnt been offered a new deal. Peter Hutton, Mark Farren, Gareth McGlynn and Seamus Sharkey have all signed contracts recently

Should I make anything of it? Our chairman released a statement earlier this year, all Derry fans knew this for a while. I'd say there will be a few players let go with less coming in. Stephen Kenny has said anyway that there wont be many changes for us. We know the situation we are in, its about time you worried about how to get to Ferrycarraig, Lissywollen etc..;)
