Connor Kenna was at our after-cup celebration party last night. Perhaps he just knows some of the lads...
Perhaps he turned up at the wrong Rovers ?

Can any Dundalk fans confirm that they have asked our Striker Paul Murphy to request that our club rip up his contact so he can sign for ye?
Apparently our club told him where to go and if Dundalk want him then ye'll be paying a fee. His response was that he would be signing for Dundalk either way.

Interesting that Richie Ryan and Gary McCabe are both listed, presumably they've been offered and turned down deals at Sligo so?

It might just mean they haven't signed anything yet, as opposed to having turned anything down.
There are a few surprises on there, particularly the presence of only one Galway United player.

I think they'd have had to inform the PFAI that they were seeking a new club. There are other Shamrock Rovers players aside from Bayly, Bradley and SOC that are out of contract yet don't appear on the list, presumably because they're in ongoing negotiations with the club

Some very good players on that list
A update on the Pats players on the list is Kenna looks like he is going to Rovers and Gary Rogers should be signed back for us by Saturday (deadline Pete has given players to sign by), Not sure about Bermo but i reckon he has been offered a new contract and the rest wont be signing back
Can any Dundalk fans confirm that they have asked our Striker Paul Murphy to request that our club rip up his contact so he can sign for ye?

Don't you have to ask to be put on that list? So at best, they're testing the water? I know most of our lads have been told we'd love to keep them on, but on pay cuts, which is why they'd be on that list.
(Cian Byrne's a strange one though, given he retired midway through last season. Must be making a comeback)

First time I heard this rumour. Foster is keeping tight lipped about transfer targets - so far he mentioned some of last years squad that have yet to resign but have been offered contracts (Miller, FAZ, McDonnell & Burns) and mentioned that he has been talking to Greg Bolger. Very much doubt we could afford any type of fee because Dundalks board are running a tight ship AFAIK. Coincidently our sub-goalkeeper is called Paul Murphy. Just wondering is your Paul Murphy any good? Could he make an impact in the Premier division?
Also here is the link where Foster speaks on Dundalks squad progress:

Just looking through that PFAI list, and there's a few surprises. Mark Farren for one; I thought he was retiring due to his illness? Nine Fingal players there too; mostly big names too. And no Ciarán Kilduff... *hopey smiley*

The list seems to have a number of mistakes on it. Dean Bennett is on it despite re-signing for Dundalk a few weeks back and Garry Breen has been named twice (I think they meant to say Johny Breen).
I think Sheppard's more likely to go to England, I can't see why he would stay in Ireland.
lack of talent and/or application?

Derry trying to sign 2 Harps players going by the rumours up here, although both were on Pro contracts and have been offered new deals at the club for next season.
If they do sign them then I hope they have the cheque book ready.

Thats what out of contract means and it allows them to talk to other clubs . It doesnt mean they wont re-sign to the club they finished the season with.
So why would Mark Farren do that? I thought he was ruled out of playing for the foreseeable future?

No it doesnt. Being out of contract and being open to offers are not the same thing and are definitely not mutually exclusive. You can bet your arse there are a large amount of out of contract players who didn't volunteer for the list. Anyone on there, is or was very open to a move. Plenty of them will end up staying at the club they were at last season but that doesn't suggest for a minute that they wouldn't have snapped up an offer at a different club if it came their way.

Just look at Footballs Next Star that was on Sky One. It was Italian Coaches looking at the players and 3 Irish lads managed to get into the top 10 out of the whole of Ireland and the UK. I feel this was down to the Italians not having a bias on picking English lads and went purely on talent.
Ireland has a population of ~4.5 million.
England has a population ~50 million.
Nothing got to do with bias.

Correct, but not ways the case. They have put players on the list in the past without prior consent and have even put amatuer players on the list which they should not do.
Pretty much every club has a host of top players on it, people will get worried but i would think a lot of these players will resign for their clubs if offered contracts.

Re Karl Sheppard:
lack of talent and/or application?
Definitely not the latter, as anyone who saw him regularly during the season - his work rate was immense when he had Bisto up front with him, and actually increased when Flood left, leaving Sheppard to basically plough it alone up front. As for lack of talent, the guy is a decent player, as was seen when he had a decent strike partner at the start of the season. That said I think he needs another season in the LOI before going over - look at Jay O'Shea, joins Birmingham, makes his debut in Old Trafford . . . and is now on loan at Stevenage

It's just one sentence in the article about Faz and it says that he has trained with the team. What I know is, that FCS has some injury problems and they want to sign some new players. They have a lack of creativity in midfield... so Faz could have a very serious chance to take a contract with them... if he has a good trial of course.
