I hear Schlingerman from Athlone could be off to Mons.

I think the problem is that you'd also be left with (possibly) substantial contracts to honour without the income levels to meet them.

Of course that is the point, but the blinkers are on now a la fungus so don't mention it.

But if the contracts aren't substantial (which they're not if the figures I've heard are true), then LTID is right.

As for the comparisons with Fingal, I'd be fairly certain that EVERY Fingal player was earning more than Gamble and Behan are. The first division has a few players that are on good money (Andy Boyle for example was offered more at Shels than he was at Pats), and most promotion chasing teams seem to have 1/2 of the higher profile (read paid) players surrounded by locals/journeymen

Limerick no different from Cork, Shels, Monaghan or even Logford

Dodge there actually seems to know what he's talking about lads.

Take the blinkers off and have a read of what he is saying and what Pat O'Sullivan has been saying.

Otherwise in your desperation to turn good into bad you might end up doing stupid, just stupid, things like comparing Limerick FC to Sporting Fingal. :ball:

We already have 4 centre halves. Doubt he'd wanna come here ahead of Shams.

Would think a lot of that squad would be on very little. If another few signings come in we could see a good few being released and I can see a lot of the younger players going back to just playing A team for the rest of the season.

Some of the squad could just be on a pay-per-play contract or the likes.
Say a very low basic wage with big bonus incentives like goals, appearances, clean sheets etc.

if there are 3/4 Pats players on no more than expenses, I'd imagine its the same in Limerick.

There's two possibilities really. Either you're looking at a Fingal/Shels/Bohs/Drogheda/Cork/Cork situation, or you're looking at a Pat's type situation where Kelleher gave Pat's loads of money, developed things but when he left (or stopped pumping in money; is he still involved?), they were able to revert quite easily back to what they had been before. If the latter is what Sullivan is doing at Limerick, then there's no problem really.

Anyways, back on topic, is Karl Moore just off to England on trials, or is there anyone in particular in for him? What happened to the Motherwell lead? He had a great game on Friday; must have had someone in the crowd watching!

First off I forgot Garbhan Broughall so that's 28. :)

Also in fairness I named everyone I could think off who have been used at some stage this year.

I'll break it down for those interested:

Long term injuries:

Dave Ryan
Stephen O'Flynn
Shane Tracy
Yellow Lyons (only just coming back now)
Chris Breen (constantly getting hobbled with something or other)
Gary Sheehan (Mark Forker broke his leg on opening day, hasn't kicked a ball since)
Brian O'Callaghan

U-19 and reserve players:

Andrew Bhandharkar
Sean O'Callaghan
Sean Brosnan
Barry Sheedy
Shane Cusack

Senior players U-23:

Garbhan Coughlan
Garbhan Broughall
Jeffrey Judge
Paudie Quinn
Dave O'Leary
Brian McCarthy

More experienced Senior Players:

Barry Ryan
Corey Tracy
Shaun Kelly
Peter White
Paddy Purcell
John Frost
Joe Gamble
Sean O'Connor
Peter Hynes
Denis Behan

Ya can't see any team paying a transfer fee. Would be shocked if we paid any kind of a transfer fee for him. How much did he cost Pacos in the first place?

Back to St.Pats?

I would have said we might be in for him cause we where at the start of the season but if Thomas is right and we have signed Shaun Maher then I wouldn't think we are. Also if we have got Maher that is the Murray link dead and buried.

Guthrie has been very poor for us since he came in. But the general opinion I gathered on here is that most Pats fans rate him as a defender.

Dont think so i think Maher if he has signed is being brought in as cover because its handy seen as he is moving to Limerick. even with him in it leaves us with 3 centre backs so i think they are still in for another.

Yeap, tiny. With Hector gone and by the looks of things Guthrie leaving our first team panel consists of 17. We have been badly hit with injuries. The long-term injuries to Eoghan Osborne and Stephen McDonnell have further depleted our squad. Stephen Maher has been on the bench recently but Foster seems reluctant to use him with the nature of his injury (osteitis pubis) and possibly due the fact he is struggling with fitness after been out so long. Add to that Jason Byrne and Hawkins been out for long periods and a couple more playing with injury our squad size has been a major hindrance to us this year.

Reserve team players Chris Duffy and Phillip Duffy have been called onto the bench for most of the matches this year but are very rarely used (ie. if we're cruising Foster might give them a run out).

The board stated that they won't be increasing funds to add to the squad, but this was before Hector and presumably Guthrie left. Hopefully we can get in a defender or two.

Sun newpaper reporting today that Alan Mannus will leave Rovers in just 2 weeks time (after the Flora game) to join SPL side St.Johnstone, the article also claimed Rovers were lining up Richard Brush or Peter Cherrie as a replacement

Todays other transfer news from the same paper claims Derry have rejected a bid from Blackpool for James McLean and former Shels gaffa Dermot Keely said in his usual column that he has recommended McLean to Millwall but he expects a bigger club to land him

How long is McDonnell out for?

Doesn't seem to be any deadline set for him to comeback. It said in the Dundalks democrat this week that McDonnell has gone to a specialist on Monday to see whether he needs surgery. Foster said the best case scenario would be to have McDonnell back in 6 weeks.
