Owen Hargreaves trained with Sligo today. Well, according to extratime.ie for about ten minutes he did, until they apparently realised a couple of the Sligo players were on a wind up on Twitter.

Absolute quality, will rape first division full backs.
IMO he is good enough to start for us, and every time he has played for us he has impressed.

He is a work in progress, Horgan. Has been very good as in impact sub but is still some distance from bring a Premier Div. winger. Was very ineffective V Shels and one or two other games he started, but the move to Cork will be perfect for him.

Carl McHugh signed on loan for Dundalk for the rest of the season from Reading, Fozzie said he's also looking at bringing in another centre half and also someone else in a different position to the Dundalk Democrat. Interesting to see there's money available after saying a few weeks back that only Hectors wage would go back into the budget (and the crowd situation) with him having to go back to Reading injured, can't see him being on too much while he was over. Hopefully we get one or two more in, badly in need of another centre half, Mahers back and Byrne will be back by the end of the month from injury, Osbourne and McDonnell are long term though so even an extra player on top of 2 centre halves this window will help no end.

what clubs did the first two player come from?
Gaughan came from Oxford. Liverpool and Celtic before that. Gorman was with us last season and was excellent but suffered a long-term injury.

The Derry Journal are reporting we've said no to a £250,000 offer from Peterborough from McClean (http://www.derryjournal.com:80/sport/city_seek_350k_1_2855290). Looking for a £350,000, with a whole other bunch of clubs circling. Moreover the scouts at last Friday's game got an eyeful and there's interest in a slew of other players now according to our chairman.

great news for Derry. Theres a fine line between cashing in and decimating your squad though. Whats the feeling amongst your fans SvD? Cash in when you can for as much as you can or consolidate and push for the title/euro spot? Even stg350,000 just for McLean would be a huge boost for DCFC's coffers id imagine.
In other news, interest from Premiership and Championship clubs in Bohs man Forrester and Sligo reportedly interested in Christy Fagan.

€150,000 is clearly nonsense. €1,500,000 is probably closer to the truth.

Most would be resigned to losing McClean and delighted for him to get the opportunity. Also pleased to see the board hold out for some decent dough. As for the others, I'd be cautious. Not sure what will emerge, but I'd rather hold on to as many players as possible until the end of the season since we're on such a decent run and losing more than two players (maybe even more than one) would hamstring our chances. I think that's what SK will try and persuade the players to do, if the interest is serious enough.
Either way it's not a terrible position to be in - great to see the players get some well deserved notice and hopefully the board remain robust enough to get the best deal if one's forthcoming. Even better if we can keep a lot of these guys for the season.

I read in Friday's Daily Mirror, that the Mannus deal will be a free transfer. I would have thought there would have been a fee involved as he would still be under contract?
