View Full Version : Transfer rumours
so to get back to my original point. 5 Strikers. Is that necessary do you think Jicked?
If any of them can take a penalty, yes very much so...

If today, Tuesday 22 February 2011, is the last day of the League of Ireland transfer window. Does that include possible Free Transfers of players.
Is it a case of if you havent signed for a club by the end of today well thats that until the summer window?
I think free transfers can still happen, provided the player was clubless by the end of the window.
i believe we released Marc Hughes today. He was on loan with Shels last season.

Someone will do very well getting him on, bags of potential.

Was he being paid? Seems mad to release him now
something to do with focussing on his college education or something. Not sure of the full story to be honest.

I'd like to see him at pats, he looked good little player any time I saw him last year and we,re bit short on attacking options at the min although from match reports last nite seems daryl kavanagh had promising game

So between Hughes and Corcoran, I think we can safely say that Drogs have abandoned their amateur ethos at the first sniff of Premier Division football?

Just checking up on international clearance cert I was working on earlier on the fifa tms and was funny seeing July as next transfer opportunity and thinking how much football we will have seen by then. Got me a little excited. You know its almost time for kick off when transfer deadline day is passed. Pity we have a week longer to wait for some football though.:(

Why not? MON said there's still room for more players in the budget, and I don't see many others out there better than him. The full-back McCormack should be the first priority, but after that I'd take Finn over Priestly or the other options out there.

Of course it is...
Anyway, any manager who doesn't want Finn needs his head examined. Best midfielder in the country IMO.
Budget issues might stop him going to most, but everyone would make room for him if they could

It's in no way confirmed, all I know is that Finn was training with us over the last couple of weeks when he's been in Dublin.
The Rovers budget is no doubt the highest in the league if that's what you're wondering, but although I hate to break it to you, at our AGM it will be confirmed as being affordable.

At least youre not spining the part-time thing this season. The way some Shams fans were going on last year you would swear it was somthing to be ashamed off.

I don't think even Bohs fans would argue that our two boards/member set-ups are in any way comparable.

We were part-time last year, no two ways around it. This year we're training some days, as well as evenings (as we did last year) but do feature more full-time players. The move to even some daytime training sessions almost meant we missed out on re-signing guys like Pat Flynn who have other jobs, but as far as I know a deal was reached where they can train with the A-Championship team some nights.
And the reason for our budget being the biggest in the league will have more to do with cutbacks elsewhere than an increase in our budget. People seem to want to talk about our 5 strikers being overkill, but Sheppherd, Kelly, Kilduff and Gary O'Neill have replaced Fenn, Stewart, Baker and Barrett, and I'd imagine only Gary O'Neill
would be on similar wages to that which established players like Baker would have been on. Add in last year's increased prize-money from winning the league, reaching the Cup Final, a good European run, the Juve TV money and selling over 2,500 season tickets the last couple of years and I don't see any reason to think everything's not fine. With other clubs finally working off sustainable budgets (well...) it's the perfect chance for us to capitalise having been doing the same for the last few years.
