Any Shamrock Rovers fans know why Danny Murphy left? He didn't seem to play too much last year, was it O'Neill's decision to let him go or did he leave on his own accord?

He wasn't very good. Started the season well, but apart from flying in to tackles for the first 5 or 6 games he hasn't featured much and when he did he was really poor. I'd guess this means we are confident of Enda Stevens not going to the UK (who was a far, far better player than him last year despite being so young), or Conor Powell will come in to replace Murphy. Can't think of many other left-backs out there, so I presume one of those two will be lined up before letting Murphy go.

A few weeks ago, Tommy Dunne was on Cork's Red fm saying that he was in talks with Danny hopeing to secure his services should he part company with Rovers.
TV3 said this evening Danny will be signing a 2 year deal with Cork City in the netx 2 days.

The Gary O'Neill thing is old news. I think there were some words about it a few pages back or on another thread. Price was released, not him leaving of his own accord. Interesting to see how much Cork would have to cough up if the Dan Murray thing was true.

heard he was a good prospect but he didnt make too many waves last term mainly due to injuries,one for the future he needs a good A season under him and maybe a leinster/LOI cup game.

As much as I'd love him back I don't see us spending any money in a transfer fee for him which is fair enough. Unless of course Rovers were willing to cancel his contract or he "retires" :p

Just seems unrealistic tbh. The only way it could happen is if ye agreed to mutual termination, which I doubt ye would. we certainly couldn't afford a transfer fee.

Also wouldn't seem to make much sense for him, I'd have no doubt he's on multiple of the amounts we could offer him with ye, unless he's just not happy with the commuting.

One can hope though :D
