He seems to be, We are still very light upfront and our midfield isn't the strongest

in todays mail town defender mick lee is into his second trial with carlisle utd. I heard about this last weekend but only posted once I saw this in that paper today. The trouble is that he has already signed a contract with us for the new season.
Further info on this here for anyone who's curious

Ya Kav is good on his day alright. Guilty of taking too much out of the ball a lot with us but when it came if it looked great.

Hopefully the Kierans rumour is true, would be a very good move by Foster. Other people rumoured to take over as assitant manager include Owen Heary and our current youth development officer Martin Connolly.

Stefan McKevitt has signed for Dundalk club Woodview Celtic in the Meath and district league. Tiernan Mulvenna has just left them to go to Shels

Ryan Brennan and Eoghan Osbourne formerly of the Drogs are apparently starting pre season with us tomorrow. Was readfing the Sun there and theres an interview with Tranmere manager Les Parry saying he is looking to take across a few LOI players. It says he has 1 unnamed player over there atm training.

Apparently, the signing of Denis Behan is imminent. We've signed Danny Murphy and Alan Carey. But Killian Lordan has left to go abroad.
Any word on cork and who they're signing? Working in Galway/Clare at the minute and don't hear muchThe word is that we're loaded and will be signing alll round us.
The reality on the other hand is that Tommy has the same budget as last year and will cut his cloth accordingly.
So far we have signed Timmy Kiely, Danny Murphy, Alan Carey as well as re-signed the bulk of last years squad. i'd say we've about 15/16 at this stage.
Tommy said on the wireless last weekend that he will be making a few more signings, The Beast, as was mentioned, being one of those.

Enda Curran (mervue-galway)
Peter Dravins (castlebar celtic-mervue)
The deal for Behan has fallen through. Absolutely gutted.
Apparently we're linked with Richard Brush. Could any Sligo fan shed some light on this?

Be shocked if it was true. He had been waiting on scans on his wrist to see if he's fit enough to sign for the season last we heard. I'd expect him to sign soon enough.

Was supposed to have done a fitness test earlier this month. havent heard anything on it since. Hes an honouary Sligo lad at this stage. We havent been linked with a keeper either, so as poster said, Id be very suprised if true.
Paddy Madden to Blackpool (rumour).
update: rumour being quashed at present.

i blame the parents.
Talk of the Jaycist coming to us.
I'd doubt Brush would leave Sligo if he had a choice.
I'd be disappointed if he was to leave. He probably wouldn't have saved as many penos in the Cup Final but he's twice the keeper Kelly is in my opinion.

John McGuinness, Dave Rogers, Victor Ekanem, Derek Glynn, John Lester, Aaron Shanahan, Dave Freeman all training with Athlone along with a handful of youth players and LSL players. Not looking good for us at this stage trying to put a team together especially with all the former Longford players training.

Figured the likes of Gareth Whelan, Colin O'Brien, Michael Coburn, Eric Foley, Stephen Quigley, Paul Shiels etc. who most likely won't be staying on with us this year would end up split between Athlone, Longford and Monaghan. That potential Athlone squad (or bones of it) looks very poor.

I'd pity anyone that picks up Barry Conlon, the worst kind of professional footballer who will only play for about one month a year, to make sure he has a contract for the next season. The rest of the time he just wanders around picking up red cards. A shame really cos when motivated he can actually be quite decent

Isnt he from Sligo County somewhere, very near to Roscommon?

As I said they're just training at the minute. It will be a week or two before Kerley finalises his squad and I'd say quite a few of those names won't be signed.....possibly Glynn and Ekanem would be the only 2 I'd take.

Think he's from Monaghan. He was talking to Dundalk last year but wanted too much money apparently. Don't see clubs queueing up for him, his off the field attitude doesn't seem to be very good, don't know what his on field performances have been like but he hasn't been kept too long anywhere.

Nearly certain he went to school in Boyle but was either from Sligo county or from Roscommon, could be way off the mark there though.

Wikipedia has him down as being from Drogheda, but I've heard the Monaghan thing before. I think a lot of Monaghan people are born in Drogheda though (nearest maternity hospital), so I'd say that's what it is.

He's from Carrickmacross (south Monaghan) and played for Monaghan minors before heading for Man City. Was actually on Dundalk's books before he left. Think you're being harsh on him-he has scored over 100 league goals in 400 matches. Yes, he has moved clubs a lot but that's the way the lower leagues work in England. Clubs can only risk short-term contracts and players make their money from signing on fees. He's clubless as of now but I think he might baulk at current LOI wages.

You're thinking of Barry Cogan from South County Sligo who played for Millwall in the FA Cup final V Manchester Utd. around 2005/6(?)

garto, philly and barry moved for higher wages (cant blame them) o connor moved to canada while donnolly was not ready for the first team ,
losing four lads from a panal of twenty two is not an exodus.

Maybe exodus overstates it but such player turnovers are the norm in any case- apart from last season when we kept the core of the squad. Barrett and Fabio could be good signings and hopefully there will be a few more before the start of the season.
